Someone did post shortly after my post with a quote from the paper I think it did say that area where the Albany Hwy and the Link join in front of Bunnings. Maybe someone can trawl through the posts after mine of 1st March. Spooks what do you do with yourself all day?

The footage of the bald Adrian Bayley on the night of the Jill Meagher Murder in Melbourne (2012),
is 16 years after the Conti Video on the 1996 night of the disappearance of Jane Rimmer.
When Bayley was 41yo.

The bald guy in the Conti video looks way too old to be Adrian Bayley (born 1971),
who would have been 25 in 1996.

Bayley could have shaved his crop of blonde/fair hair during the missing years on his CV, or during the winter of 96,
but IMO, like the Spooky one says, placing the bald man as Adrian Bayley,
is a stretch too far of the imagination.

Yes, we'd all like to know where Bayley was, and what he was doing, whilst Perth and Claremont in particular was being terrorised in the middish 90's.
It's a pity that those that know where he was and what he was doing, are keeping it to themselves, for what I will assume are selfish reasons, until anyone comes up with a better suggestion.

Just putting it out there. Bald man spends at least a minute hugging or shaking hands with one of the bouncers, then the guy in suit. He's still there at 04.52 am when Jane has disappeared from the kerb. He seems to take no notice of her at all unlike about 4 or 5 other suspicious guys and girls!

There are far more stranger things going on with this cctv and story we are told than bald man, IMO.

I've seen conflicting information about where the three murdered girls went to school and more recently have been of the understanding that Sara Spiers and Ciara Glennon both previously attended Iona Presentation with Jane Rimmer a former student of Hollywood High.

Found a very old Reuters article that suggests all three girls went to Iona, misinformation perhaps or did Jane Rimmer attend both schools through high school?

PERTH, Australia, April 4 (Reuter) - Australian police said on Friday
they were hunting a serial killer preying on young women at nightclubs in
the western city of Perth after the discovery of the corpse of a missing
woman.

Three young women, all similar in looks and who all attended the same
exclusive school, have gone missing from nightclubs in the upmarket Perth
suburb of Claremont in the past 14 months.

Two have been murdered and police believe the other, whose body has
not been found, was also murdered by a serial killer.

``We are looking at the same offender, a serial offender for the three
offences. However, he may have an accomplice,'' police superintendent Paul
Ferguson said on Friday.

Lawyer Ciara Glennon, 27, was discovered in a bush grave in a northern
Perth suburb on Thursday after she disappeared on March 14 after leaving a
nightclub.

``As terrible as this discovery is, it is a major breakthrough for the
investigators of the taskforce,'' Ferguson said. ``The discovery of the
body will have a significant impact on the person responsible and will
result in him being preoccupied and distracted,'' Ferguson said.

Jane Rimmer's naked and decomposed body was found face-down in swampy
shrubland in a southern Perth suburb in August 1996, two months after she
went missing from a Claremont nightclub.

Police have not said how the women were killed.
Legal secretary Sarah Spiers, 18, disappeared in January 1996 after
visiting another Claremont nightclub. Police presumed she was murdered,
although her body has not been recovered.

Using a psychological profile of the killer, police on Friday appealed
to Perth employers to report any unusual activity by workers, such as
absenteeism, reclusiveness, headaches, anxiety or inability to
concentrate.

``These signs will be noticable to those in contact with the person
responsible,'' Ferguson said.

``Serial offenders of this nature have been found to be compulsive
drivers who spend a lot of time in their vehicle and are concerned with
the appearance of their car,'' he said.

``It is likely the individual responsible for these disappearances
spent time cleaning or polishing the vehicle he used following the
disappearances...''

A police taskforce was established after Rimmer, a 23-year-old child
care worker, vanished after leaving a nightclub about midnight on June 9,
1996.

All three women were blondes with a striking similarity in appearance.
All went to the same prestigous Perth school, Iona Presentation College.

Police have offered a A$250,000 (US$195,000) reward for information
about the women's disappearance and murders.

Australia's most notorious serial killer, Ivan Milat, received a life
sentence last year for the murder of seven backpackers, including five
Europeans, outside Sydney.

IMO confirmed beyond doubt that JR went to Hollywood HS. However, the owner or manager of the childcare centre she worked for, (located Government Road opp. KK cemetery) went to Iona.

I can't remember the post but it was said the owner was at Iona at the same time as CG.

JR attended Rosalie PS & Hollywood SHS for all years of her schooling. She never attended Iona.

Hi IC - when that bald guy walks outside the guy behind him joins a group and keeps staring back at JR. I also noticed as the bald guy walks out JR has turned completely around and moved down a bit. Her and the guy behind bald guy stare at each other. Second frame she is watching him but his back is turned. Third frame he is staring at her. Fourth frame where she can't be seen I think same guy is walking back into hotel! MOO

Yes they both seem to be there after JR is gone. Does look like the second guy has gone back to the Conti door. The car that poleman kept turning his head to look at still looks to be there, maybe they get into that. The abduction of JR seems different and there seems to be a group of people involved in some way. I even think the infamous Michelle is in some of the other frames.

Transcript from about 38min on Crime Scene Investigation Hunt for a Serial Killer, just before MM comes into vision.

Lieberman: Her demeanour appears to be different doesn’t it? I mean, she appears to be relaxed, cool, calm, friendly, looking...We will shortly see come into shot... a person of interest. You’ve called him the Mystery Man.
Stanbury: That’s correct.
Lieberman: Because of all the people that were there, this is the one person you’ve yet to interview.
Stanbury: That’s correct.
Lieberman: ...whose yet to come forward.
Stanbury: That’s correct.

So of all the people that were there MM is the one person cops were yet to interview. Correct!??

Every time I've looked at the video, I've noticed something different and from what I can see I don't think Jane walked out of the Conti with girl friends that night, and I'm questioning all of the information given to us about her that night.

Hi IC - they have only shown bits and pieces of blurry video. Jumps from one frame to another. Very hard to make sense of it. We are supposed to be trying to find out who MM might be. We were told every other person in that video was accounted for and interviewed. What does that mean? I don't think they were given much info. It's obvious there were some shifty people in the videos. How well were they checked out. Even the bouncers. I feel the lovely Michelle could have been there too. How do they know they interviewed everyone - there were people everywhere. Something is not right MOO

At 36.45 on CSI Hunt for a Serial Killer,

Leiberman: Ok, now let’s roll the vision. At that point that Jane and her friends leave the hotel, what’s happening here?...
Det Sgt Jim Stanbury: You can see Jane and her friends coming outside the hotel now, and they’re just congregating around this pole... ahh discussing about what they’re going to do next.

Incorrect.

Jane exits the same time as three other girls. Two of them, friend 2 and 3 don't interact with her at all, just talk to bouncer. They both disappear from vision while JR is still talking. So called friend 3, with fuzzy hair is on the tape later after midnight when Jane is waiting at pole by kerb and doesn't talk or interact with JR at all. F 3 talking and very close to another bouncer at this time. Neither are her friends IMO.

? girl has waited outside Conti and only starts to walk to pole when JR exits. ? girl walk straight past JR and goes to pole, leaning against it. JR then goes to pole. There seems to be no interaction between them before going to pole. However, ? girl is the only one that looks vaguely like the friend Lynda Donovan, that talks on the documentary.

I thought her friends might still be inside the hotel, but the commentary clearly says she exits the hotel with her friends and they congregate around pole deciding what to do next.

Lynda Donavon: Somewhere through the night, I can’t remember whose decision it was we decided we were bored there so we would go to CBV. So we went there, and there was a line to get in, so we decided we wouldn’t go, and by that stage a couple of us were feeling a little tired so we decided we’d go home.
Leiberman: And your inquiries indicate that the friends said to Jane “Come with us, we’re getting a cab”.
Stanbury: That’s correct. And Jane at the last minute, decided she didn’t want to do that, and she said she was going to stay behind...stayed outside the Continental Hotel.
Leiberman: And did she give any reason why she was staying behind?
Stanbury: No, none what so ever.

We never see Jane leave with friends and walk down the footpath towards Club Bay View, or taxi coming back with friends as re - inacted. I'm just not believing anything the Lynda Donovan friend is saying and if she is ? girl, I question whether she even knew Jane before JR walked out of Conti that night. Hope she is on the witness list and I'll be aking even more qustions if she isn't! All just my opinion.

Jane in re-enactment standing beside pole outside Conti: Oh no it’s OK I’m going to hang out here a bit longer, but you guys have a good night.
Friend in taxi in re-enactment: All right, well call me tomorrow.
Jane in re-enactment: All right, cool.

Hi IC - the whole thing stinks to me. The police must think the public are stupid if they tell them they can help by identifying MM. after years of sitting on the videos. I would love the see the real tapes and debate with cops what was really going on. It's an insult to us to show us that little bit of video where Jane meets MM. The talk about interviewing everyone is rubbish. I'm sure it was shown to public for some legal reason. Or to make people feel they could help. There was a lot more going on that night. Will we ever be told? MOO

Stanbury seems to say a couple of times that they've interviewed everyone except MM, maybe he's twisting words?

Stanbury, Jane’s at top of screen now...and she’s quite focused on the Guegeri St end of ah, of the area...

Lieberman: Right

Stanbury: She walks out there to the street now...

Lieberman: OK, on her own, she’s by herself, plenty of people on the street, plenty of people spilling out of the hotel. They haven’t been able to help you?

Stanbury: Correct. We’ve identified and interviewed all of these people around here on the street , and none of them have been able to provide us with any significant information.

Lieberman: Now, we should keep pointing out that there are several security cameras, that you’ve used the vision from several cameras, you’ve utilised here, so people should, should be aware that the angles are changing...

Stanbury: Correct.

I find the video of JR outside CBV very hard to follow. But IMHO it is very clear she is waiting for some one. I don't believe it is MM. But I do believe she is expecting them to come from the top of the road. IMO it is more likely she met some one inside CBV and it is this person she is waiting for. This is why she didn't go home with her friends and I feel it is quite likely someone she already knew and didn't want her friends to know she was meeting them (for whatever reason, could be a quite legit reason). Seems absolutely bizarre her friends didn't question her more at the time?? I wouldn't leave my friend at a hotel, at that time of night unless i knew she was going to be safe. Also, you would think there would be some footage of her inside? If she was a regular you would have though some one would have noticed what she was doing/talking to inside? I also don't believe they could have possibly questioned everybody who was there that night. There would have been no records of who went in and out. Surely there were some loners there, that would have been impossible to trace? It also makes no sense as to why we are only given this awful cut up version to view. ( I do realize there are several cameras jumping). All MHO.

  • #636
Could some one please put up a map of the area which shows the exact location of each girl at the time of their last sighting. TIA

  • #637
Sorry - I cant watch it again for the 10,000th time, but... Do they say ever say MM is yet to be identified? Or just "the one person you are yet to interview" & "hasn't come forward". I think they know who MM is & its a load of bs. That whole CI episode is full of mistakes. You never see JR with 3 female friends. FWIW, & I have attempted to question this previously without response - the person of most interest to me is the guy who keeps staring at her near the end of the footage. Did you allude to him above IC? He walks out and joins a group of people behind the bouncers when the footage switches to the 2nd camera (same angle as we see MM from). To me, he looks like the same guy who's walked out with another male just before all the girls leave originally, & his friend pays her just as much attention the first time - he's suss as to me.

Iirc correctly they identified everyone at the pub. They had CCTV, then staff and bouncers could name a few to start the ball rolling.
Remember this is a neighbourhood pub where punters drank where they lived, went to primary school, high school, university or worked in area.
It's not some pub in middle of big tourist area.
It was always easy to find out who was who back then.

IMO it's irrelevant that JR's friends didn't talk to her or interact with her at all times when they exited Conti or returned from CBV.
They weren't joined at hip! They were at their local pub. Rach person knew someone that they chatted to outside Conti. And because camera jumps, it appears that the friends ignore JR.
