Not unless it was in the last week or so. There'd be too many non police officers involved in the searching, recovery, transport, the morgue etc etc, for such a fact not to become common knowledge after a while.
Other things yeah, because not so many outsiders would know.

Well thats more to what I was assuming, I know BE is due back in court not this Wednesday but the following......It's almost been a year since his arrest and he still has not entered a plea which kinda says theres a little more than this than meets the eye to the average fellow like myself, however I know nothing about the judicial process or court procedures, but I would have thought that if you were entirely innocent you would at least have had your attorney issue a statement asap. since the arrest I would imagine the western Australia police force would be doing everything to tighten their case with all the current evidence and new evidence that may have attained I thought as the day comes closer to BE having to enter a plea now might be the time his attorney might negotiate a deal which includes him escorting police to the remains of SS. I really hope all families affected receive closure, will be looking forward to what happens next in regards to the court procedure and wether or not BE pleads guilty

canningvale, The Commotion is mentioned in this article that Innerchild posted:
Here's a blow up.
"Heard a scream on Monday morning"
"Brawl involving young people"

Edit.
Didn't realise Innerchild replied. I was occupied watching the live broadcast from LIGO about the gravity waves, and also catching up with the verification of the deaths of Abu Sayyaf terrorist leaders Isnilon Hapilon and Omarkhayam Maute in Marawi. So was a bit preoccupied tonight.

Cheers for the Welcome :blushing:
Aaargh! It's kinda confusing about what can and can't be spoken about here...with or without links etc...Though one thing that I can clear up and that is...the two 'Michelles' are not one and the same.
I know this because I knew one of them and that there is and age difference between the two.

So where are all the older/longtime posters gone? I noticed while reading that quite a few dropped off as newby's arrived...So yeah I hope I don't scare anyone off  Come back regulars...You guys rocked!

As frustrating as it is...this is gonna be a loooong court process and I just hope the correct and true justice is served for the sake of the Girls and their Families :rose::rose::rose:

I have posted all this info before, and while it is easy to forget I really expect sleuthers to read the posts. Not saying anything about you or anyone in particular, of course. I lived in Forrest St for two years in a share house while going to Uni when I first arrived in Perth. I joined Cott and stayed with them for a number of years after I moved, when I joined another SLSC closer to home. I was a member but not living at Cott in 1988. Fiat wasn't in the water for three days, IMO. I did talk with the club guys, mostly older retired, who were on the beach that day and saw the Fiat. They talked about it for up to a year after that I can remember. They talked about how it was impossible for the Fiat to have entered the ocean and talked about it having to be disposed of by boat and car crushers, which I listened to but couldn't comprehend. If I had seen the damage to the car, or a picture of it, I may have taken them more seriously. I think if the image of the car was published at the time and not 12 years later, many more people would have been asking questions. I've independently calculated the huge amount of force it would taken to cause that damage (using a control if you remember). I am open to the damage to roof being caused by being winched in, knowing that strong cable was used, as well.

Hey IC (and other sleuths)
Do you know:
A) who first found the Fiat?
B) who reported the discovery?
C) to which organisation the person first reported the Fiat?
Eg) local cops or Cott Council?

TIA

Good links petedavo.

Not confident of anything at all to do with Julie's disappearance but I keep coming back to ...

The drivers door and window were open indicating someone got out in a hurry. Window likely down before going into the sea as a safety precaution ie. if the door slammed shut and they couldn't get it open to exit they could get out the window quickly.

There's also the contents of the car, back seat and mat that washed up but no Julie, not one of her shoes and no handbag. It's possible she may have managed to get out of the car, was intercepted by a great white or drowned unable to swim the 35m to shore which really isn't very far (I suspect it was closer) and a predator took her.

No idea what the odds of that are but pretty sure the odds a young woman being out on her own and becoming the victim of sexual assault and/or very serious crime are probably better.

I'm not entirely confident that the Fiat was driven into the ocean. There is plenty of evidence of rogue waves in Perth and people who study them, like this bloke. http://www.web.uwa.edu.au/people/scott.draper
Example
http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/sut/unwt/2015/00000033/00000002/art00002
I think the weird damage might be now likely from a wave rolling the vehicle and carrying it away.
Why the Fiat was at the beach though remains unknown.

No don't know who first discovered and reported Fiat. Not club members afaik. Most probably a early morning jogger who saw the lights and reported to police. It wasn't an issue among the guys who witnessed the car (after it was seen). No one spoke about Fiat being there for days as IMO it wasn't. It would have been impossible for it not to have been noticed with the normal activities on Cott beach. There was no talk of rouge waves and weather charts for 22nd show even lower swells and wind than 20th June 1988. What you need to explain is how the back seat washed up south of the groyne two days before the Fiat entered the water, IMO.

PS I swam bog laps between pylon and groyne along with a steady number of others. We weren't the 'bobbies' swimming around mid beach, Spooks.

Last time I said I was confused I ended up in the 'starting with C' and rhyming with 'jeweler'. Can you clear up about the two Michele's Occula?

As far as I've read, one lived in Mosman Park had Mallard stay on her couch and put in a dodgy statement to Caporn helping to nail Mallard. Caporn then helped her find a better Homeswest house. Michele was also mentioned by Droc many times as the beautiful and manipulative helper to get victims into taxi's and turned up on cctv footage at nightspots.

I'd appreciate your clarification and willingness to clear this up.

What's everyone's thoughts on JCs items perhaps turning up on different beaches? As Pandit has mentioned there's her shoes and handbag. Although the car's back seat didn't go very far, but I suppose that would have floated.

Cv, i think most likely any things set adrift from out of the car went southward up to 20km or perhaps up to 50km .
But that is only if it occurred on the 1st night when the wave action was high .
There may not have been anything in the car to begin with so there wasnt anything but the seat and floormat found .
If it happened on the 2nd or 3rd night stuff would not likely traveled as far and more likely could have drifted into shore during the storm on the 25th when wind blew onshore.

If, JCs bag was to have turned up on a beach and someone found it, there may not have been any identification in it.
Remembering that her wallet was at home, and possibly had her driver's licence in the wallet.

Also, other things in the bag, with her address on it, like a prescription would have gone soggy from the water and became unreadable.

Hey Occula, welcome! Did you know Droc's Michelle?

Having put some thought into BRE as a teenager - evidently, as well as a younger brother, there’s a younger sister too. I wonder what it was like when the siblings bought friends’ home. Perhaps if the friend felt awkward they wouldn’t have returned.

Could it be possible the siblings wondered why friends didn’t return. There are also nieces and nephews who may have felt uncomfortable too. These thoughts make me wonder if BREs parents sensed anything and what that might have been.

As an adult we don’t know what interaction BRE had with his parents and siblings. However, when the Fountain Way property was sold BRE did move back with his parents. These are only my thoughts and opinion.

Agree not much in the bag to identify her possibly left Canningvale but the police and press were keen to find it, a picture of one that looked just like hers was in the paper. I think most locals would have been on the lookout, if someone found it without realising it was Julie's what are they going to do with a soggy dinged up handbag? Probably just toss it back into the sea or poke it with a stick before leaving it there for someone else to pick up.

Hi Innerchild,

Noted that the ignition was on and also that the lights were on but we know the motor wasn't still running same as the headlights may also have died even if the switch was in the "ON" position.

Is there anything in the press that states the headlights were still live and beaming do we know?
