So many articles mention Coronial investigation, but I can’t find anything on line about it. Perhaps the Police were only preparing a report for the Coroner?

May, 2025

However, in the months that followed, the Queensland Police Service began a coronial investigation that eventually escalated into a homicide inquiry under the name Operation Victor Harlow.”

Ms Davidson’s death was initially ruled non-suspicious, but during a lengthy coronial investigation, detectives began to probe whether it was a homicide.”

“Detective Acting Inspector Steve Windsor said detectives changed the course of their investigation about 18 months to two years after her death.”

But police investigations for a report to the coroner uncovered further evidence and a homicide probe was launched “18 months to two years” after her death.

“Police are alleging the male person was involved in the drowning in the lake,” Det acting Insp Steve Windsor told reporters on Monday.”

“Under Operation Victor Harlow, detectives gathered witness and expert statements including information about the lake’s conditions at the time of Jacqueline Davidson’s death.

The “complex and lengthy” probe led to Graeme Davidson being charged with murder, fraud and attempted fraud after his arrest in Brisbane on Sunday
.”

Maybe that's just what they call the investigations for a report to the coroner, a coronial investigation. That's what it sounds like to me. Happy to be corrected though. 🙂

I'm not sure why the father would be unhappy that the son has a place to live ?
The DM article seems to indicate the son lives somewhere else. And the son looks like an adult, not a minor. Imo.

Hamish Davidson has come down from his home in Bangkok to stay with Pick Pattraporn at the coastal resort of Hua Hin while his father Graeme languishes in an Australian prison cell

Ex-army major accused of killing wife while kayaking seeks bail

July 31, 2025

In the first major hearing in the case since the arrest earlier this year, a court has heard Ms Davidson discovered her husband was having an affair in Papua New Guinea in the years before her death.

Mr Davidson was arrested earlier this year, after he returned from overseas to visit family in Brisbane. He is facing charges of murder, fraud, and attempted fraud offences.

Ms Davidson’s death was ruled non-suspicious, but about 18 months to two years after her death, detectives began to probe whether it was a homicide.

He said there was no domestic violence history between the pair, and Mr Davidson had remained in regular contact with police and the coroner’s office since his wife’s death while he was overseas.

The bail application is scheduled to resume on Friday.“

‘Unless death is contagious’: Court told of murder-accused ex-army major’s statement after wife’s drowning death

“A court has been told of the alleged four words an ex-army major charged with murdering his wife made to bystanders just after she drowned on a kayaking trip.

According to a statement read out in court as part of his bail application, bystanders are alleged to have asked Mr Davidson if Jacqueline had any diseases.

Mr Davidson is alleged to have replied: “Unless death is contagious.”

A court has been told how Ms Davidson had discovered her husband was having an affair with a woman in Papua New Guinea in 2019.

She had discussed ending the marriage but ultimately did not pursue this action.

Mr Davidson’s bail application will resume on August 6.“

"A man charged with his wife's alleged murder after she drowned on a kayaking trip
claimed they were not wearing life jackets
because they had been 'eaten by rats'."

The old "rats ate the life jackets" excuse.

Odd they would have a "safe word" for each other, but would risk kayaking without life preservers. And he's goofing off on the kayak without one? I don't know if his description of events indicates a habit of taking risks or a habit of feeling safe together.

I'm curious if it is characteristic of the wife to be willing to go into the kayak without safety gear - is she the type to take risks or does she feel more comfortable following protocols. (My hunch is she would insist on the life preservers, but idk.)

It is rather difficult to fall out of a kayak. I'm not even sure how one would do that. It's not like falling out of a canoe, which would be easy. Has anyone here ever fallen out of a kayak?

There was a case on the Hudson River where a girlfriend claimed her boyfriend capsized in a kayak. He drowned. I think many that involved rough waters? I don't recall the details, but that is what comes to mind.

FWIW, his story about standing in the kayak off-putting. He's not 15 years old.
