Australia - Frances Crawford 49, found dead after suspicious lawn mower accident in Queensland.

A pilot’s account of his wife’s death – and what police think happened

Behind a paywall, I think. Posting it here for those who subscribe.

(outline paraphrased)

Crawford got home from work, Frances was making chicken curry for dinner
He gave her a hug, and asked about her medical appointment
They ate, then read the bible, prayed together, and played some games
He received work related calls
Went and sat with Frances, watching something on TV, snuggling together with a heated blanket
Crawford went to bed at 9:45pm (thought he sent Frances a signal message saying he was going to bed, really tired)
Frances was a night owl

No signal messages between them from 5.20pm to 11.20pm
Frances called her son for 43 mins at 7:13pm
11:21pm Frances messages Crawford - are you going to put the mower away soon
11:24pm Replies - just doing SDO stuff
11:25pm Replies again - give me a sec
11:26pm Replies again - you can just turn off sprinklers if it is easier
12:28am Replies again - finished my stuff, brushing my teeth, are you coming to bed soon?
12:30am Replies again - come to bed
12:35am Replies again - getting sleepy
3:30am Crawford's Garmin records 974 steps
3:37am Crawford dials triple zero

Somewhere in there, while in bed he reached for Frances, she wasn't there, he went looking for her, couldn't find her, went outside and found the mower and her

Frances suffered multiple injuries ... including a 16-centimetre scalp laceration, large scalp bruises, facial bruises, abrasions on the neck and under the chin and rib fractures. Ambulance found her cold and stiff. :(

Possible causes of death - hypovolaemic shock due to haemorrhage from scalp laceration, neck compression, traumatic asphyxia, positional asphyxia.

7NEWS can reveal explosive evidence against the man accused of murdering his wife and staging it as a lawnmower accident. Court documents detail Robert Crawford's frantic call to paramedics, and a crucial clue hidden in a pair of ugg boots. #7NEWS

The BT paywalled article says ugg boots not worn on lawn adjacent to house (not enough grass on bottom of ugg boots), left ugg boot was on Frances, right ugg boot was laying adjacent to her.
20cm piece of grass between her toes of right foot (inside sock).
Eleven prickles inside pajama top and bottoms.

Neck injuries very rare as traumatic fractures - hyoid bone and thyroid cartilage fracture - unlikely to be caused by impact forces of mower.

“The prosecution’s botanical expert, Gordon Guymer, found Mrs Crawford’s ugg boots were “not worn onto the lawn adjacent to the house”, and if they had have been, then there would have been considerably more pieces of grass in the tread.
The left ugg boot was still on Mrs Crawford’s body at the crime scene, while the right was adjacent to her, the analysis says.

A 20 centimetre long piece of grass was found between her toes on the right foot, with Guymer saying it was highly unlikely she would have put her sock on with the piece of grass between her toes, or the grass being present in her sock before she put it on.

Guymer also found there were fruits of cobbler’s pegs, or prickles, on the inside of Mrs Crawford’s pyjama top and pants. He found it was unlikely the 11 prickles were present when the pyjamas were put on given the discomfort they would have caused to the wearer and their skin.”

Amazing the Judge granted him bail knowing all
of this!!!

😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑

Prosecutors say that the motive was because Frances was leaving him for the final time
And yet, they had what amounts to a perfect night together, snuggling under the blanket, playing games, reading the Bible together.

Call me skeptical.

Trying to find something not behind a paywall.

I think this one is behind a paywall.

Family and friends say he couldn't have done what he's accused of because of his Christian principles

That article says he told 000 that he thought Frances was okay, but to send an ambulance ASAP.
The paramedics found Frances stiff and cold! She had obviously been deceased long enough for rigor mortis to set in.

They must be talking about his birth family. This article says his 3 children are estranged from him.

Their 3 adult children say he is abusive, explosive, unpredictable, aggressive, controlling, manipulative, with violent outbursts. That they grew up walking on eggshells and being fearful of him.

Committal hearing in October.

Pilot charged with murdering wife told triple-0 operator he thought she was okay

A committal hearing has been set down for three days in October where it is expected his defence team will cross examine witnesses.

Until then, Mr Crawford remains on bail under strict conditions.

Tootsie .... kind of the way any narcissist I may have known in the past would blame someone else

My eyes rolled so many times when I read that article ... I will have to put my faith in those investigating and taking this to trial that they have enough evidence to prove guilt

IMO

Not strict enough.

Streams me he had ANY freedom.
