It's the property where the bad smell was said to come from.

The family says that they think searching the property would be in the best interests of everyone.

I wonder what property they want the police to check. An earlier article said the police are remaining tight-lipped over whether they will search the property.

Just talked to a friend who said they heard on the radio, that there is going to be a dig to try and find Janine's remains.
Did a search and haven't found anything in MSM, and nothing in the local paper.

Just an idea. Apologies if it has already been raised.

I'm wondering whether the red car did belong to a dealer. Janine got in for a ride, or perhaps just for a spliff, intending to rejoin her friends in a minute or so. Either way, a spliff changed hands.. As she didn't have her handbag, the dealer demanded payment in kind. The perfect opportunity to fulfill a fantasy. A struggle ensued.

Of course, it doesn't help to find her.

Just wondering what a spliff is ? I don't think I've heard the word before.

Sorry. Perhaps I should have said "joint". I really meant a dose of whatever drug she was into at the time.

Thanks Bagpus :)

I sort of thought it might have been that, but it was too late to edit my post.

Local Bathurst news online had a heading today that remains have been found in the area.

Got my hopes up that it might be one of our three missing locals but it turned it is believed to be a Malaysian national who was crop sitting 40 km from Bathurst.

Human remains believed to be of missing Malaysian national ‘Jacky’ Kai Wong Chong found near Bathurst

A shock to family who thought he was here on holiday.

Behind paywall.

I wish they would find Janine :(

Kylie Spelde is aware people might be sick of hearing about the search for her sister, Janine Vaughan, who vanished almost 21 years ago.

But for Ms Spelde and her brother Adam Vaughan, Janine's disappearance is a part of their everyday lives.

The "bright, bubbly, vivacious" 31-year-old was last seen getting into a red car after a night out at a pub in the central west NSW town of Bathurst.

What happened next has been a mystery for more than two decades, and the subject of a podcast, dozens of media stories and soon a documentary.

Sometimes Ms Spelde gets recognised by strangers who have seen some of the coverage, who confuse her with Janine.

She said sometimes people saw her sister as a concept, not a real person.

"A lot of the missing people that are out there, they just get labelled as a missing person, and I think people need to start realising that they are somebody's loved one, someone's daughter, someone's mother, and sister," Ms Spelde said

As former homicide detective Gary Jubelin prepares to take his I Catch Killers Live show on the road to regional NSW and Canberra, he admits he'd love to "have a go" at the case of a missing woman from country NSW.

His five-stop tour includes a show in Bathurst, a city that has its own dark past with three long-term missing people who are presumed murdered.

Among them is Janine Vaughan, 31, who was last seen in December 2001.
"I looked at that since I've been out of the police for a TV show, and I'd like to have a go of that as a police officer. I think there's a lot of stuff there," Jubelin said.

''Just 10 minutes before missing Bathurst woman Janine Vaughan disappeared into a red car, another woman was running from a small red car in fear for her life. Podcast creator Hedley Thomas told Sky News the woman “fled down the main street of Bathurst, ran for her life, she was terrified… she hid behind a metal box on the street”. He said the incident happened mere minutes before 31-year-old Janine Vaughan was seen hopping into a red car outside Bathurst’s Metro Tavern in December 2001. ''

''Missing Bathurst woman Janine Vaughan was the victim of ongoing and serious stalking in the lead up to her 2001 disappearance, Hedley Thomas can now reveal.''

Thank you for posting. After listening to the podcast, I can’t believe this isn’t solved. Thinking of Janine’s family, very sad.
