Any update on this?

Unfortunately not. If it was her choice to leave, I would think eventually she would need to renew the registration on both the car and caravan [alerting police]. Driving them around Australia unregistered would also bring unwanted attention to herself [if she doesn't want to be found]. Catch 22 there. She may be staying with someone with the car/caravan hidden in a shed. Many possibilities.
