Whoa, been away & so much going on in the thread. Just want to respond to some of the comments over the last 28 pages or so.
BRE had lived with EE in Madora Bay prior to purchasing Huntingdale in 1991 & after selling in 1997, he moved back into Gay St with his parents. So, whilst he lived at Fountain Way throughout 96-97, you would have to assume Madora Bay was used on and off by the whole family, but was probably vacant most of the time. I've read here in WS they broke up around 1995 & dont believe the police would have told the family what they may have found there or otherwise.
It is my belief (from what Ive picked up in blogs/articles along the way - some of which has been deleted for various reasons) the '88 assault was also on Gay St. Irrespective of location, I have no doubt that the victim knew her attacker or had a very strong suspicion who he was at least & was able to provide his name to WAPOL at the time. Could you imagine this conversation - "hey sarge, remember about 2 years ago when WS members reckoned the perp might work for Telstra, well this one works for telstra, you reckon we should check him first"? Bingo!!
Pippidinny Rd may have been secluded in the sense that there werent any houses and once driving along it, there aren't too many reasons to stop along the way. But, it was a very well used track and people frequently drove up and down at all hours of the night, myself included numerous nights out fishing. I dont think anyone would've looked twice at seeing a car driving in or out of there at anytime (taxis excepted), but there was a fairly decent chance that you would be seen by someone nevertheless. On the chance that you passed them on the road, theres no way they wouldnt be able to identify your car at the very least & likely seeing your face too as they passed. So perhaps he wasnt familiar with the area at all. I think theres a good chance something went very wrong with CG. If we accept the abductions were sexually motivated and we know JR was found naked in quite dense bush, fairly close to the road & in a far more populous area south, which he would have been familiar with, & whom wasnt found for 56 days despite the close proximity to houses. Compared to CG who was further away from Claremont, carried into bush from a side track off the road and left in a much more open position, partially clothed, yet still found in 20days. Perhaps that was a spur of the moment drop far away from familiar territory. They dont seem to have much in common to me & I dont think provide any clues as to another unknown location.
Spooks - there were articles alluding to the girls having their throats cut including those from Irish Newspapers who seemed to provide alot of info about the Glennon family not published in others. Much of it appeared to have been provided from someone very close to the family at least.
Sutton - Samantha White. Have looked long and hard for any info about this girl and came up with nothing. Im at a loss to name the other 4 girls in that article either unless they are referring to a different timeframe - Barbara Weston '86, & still missing - Julie Cutler 88, or within the timeframe but country locations + still missing - Sara Davey, Broome '97, Lisa Govan Kalgoorlie '97, or street worker still missing from nightclub vicinity - Lisa Brown '98. The only one that falls into the category is Jennifer Wilby '99 found 2012. It was in the Telegraph though which is an eastern states paper so most likely to be incorrect details IMO.
Annalise - hit the Remember me button when u login.
From memory, it was within the past couple of years that Don Spiers spoke of the phone call that he received soon after SS disappeared that identified a 5600h area to him and that to this day he feels was genuine.
With the search for secluded places in Claremont in full swing - who is this in regard to - JR or the other assaults? Or have I missed something else?
If JR didnt walk down into Claremont, I'd put money on her being taken from the carpark behind the post office. It was so dark and barely used. He could have even lured her across the road from the pub under the guise of needing change for the phone or something. Theres no way she would have started walking east up Gugeri St trying to get home to Wembley so not a chance she would have been anywhere further away in that direction for no reason.
I think there were a heap of creeps hanging around in Claremont & Perth in general at the time. Not to mention the amount of people that have been subsequently charged of rapes and murders all over the world who were known to have lived in Perth at some time or another. I think there were fake cabs and fake cops & know enough first hand stories to say I consider that a fact. Having grown up in the area, going to school there and frequenting the pubs/clubs since the Conti was Cagneys and Thursday nights were full of all the kids you would see the next day at school, everyone knew everyone by face at least, & you trusted everyone regardless of whether you went to JTC, Scotch, Christchurch, Iona, PLC, MLC or Hollywood. In later years, Claremont was still considered a safe place for the girls that grew up around there regardless of the Birnies or what had happened with SS. Thats just how it was. The speedway crowd didnt hang around to socialise and rarely came over the railway line. You didnt need to pass through the heart of Claremont to get in or out regardless of where you were going. Despite what image may be conjured up about a 'busy area full of people going to pubs/clubs with the showgrounds & train stations closeby' it was far from that. 90% of the area was dark and deserted with numerous nooks and crannys to sit in wait and numerous dark small carparks to go unseen in. Best place ever to choose to abduct someone from with so many routes to get out quickly. Very few cops because there was very little trouble. I dont think anyone needed to be overly brazen to attempt multiple abductions or particularly clever to not get caught, I think it was an incredibly easy place to succeed for anyone with the desire to do so.
BRE was involved with athletics because CGE & VG were before he became involved. BRE & CGE both stayed on 1 yr after VG finished seemingly to hand over the reigns to successors, he was secretary in the last year and she was equipment officer. I dont think the motivation was anything other than a step father and mother involved with their childs sport. They met in 1998 when VG would have been 3-4yrs.
IMO, that is the best clue as to why so little is apparent after 1997.
A look at other property owners in Acton Ave may give a clue as to why he never moved.
