Husband charged years after wife drowned while kayaking in Queensland

Police have charged a 55-year-old man with his wife's murder, years after she drowned while kayaking.

Graeme Davidson and his wife, Jacqueline Robinson, were kayaking together on Lake Samsonvale near Forgan Cove in Joyner, north of Brisbane, on November 27, 2020, when the 54-year-old woman entered the water and drowned.

Kudos to the police for continuing investigations into what, at the time, was believed to have been an accidental drowning.

GD must have felt very comfortable daring to come back into the country to visit family.

IMO

RIP Jacqueline Robinson

A thought came to me.
Was she already dead before going out on the kayak.
Maybe he drowned her at home.

Were there witnesses who saw them go out on the kayak and thought there was something strange, ie the woman was slumped over.

Anyway it's just something that entered my mind.

I'm not sure why the father would be unhappy that the son has a place to live ?

I think, because they called it a "Love Nest" and said the SON is now living there with his dad's wife, they were inferring that the son & wife are together... Dad would not be happy about that. But I don't think that's what the article was hinting at.

Thanks, I did read that but I took it that it was a love nest for the father and his wife.
That's still how I read it.

So he's Australian and lived in Australia at the time of the death, married a Thai woman after that and moved to Thailand, came back to Australia to visit (?), was arrested while he was back in Australia? Do I have those details right? Was his first wife Australian? How long was she dead before he remarried? Was her death ever openly suspected to be other than an accident?

Not sure what is going on with the bail application. Usually it would say adjourned, or refused, but this application says “not required”.

Graeme Davidson’s matter was listed to be in court again on 19th May, 2025, but no media reports since last court date of 5th May, 2025.

“He did not appear in court and was remanded in custody after his matter was adjourned until 19 May.”

All that info is in the articles linked above 😊

Probably so, but as usual, I can't open outside links here!
Oh! Then yes, that seems to be the correct details from what I read. He left AUS about 5 months after the wife's death, remarried about 2 years after her death. Initially thought to be non-suspicious but coronial inquiry lead to detective declaring it suspicious and launching the investigation operation

So many articles mention Coronial investigation, but I can’t find anything on line about it. Perhaps the Police were only preparing a report for the Coroner?

May, 2025

However, in the months that followed, the Queensland Police Service began a coronial investigation that eventually escalated into a homicide inquiry under the name Operation Victor Harlow.”

Ms Davidson’s death was initially ruled non-suspicious, but during a lengthy coronial investigation, detectives began to probe whether it was a homicide.”

“Detective Acting Inspector Steve Windsor said detectives changed the course of their investigation about 18 months to two years after her death.”

But police investigations for a report to the coroner uncovered further evidence and a homicide probe was launched “18 months to two years” after her death.

“Police are alleging the male person was involved in the drowning in the lake,” Det acting Insp Steve Windsor told reporters on Monday.”

“Under Operation Victor Harlow, detectives gathered witness and expert statements including information about the lake’s conditions at the time of Jacqueline Davidson’s death.

The “complex and lengthy” probe led to Graeme Davidson being charged with murder, fraud and attempted fraud after his arrest in Brisbane on Sunday
