That whole bolded part just makes it look even worse for Leela. Why would she be so worried about this woman collecting the dogs, if her daughter needed to be taken to the hospital? And why would she feel the need to lie about Leela's whereabouts if she wasn't sick? I'm guessing that Leela was no longer alive at that point. (I say this when this whole time I have thought there is a possibility that both Chantelle & Leela are still alive).

My first thought was it was a lie. This whole sequence of events speaks volumes - I wish I knew what the hell it is telling us! So many odd details here.

This certainly supports a suicide pact scenario, but who knows if he was deceiving his devotees along with the rest of the world. That's the problem with lying liars who lie, it can be difficult to identify the interwoven kernels of truth.

Aha correct Bohemian well spotted the caption is incorrect !
It says its gary / simon , but its Tony Popic surely .
Thats a picture i hadn't seen before ,
Therefore put it up here but didn't notice that the caption below it had name wrong .
Just my opinion though !

I dunno GF/SK did die and is buried out there somewhere and Tony (and maybe even Chantelle and Leela) is still alive? Misprint in the caption or WAPOL hoping to jog someone’s memory. Just throwing something wild out there.

I think we need a witness to seeing any of them in Northcliffe where 1 of of the bus tickets was booked to, and where the T-shirt was found, and where the firefighters smelt the rotting flesh.

I see... Wouldn't that be some great trickery if it generated a new lead? That photo had me going down a rabbit hole for a bit too. I know it was Tony but the caption made me do a double-take.

Not impossible to disappear, it seems. I find it difficult to believe, after all I’ve read about her, that Chantelle would be the type of mother who would allow her daughter to be part of a suicide pact.

Exactly. Without that vital witness, there is proof of life and, equally, no proof of death. The ‘not-knowing’ must be so upsetting for Tony’s, Chantelle’s and Leela’s families. Sending prayers of strength and comfort to them x

I note that on one reddit thread that someone thinks that Chantelle McDougall was operating a twitter account in Canada. The account has a picture of a woman with a daughter as an avatar, it has posts from 2009 to 2012, however nothing in them indicate any Australian like content, euphemisms, people she following, nor anything remotely suspect of confirming that it is the missing person. IMO.
