I think the boys may have meant the windows were tinted black. In the states, you can either get it professionally done, or buy tint paper at the store. It is a sticky mess to do yourself, unless you possess the skills. It covers the windows so that one cannot see inside, yet while inside the vehicle, you can see out. Window tints. That must be what the boys meant by "blacked out windows"

Same here Meow..you can either apply the tint yourself which usually ends up looking like a 4 year old has done it or you get have it professionally done.....I just wish we knew more about this van..is is a big van or a new van or a clapped out rustbucket..what colour where the plates ......even if its got nothing to do with the suitcase boy it would be nice to see the driver caught and questioned.

Dingo, i would guess it'd be a work type Ford Econoline type van.. as opposed to a family van model of a sort. Maybe the perv is trying to pass himself off as a workman.
What is this perv is a traveling American, say he may have got over there with a boy, then killed him, then went looking for another similiar in looks to the first (id purposes) to bring him to another country?

Just watching the news and they are saying the young boy in the suitcase could be as young as 2, still having trouble trying to identify the young boy.
Residents close to where the boy was found have set up a memorial, and have laid lots of flowers at a cross erected at the scene.

Its scarey to think about Meow..that could explain why the poor little fellow has not been reported missing..

It's illegal in a lot of states though. Certain light tinting for blocking the sun and whatnot is allowed though.

Ever see a body that's been in the water though? I'm sure that's why the boys first thought it was a pig.

Sami, I'm sure you can correct me if I'm wrong but is it safe to assume from the way the child was put in the suitcase that it probably would've been done right after death? Before rigor mortis? So far they think the child has been dead for at least 4 days. Any clues from that ya think?

Also curious why the LE is stating "to murder a child" for instance. I understand why they'd be investigating it as a murder but wondering if they just aren't saying anything till the autopsy is complete.

Also couldn't they get an accurate age by the teeth? If anyone knows.

Thankfully Ive havent seen a body that has been in water nor do I ever want too ....the first reports out said that he was in the early stages of decomosition which would give hope that a sketch could have been done of the boys face, but now they are not even sure how old he is.
There was just a bit on ther news saying that if he was as young as two then there was very little hope of dental dental records and no hope of school records.

I think there is a great chance this could be murder, Im sure the little boy didnt climb in a suitcase and throw himself in the water, somebody is responsible for this little boys death.

Boy in suitcase 'may have been infant'

The murdered boy whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase and floating in a Sydney park pond may have been as young as two, police say.
Police at first thought the boy found by local children on Wednesday in a pond at Ambarvale, in Sydney's southwest, was between five and 10 years old.

Al B, your link says the suitcase is probably 14 or 15 years old.

With the child possibly being as young as 2, I am really thinking the parents may be responsible. I hope someone notices a very young child is no longer around and calls it in.

yes and chances are the parents are young too if it is them
but I did watch the NZ news about a story of a man searching for his daughter and the mother had been using fake documents to travel the world

I've read about that case too. I wonder if this is a local boy or someone brought him there from another country.

Just the title of this thread makes me feel so sad for this little boy. I know he's happy now, and not in any pain.

Suitcase Boy May Have Known Killer
Police doubt that a little boy found dead and stuffed in a suitcase floating on a suburban Sydney duck pond was abducted before he was murdered.
Parents in Ambarvale, where the boy's body was found, fear reports of a man in a white van approaching local children in recent weeks may be connected to the discovery of the naked body wrapped in plastic on Wednesday afternoon.
A police spokeswoman today said detectives would investigate the suspicious van but they suspected it may prove to be a red herring.
The case does not appear to fit the profile of an abduction as no children matching the boy's age - thought to be between four and eight - have been reported missing in NSW.
Missing persons databases nationwide were being checked, the spokeswoman said.
Detective Superintendent Geoff Beresford of the Homicide squad today said it was more likely the boy was killed by someone he knew rather than by a kidnapper.
"It doesn't have the same circumstances surrounding an abduction," he told ABC Radio.
"You would have, I would think, parents or relatives reporting the child missing if it was your traditional abduction.
"Having said that, we're still open minded. We can't discount it, but the circumstances just don't fit the profile."

I am sure he didn't and that's not what I was suggesting.

All of NSW has been checked and aparently we have no children fitting his profile reported as missing at the moment.....I suppose the police will look further afield if nothing turns up in the local area.
Houses overlooked this duckpond which makes you think that the boy was dumped there out of neccessarty..anyone with more time would have found a better spot....this little boy may have been found not too far from home:(

More than likely this child was killed by his caretakers. At least they didn't follow the current fad of declaring him kidnapped in order to throw off the investigation.
