JS has 2 matters at Penrith court on the 19th July. They could be the break and enter, or possession of rifle and ammo, interfering with a corpse, or there is still the matter of possessing child abuse material and *advertiser censored*. Oh, also there is breach of bail…. I guess these 2 matters could be regarding any of these charges. IMHO

The case numbers are quite close together so I wonder if that means they are for things where the charges were laid at the same time..? I guess we’ll find out in a few weeks. I also wonder if he’ll now plead guilty to at least some of the other charges he’s facing given that whatever sentence he’s given it’s likely to be served concurrently with his sentence for murder.. seems like more trials would likely be a waste of money at this point.

I hadn’t seen reference to a Readiness Hearing before but found this info from the NSW Court.

The Judge presiding on JS’s cases on 19th July, is Judge Craig Everson.

Judge Everson presided over Christopher Dawson’s recent trial.

I just contacted Penrith court as the 2 cases have disappeared from the NSW online Registry. It was explained to me that there was a vacancy today so the matters were moved to today, and then they were adjourned until 6th September, 2024, again at Penrith Court. Which will be 2 weeks after his sentencing date, 23rd August.

Thanks. I will try to attend that, though I expect it will be packed with media.

Only 10 mins to go until Stein’s case starts! Not the media throng that was expected…. But cameras were accumulating outside when I arrived. One. Cameraman said he was waiting on Stein’s family members.

More to come….

Charlise’s Grandfather is here.

Stein has been brought in. Same suit as in the trial, absolutely crushed and wrinkled so badly. Bushy goatee, rather messy hair, and large pupils. He immediately asked for a glass of water.

Kallista Mutten will read out her Victim Impact Statement from a remote call, via AVL.

The Grandparents, Clint and Deborah Mutten also have prepared a Victim Impact Statement and Clint Mutten will read that statement here in person in Court. Kallista’s statement will be heard first.

I feel the court proceedings are keeping Mr Stein from having a sleep! Long blinks….

Kallista said that “Charlise wanted a Dad….she trusted me in my judgement and I hate myself for it”.

Charlise’s school now have an award named after her, given to children who are “good, true and beautiful”.

Stein had trouble staying awake.

Crown is now suggesting to the court that “a life sentence is the only punishment appropriate”. He is still summing up his submissions.

Ms Davenport has submitted that “it would be cruel to send a 32 year old man to prison for the rest of his life”!!!!!!

Ms Davenport also stated “it is possible, if not likely that some form of protection will be needed - which means a long time in isolation.”

Judge Wilson has just announced she will sentence Mr Stein on Monday next week, 26th August.

There are mothers who like to see their children as the grownups, while they themselves stay childish.

Charlise was 9. Her mother left her alone for the night with this man, and showed no interest in her wellbeing when she was missing the next day... It seems the mother only got angry at her boyfriend because he'd been communicating with another woman.

Nine year olds don't have any choices about whether to trust their mothers or not. They are still entirely dependent on their mothers.
