Maybe the stalker who was leaving those notes was pinching some of her mail to find out about her, and discarded them down the drain later. Don't suppose they photographed the contents ..... err, let me guess, the photographs have gone missing alsoo_O
Thanks drsleuth :)
Nothing in this case is simple ( well things that should be simple aren't ) ............so frustrating

Looking forward to another episode tomorrow :)

I love in the last episode where Hedley says to Kylie " How do you get all this stuff ( she was showing Hedley the "mug shots" that LB was shown ) , these are internal police files?" & Kylie replies " I know I know , and even my detectives this time rounds said to me " Kylie how come you have so much ? " Kylie than says I have the CCTV footage from the night she went missing , how do you have that they say? Kylie responds " I don't know how I have these things, I just have them!"

Good that she has some control :D

Oooh, good episode coming, whoa, and it sounds like Kylie's got it covered, well done there .... I look forward to hearing that one .... hanging out for No.5 at this point, alas and woe.
That's interesting about the mug shots - did they say who they were of, and if AJ was one of them, and if she said "no" to his mug? Perhaps they should have had a arm line-up since they seemed pretty distinctive ... MOO. LB certainly gave a lot of detail about the fellow she saw near Machattie Park ..... "hairy arms down to first knuckle, identification bracelet, watch with stretchy band, dark hair, fair complexion, boof-head or square head, bumpy nose like pimples, little box hanging on rear vision mirror"!! And then we have the number plate description which she says seemed to have paint running off it in the rain, as though it had been manipulated with. AJ's number plate was TCV836, LB from memory said ICU730 (after losing the paper she wrote it on) - not too hard to change the
T to an I, the V to a U, the 6 to a 0 - and possibly got the number 8 and 7 wrong, fair enough, from memory, she did a brilliant job. Surely, come on ..... all this info would have led to something .... it's mind blowing, hey ..... MOO
There's a spoiler alert button here .... per chance ;)

I think alot of the detail came from being hypnotised?

Ah yeah, drsleuth, I forgot about that, yes, there was a second statement made about a month later after hypnosis, but I think it included additional details such as .... a sticker on the back window of the car, wiper in the middle of back window, chubby face, big hands, dashboard mat grey, with the letters HY and more letters then XL written on it. Possible car floor mat. Also description of the motor, over -revving. Man looked too big for car. I think all that was bonus stuff from the hypnosis, not admissible in court though.
Oooh, could that mean a Hyundai Excel?
I think I'll go buy The Australian now, maybe there's something re Janine in it today .....

Episode 7: The Cops

A local woman’s evidence was dramatic and deeply disturbing - she was adamant that she saw Janine with her hands bound with baling twine and a look of grave distress on her face while in a small red car being driven by the town’s top cop. The woman had remained silent for four and a half years but when she saw a photo of Janine in the newspaper she came forward. At the same time investigators were having another look at the police officer because of anonymous tip-offs, and then the discovery that he had arrived back in Bathurst before Janine disappeared, contrary to his earlier evidence that he was away visiting his mother. The fallout from the revelations contributed to the crippling of the murder investigation and still affects it now despite explanations of what at first appeared sinister and a cover-up.

Just out now & it's a long one 1 hr 24 mins .............off to listen

Was just having a look at DB when he was younger, he drove a Hyundai Excel .... look at his arms, his nose .... oh boy
Someone else may have been the stalker leaving the notes though.

I just listened too and agree with you. Incredible what town gossip can do. Seems to me that Hoseman did like Janine (probably as he liked many women in town) but nothing came of it, that he just mentioned he liked her to others.

I’m looking forward to the next episode on Dennis Briggs as he sounds very suspicious to me!
Me too Seriallyaddicted, he seems to tick all the boxes, his behaviour before and after the disappearance of Janine, and his physical appearance at the time. Not sure if she knew him ..... though he was said to have become interested in her a few weeks before she vanished. Episode 5 should land soon for the non-subscribers .... my number one suspect at this point

Spontaneous random thought ..... It's absolutely unacceptable that these three fellows, suspects, have been under suspicion for 19 years .... 19 years!! They can't all have committed the crime, and there's still the possibility that none of them did, and it's an unknown entity .... come on, there's a $1,000,000 reward also .... hope someone steps forward and brings this to a conclusion. I have a feeling this podcast is heading in that direction ......

Episode 5 came out today

Episode 5: Bad Denis

When Janine disappeared there was no crime scene or body.

One man in Bathurst stepped up to tell a chilling story of having raped her at White Rock and cut her throat. Denis Briggs called himself ‘Bad Denis’ when a reckless side of his bipolar personality came out. His friends and his longtime partner were horrified by his claims. They were also plausible - because Denis had a matching car and an inflation with Janine at her menswear store. He changed his appearance and got rid of the car soon after Janine vanished. Briggs has long denied his own confessions to murder which he made when he was off his medication. But some of those he told still think he did it.

Hard one to listen to0 :(
Do you think "Bad Denis" as opposed to DB could be responsible for Janine's disappearance? This Bad Denis who would appear when he was off medication and drinking heavily ... could he have completely dissociated himself from that identity? I was hoping they would have asked him if Bad Denis could be responsible, don't think I heard it asked but will have another listen.
Agree drsleuth, hard one to listen to :(

Or maybe someone who found a way to become the centre of attention?

No I don't think so. Think he was just after his 15mins of fame IMO

I also don't think BH either.........for many reasons, although he gave that whole down reason enough to suspect him.

AJ would be my main POI out of these 3. To me there are more "red flags " for AJ than anyone else. Loner type, an address on Piper St that apparently no one knew about, his description fits LB's, he had the friday off work...........etc

But I am starting to think that it is more likely someone who has completely flown under the radar.

This whole case has been damaged by all the time spent on BH ( very understandably he has done himself no favours )

Hedley said at the very end of episode 7 that the CCTV footage has been reviewed by an expert & professor in
Photogrammetry of the Tav to try to identify the likely mystery car.

The Professor " And blow & behold out came an image of a motor vehicle , I guess no one was more surprised or happy than than were"

I really hope this darn car can be identified.

Thanks, I'd just been wondering if there were a finite number of episodes or it was going to be ongoing, like the Marion Barter podcast.

I think there are just 2 more episodes left , but I highly recommend subscribing.
