Article in The Australian which I can't link as it is paywalled, claims Cecilia had weights in her cargo pants pockets.

Crikey.

The 40-year-old, who lived with Ms Haddad in Ryde until she asked him to move out two weeks before her death, has not yet been asked to make a formal statement. Detectives need an arrest warrant approved by a Sydney court before they can fly to Brazil to interview him, legal sources* said.
Mr Santoro spoke to police when they contacted him on his mobile phone in South America.
“I’ve already spoken to (police), I’ve placed myself at their disposal,” Mr Santoro, who lives in the affluent residential neighbourhood of Lagoa, said.
“I have nothing to say about this, you will have to speak to my lawyer.”

‘Along with others’.

While the outcome of last week's post-mortem examination has been closely guarded by investigators, the results led police to confirm the case was a homicide.

On Tuesday, The Australian newspaper reported that the kayakers who discovered Ms Haddad's body on the morning of April 29, say they found weights stuffed into the pockets of her cargo pants.

Police say Mr Santoro remains a "person of interest", along with others.

So Cecilia must have been placed in shallow water or the tide subsided to reveal her there.
Interestingly Cecilia was dressed in greens and Khaki!
IMO perfect camouflage clothing in the water.

“Ms Haddad's fully-clothed body was found by morning kayakers at a sandbank along the Lane Cove River near Angelo St, Woolwich.
She was wearing a navy/green long sleeve jumper, khaki cargo pants”

Kyakers found her and she was weighted down. Hopefully he’s stupid enough not to have worn gloves when stuffing the weights into Cecilia’s pockets.

A memorial service has been held in Brazil.
"What happened to Cecilia is not normal - in the name of her family and friends we want justice," Olivia Furst, the family's lawyer.
"We are counting on the press, the public and the authorities," she said.

There was no sign of Ms Haddad's former lover, Mario Marcelo Santoro, who flew home to Rio De Janeiro last weekend, at the Brazilian church service.
Police say Mr Santoro is a "person of interest" and Brazillian authorities have been engaged to help locate him.

"There are several persons of interest, and no arrest warrants have been issued," a NSW Police spokeswoman told AAP on Saturday.

Man, I hope they find him.

It’s confusing Amber where some articles say he’s speaking with police and other say otherwise.

It sounds like Cecilia’s family lawyer is onto it.

Interesting wording here ‘is a person of interest & not a suspect’

Police have said Mario Marcelo Santoro, 40, is a person of interest - not a suspect - in the murder investigation after Ms Haddad’s body was found floating in a Sydney river last Sunday.

I wonder if the wording is intentionally curious due to international etiquette of some sort ?

With her immediate family based in Brazil, Ms Haddad's ex-husband, who lives in Perth, is co-operating with the investigation and travelling from Western Australia to formally identify her body.

Inspector Sim said he was "very traumatised," as was Ms Haddad's mother who lives in Brazil.
Investigators were also searching her apartment in St Annes Street at Ryde where police believe Ms Haddad lived alone.
He said investigators were seeking assistance from the community, including "CCTV or dash-cam footage of Cecilia or her vehicle, possibly in the Hunters Hill, Ryde, Top Ryde, West Ryde and Woolwich areas over the weekend".

Do everything to get this monster," says Brazilian mother
"Cecilia has always been a talented and intelligent girl with a pure heart, she did not believe that people were cruel and selfish, she always forgiven and gave people one more chance, I think she was too good for this world," said Milu.

The Brazilian's mother will not be able to follow the investigations in Australia by medical recommendation. "I would love to be there with my beloved daughter, but I had cardiac surgery and I still do not have the doctor's permission.for long flights," she said.
