My thoughts are that the CSK, whoever he may be, perhaps may have selected the Claremont area for abducting women because he is/was a motor racing fan, which may have attracted him into the area - there was once a speedway in Claremont. Perhaps after the speedway he ventured, nearby to one of the Cottesloe hotels, and afterwards to the nightclubs at Claremont.

In the past, one of our forum members (spooks) has questioned where the CSK may have spent time as a youth - which held good memories for him. My thoughts are perhaps the CSK watched or partook in illegal street drag-racing. JMO..

Recently, a couple of forum members have posted places in which illegal street racing once took place - south-eastern suburbs. In particular, the first three places interest me the most...

1. Anketell Rd (Note: possibly had a previous name) - JRs D-site
2. Pipidinny rd on atleast one occasion - CGs D-site
3. Cutler Rd, Jandakot

4. Hope Rd, Jandakot
5. Acourt Rd, Canning Vale (Unsure if it was Acourt Rd)

Listed below is the information within the posts uploaded by BeGumShoe, beyK123 and Kambo. They've all been snipped for brevity...

BeGumShoe - 15-11-2017 - Post No. #1241
In the early 1990’s there was an illegal street drag racing culture in Perth. And I can remember 3 specific sites:
1. Ankatel rd (which I think had another name then).
2. In Jandakot in a secluded industrial area.
3. Pipidinny rd on atleast one occasion.

BeGumShoe - 17-11-2017 - Post No. #1331
It was in the 90’s and from memory it was near where Berrigan meets Karel av. I do remmember an old abandoned mansion on the corner of the road?

beyK123 - 29-11-2017 - Post No. #1455
In response to the earlier discussion regarding illegal street racing locations in Perth during that time period, after a quick google search I came across a forum thread where someone briefly mentions Cutler Road in Jandakot. Sorry if someone has already posted this link.

Kambo - 19-11-2017 - Post No. #1351
Think it was Hope road / Training place, pre Roe hwy it looked a lot different. I think there was another one out the back of Canning Vale that was more towards the eastern side of Jandakot Airport. I think that was called Hope road aswell.

Kambo - 19-11-2017 - Post No. #1361
It was more out Nicholson/Warton road way, not far from the prison. Looking at a map Acourt road could be it. It was very long and straight and full of junk dumped on the side of the road...

When Scott Fenton died in 1989, that was believed to have been illegal drag racing on Marmion Avenue in Hillarys. Coincidentally between Scott place and Fenton Way. Another possible illegal drag racing place in Perth in the late 1980s if not 1990s. Possibly on the way to Eglinton? Just a possibility.

I've read quite a bit about Mark Dixie and the more I read the worse it gets. He'd been doing dreadful things for such a long time. One article advises he'd been in Busselton and Bunbury WA. Someone also asked when he arrived in WA. The article advises about March 1996, but I've read beforehand January 1996. At one stage he worked in the western suburbs as a chef.

What's interesting about Dixie is that he left DNA at one of his early crime scenes in the U.K. and years later the police matched it up to the DNA left at Sally Bowman's crime scene. After he left WA he killed Sally in the UK. Dixie was famous for exposing himself and performing grossly indecent acts. He performed one of those acts from outside a phone box - whilst a young woman was inside the phone box.

I thought I'd mention that because MD arrived in WA early 1996 and SS disappeared Jan 27 1996. Shortly before disappearing SS had been at the phone box on the corner of Stirling Hwy and Stirling Rd.

Only my thoughts and opinions.

Dixie was ruled out in 2006. There are several media reports at the time. This one specifically references SS.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2006-12-07/uk-man-ruled-out-as-suspect-in-claremont-killings/2147790

From articles I have read timeframe was April 2006 and previous to that in Sydney.

2 quotes from http://courtnewsuk.co.uk/mark-dixie/

But detectives in Western Australia and in Britain do not believe Dixie is responsible, largely because his method was always to attack victims close to his home.

He escaped justice for nine months because his DNA sample was not on the police computer, despite his convictions for serious offences dating back to 1986.

The mind boggles at the rational for the first quote and the inefficiency of UK police in the second, especially after the Yorkshire ripper.

It echos what the police officer said to me when I rang to give the phone no about the taxi in Wellard "We don't need it we've got our man"

So no further inquiry into if there was possibly another involved etc.

Didn't think Marion Avenue went beyond BEACH Rd back in the 80's though. My uncle had just built a house in Duncraig in late 70's and it was all Bush north of Beach Rd then. We'd need either some early maps to get an idea of when what roads existed

That could give someone the impetus to build a time lapse of the urbanisation of Perth hopefully. I'll have to dig around and see if I can dig out a time line of the Telstra Complex at 138 Kewdale Rd, and the drainage compensation basin adjacent to it, for clues to the likelihood of finding SS. It's been postulated that Telstra technicians were moved from Ewing St Bentley to 138 Kewdale Rd in early 1990's with the section housed in demountables whilst the complex was being built. If we could find a Landgate image to confirm that, and that the compensation basin back then wasn't fenced and had vegetation cover it might give more impetus to Police to undertake a thorough search of the sites IMO.

More reading about Mark Dixie, He boasted of being the ‘life and soul of the party’ who could drink massive amounts of lager and snort cocaine ‘like a vacuum cleaner.’

It appears Dixie stayed in WA between 1996 and 1999, initially staying in Subiaco, working in the western suburbs as a chef, then later in WAs south-west - Busselton and Bunbury.

1998
– June 21 - Attacked a 19 year-old Thai student at her home, when he was staying just 200 yards away in the suburb of Subiaco. She was stabbed eight times and blacked out as Dixie pulled down her pyjamas and raped her before running off. Although he left his DNA behind he was never suspected of the attack, although just ten months later he was deported following another sex crime.

Although he had left his DNA behind but was never suspected of the attack – doesn’t make sense!

1999
- New Year’s Day, Dixie had spotted a young woman running along the road near Bunbury. He was fined a total of 750 Australian dollars at the Busselton Court of Petty Sessions three days later and was sent back to the UK on April 1999.

I’ve read beforehand that the Australian police didn’t touch-base with the U.K police about the crimes. Where’s the duty of care?

Maybe leaving his DNA behind was part of a consensual sex act ?

If it was consensual why has the FMO got a sample of it. With Dixie appearing to have mastered the art of time travelling and popping up in the east and west at will, has any thought gone into how he could do that and not be tracked. I'm sure he could easily get a passage on a working boat as a cook no questions asked. I think his whereabouts at any given time are not set in concrete.

There had been a complaint and an examination, else why would they have the DNA. If there is an examination of a complainant then it is done by SARC under the supervision of a FMO (forensic medical officer.

I didn't know what FMO meant either, but was reluctant to ask, in-case people thought I was stupid. You don't mind asking questions though.

Attempted murder with consent? Interesting Spooks. Did you miss the bit where he stabbed her 8 times as well or were you thinking perhaps she consented to sex after he climbed in her window with a balaclava on?

His DNA wasnt on file, they didnt have a match to anyone until it was matched to DNA found on Sally Bowmans body. The Leederville victim flew in and testified at his trial. The ******* had the audacity to deny he committed that offence and suggested she may have been a massage parlour worker or a prostitute he had used.

I was keeping an open mind - (and as you also mention), the perp may have had consensual sex with the victim, and then (later on broke into her home) committing the crime.
Exactly what Dixie himself said - so thank you noname for posting that bit of info, therefore backing up my post.
Cheers [emoji16]

Thanks for this Metic

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...nnes-killer--struck-before.html#ixzz4zuB3A9u8

When Dixie strolled into a cafe in Perth in January 1996, he introduced himself as Shane Turner, a top chef who had worked in restaurants around Europe and Australia. The owner, Anthony McMahon, hired him for £160 a week. Mr McMahon recalls: "He could be moody at times, but I put that down to him being a chef."
Dixie rented a flat a few miles away, near the coastal suburb of Claremont. Sarah Spiers, 18, went missing the same month that Dixie arrived at the cafe. Her body has never been found.

Everyone read the full article. Again the cold case team are able to piece together enough info to chase him to the UK. There was DNA left at the Thai girls attack they may not have known his name then but when he was in deportation detention they would (or should) have taken a DNA sample and they would of had confirmation of his name from his passport. If not how did they know where to send him back to.
