Looking at the dates of the different jobs, at least some of them could have just been casual, covering maternity/sick leave, etc... hence the high number of childcare centres involved.

I don't remember other similar investigations recently in which police have clearly asked victims to get tested, so it's reasonable to assume that the alleged perp may really have some sort of sexually transmissible disease.

Agreed. He could have been an agency worker covering a few weeks' holiday here, a few months' sick leave there. It would all have added up to frequent moves without necessarily raising red flags.

Also agreed. Here in the UK there are regular pronouncements about increasing male entry to such areas of employment as nurseries/baby and toddler childcare and primary school teaching. We need more male role models for young boys etc etc. Until something like this happens.

When I enrolled my now 2 year old daughter in daycare I made a formal request they she have no interaction with male staff. I felt like a psycho requesting this but I am so glad I did. Of course not all men in childcare are sick<modsnip> but some of them are. Do the benefits of having male early childhood educators outweigh the risks?

until police successfully sought to have a court suppression order lifted on Tuesday.

Victoria's Department of Health and Victoria Police
