GUILTY Australia - Bruce Saunders, 54, fed into woodchipper, Gympie, Qld, 12 Nov 2017 *arrests in 2021*

A man accused of killing his girlfriend's ex-partner, whose body was partially shredded in a woodchipper near Gympie, has been found guilty of murder.

The following story contains graphic descriptions that some readers may find disturbing

Bruce Saunders died while clearing trees with two men, Gregory Roser and Peter Koenig, at a friend's property in Goomboorian in November 2017.

His death was initially deemed an industrial accident, but several months later Roser was charged with his murder.

The 63-year-old faced a month-long trial in the Supreme Court in Brisbane, where he pleaded not guilty.

After hearing evidence from dozens of witnesses and spending more than a day deliberating, on Friday a jury convicted Roser.

Thank you @TootsieFootsie, for keeping us in the loop! I was worried about the jury feeling they might not be able to come to a decision, (and a bit perplexed, it seemed quite clear to this armchair detective!), I'm glad they managed to do so.

Does anyone know when Graham's trial starts?

These are seriously scary people!

Ms Graham has been remanded in custody, with a date for a new trial to be reviewed on October 21.

Maybe sometime today we'll know her trial date.

"My dad does not deserve to be remembered as the woodchipper victim," Mr Saunders' son Blake said in an impact victim statement read to the court.

"My dad was a kind, happy, hardworking, wonderful man."

I'm glad he is being punished harshly. A terrible crime, for the worst motives.

A Queensland woman has been accused of planning the "extraordinarily wicked" murder of her ex-partner using a woodchipper so she could claim his estate and life insurance.

Sharon Graham, 61, in Brisbane Supreme Court on Monday pleaded not guilty to the murder of Bruce James Saunders, 53, at a property near Gympie on November 12, 2017.

Justice Peter Callaghan told jurors before the 17-day trial they would not have to examine photographs and the "gruesome details" of Mr Saunders' body being partially drawn into a large woodchipper.

Crown prosecutor Greg Cummings told the jury in his opening comments that it was not in dispute that Mr Saunders had been "deliberately and unlawfully killed" on that day by Gregory Lee Roser under the guise of helping a recent widow clear tree stumps from her land.

The barrister for a woman accused of planning her ex-partner's murder via a woodchipper has told a Queensland jury she thought his death was an accident.

Sharon Graham, 62, is on trial in Brisbane Supreme Court after pleading not guilty to the murder of Bruce James Saunders, 53, at a property near Gympie on November 12, 2017.

"As far as Sharon Graham observed at the time, Mr Saunders died as a result of an accident and ... one of the principal issues in this trial is the credibility and reliability of Peter John Koenig."

A woman accused of plotting an "extraordinarily wicked" murder of her ex-partner, whose body was fed into a woodchipper near Gympie, allegedly "counselled" her then-boyfriend to kill him so she could claim his $750,000 life insurance, a jury has heard.

In an opening address to the court, crown prosecutor Greg Cummings told the hearing it was alleged Ms Graham "successfully counselled and procured" Mr Roser, who was her partner at the time, "over a number of months" to kill Mr Saunders.

Mr Cummings said while Ms Graham was over "an hour's drive away" from where Mr Saunders' alleged murder took place, her "liability stemmed from her conduct leading up to his killing".

A widow has told a Queensland jury a woman accused of planning a murder via woodchipper turned up to her property for a "surprise" tree clearing.

On Tuesday, Sharon Beighton told the jury she had been friends with Graham for about eight years in October 2017.

Her husband had recently died and she had been planning to sell her house and land at Goomboorian, about 70 kilometres north of the Sunshine Coast.

Ms Beighton said she had talked to a real estate agent about selling her land but was told it was "not worth very much with all the vegetation".

She said Mr Saunders, Mr Koenig and Mr Roser all attended her property on multiple weekends, making repeat trips due to their woodchipper breaking down and being replaced.

Graham also showed up one weekend, she said.

"When I got home, there were trees cut down just inside my gate," Ms Beighton said.

"I was shocked to see that and asked 'What are you doing?'' and Ms Graham said 'Surprise, we're cutting the trees down so you'll get a bit more for your property'.

"We had talked about how my property was worth more than was being offered but I never asked Ms Graham to cut down any trees."

Trial of Sharon Graham accused of convincing her lover to kill ex-partner and put body through woodchipper aborted

The trial against a Queensland woman who is accused of counselling a man to kill her ex-partner and dispose of his body in a woodchipper has been aborted after a week.

The trial, which was expected to run for a month was abruptly halted on Monday afternoon, while Mr Koenig was on the witness stand.

Justice Peter Callaghan told the jurors there were "rules on evidence that can or cannot be given", and there had been testimony given to the court which should not have.

"Unfortunately, you heard some evidence … which ought not to be given," he said

Justice Callaghan apologised to the jurors and said because of this a mistrial would be declared.

"I find myself duty bound to discharge you now without the need for you to give a verdict," he said.

"These things happen … it's not uncommon.

"On this occasion it's really nobody's fault."

A new trial was expected to start today, however the proceedings will now go ahead later in the year.

Ms Graham was remanded in custody and the matter was adjourned.

It is known for sure if the victim alive when pushed into the woodchipper?

ETA: Looks like he probably was, but I didn't know if an autopsy was even possible to confirm due to state of body.

"Mr Cummings told the jurors they would hear from Peter John Koenig, who would tell them he was the only person to see Roser hit Mr Saunders from behind with a 40-millimetre metal pipe and then repeatedly strike the victim's head while he was on the ground.

"Mr Cummings said Mr Koenig would say he joined Roser in carrying Mr Saunders' lifeless body to a large woodchipper and partially lower his body into the machinery to make it look like he had a fatal accident while clearing trees to help a recent widow sell her land."

I posted an ABC article dated 6 hours ago. It says that the trial has been aborted.

I deleted it when I realised that the wording is exactly the same as when the trial was aborted in April.
