"A desperate search is underway for a missing 14-year-old girl who hasn't been since Thursday afternoon in Melbourne.

Georgia Watson was last seen at 1:30 near her school in Sunshine West on Glengala Road.

Her family and officers are worried for her safety and say her disappearance is out of character.

She was wearing a blue adidas jumper with white hoodie attached, black leggings and black Nike sneakers.

Georgia is known to frequent the Melton and Sunshine areas.
