'Glen, what happened?': Roger Rogerson takes the stand at Jamie Gao murder trial

A hyperventilating Glen McNamara told former NSW policeman Roger Rogerson the Sydney storage shed they were in would soon be "swarming with Chinese assassins" as university student Jamie Gao lay dead, a court has heard.
The 75-year-old Rogerson took to the witness box at his NSW Supreme Court trial on Friday to give his version of the events of May 20, 2014.
"Glen, what the f*** happened?" Rogerson told a jury he had asked McNamara when confronted by the sight of Mr Gao lying apparently dead on the floor.
His co-accused in Mr Gao's murder, McNamara, has testified it was Rogerson who shot the alleged drug dealer - over a botched drug deal - and that he was coerced into disposing of the body.
But Rogerson denied this.
Instead, the former NSW policeman described how a "white as a ghost" McNamara told him Mr Gao had shot himself in the chest with his own gun while the two men struggled, after the student tried to carjack McNamara.
Rogerson said he had agreed to be a lookout at the meeting which McNamara had told him was with an informant on triads for a book he was writing.
"He (McNamara) said, 'I was able to grab hold of his (Mr Gao's) hands and I was lucky enough to twist the gun around'," Rogerson told the court.

Jamie Gao murder trial: Rogerson and McNamara gave 'unbelievable' versions of events, court hears

During his evidence, McNamara said he was meeting Mr Gao as a source for a book he was writing about Asian crime gangs but learnt that Mr Gao was being followed by triads.
Mr Maxwell dismissed this, saying McNamara and Rogerson did things in preparation for the killing.
"Both of them knew what was to happen after Jamie Gao entered unit 803 at 1:46pm on the 20th of May," he said.
"It's clear one of the accused shot Jamie Gao.
"To convict both accused, you don't have to be satisfied beyond reasonable doubt, who was the shooter."

The prosecutor's closing address continues.

 I'm with this. It was planned imo that Gao would die, it's irrelevant who shot him.

Whooooot .. May they both be found guilty and spend the rest of their lives in jail. Looking forward to the post sentencing media stories where everything they've been forced to suppress can be printed.

yep, stupidity and arrogance. Rogerson thought he was invincible, if he did it alone, he might well have got away with it.

Good cops everywhere despise this p.o.s! How many he was blackmailing to keep silent, can you imagine Rogerson having any dirt on you? He would hold it over your head for the rest of your life! He's a delusional narcissist, prison life for him will not punish him, he'll get his narcissistic supply from the other inmates and the media, he'll continue having the attention he craves!

It's a tragedy that Jamie had to lose his life to bring this man and his cohort to justice. :(
