Here is a link to a news.com.au article that has lots of comments under it. Some of them by an apparent friend of Lucas, the lad who drove off and left Jayden behind.

I did see what you are saying, if the person you are referring to was first of the rank to comment and provided some in depth details well they have deleted their comments in the last hour or so.

I am wondering if the police have been able to track his last phone conversation and where it was taken? At the early stages of the investigation they had said there were tow cars of people going up to cairns but since then there hasn't really been mention of the second car?

This place (for sale) on Stockroute Road has a red steel fence - in the stock runs - and silver coloured fencing .... but perhaps several places do, if it is a road that has plenty of stock on it, as the road name suggests.

https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-lifestyle-qld-charters+towers+city-7639427

Many moons ago my aunt had 3 sheep stations each of 63,000 acres when ‘Australia rode on the sheeps’s back’.

The properties only had a box nailed up near roadway, no gate just a cattle grid & the driveway was about 4 miles long and only when you reached the homestead you’d see the property’s name, a painted fence and possibly a goats skull or the like.
IMO it is unusual to have something likely to be stolen out near the road.

Did he drive in towards the homestead to see what is being described.

New article ... now they are trying to trace the movements of the car all throughout the day and night on New Years Eve.

BBM
About 20 police officers, 32 State Emergency Service and 12 Rural Fire Service volunteers spent the weekend and Monday searching the nearby Breddan area, but their efforts and an aerial search were unsuccessful.

Property owners are urged to continue to check their properties.

Inspector Roger Whyte said the co-ordinated multi agency response has assisted search efforts.

“In maintaining high numbers of persons it has helped to undertake an exhaustive search along many dry creek beds with heavy vegetation, within a large geographical location spanning some 85sq km,” Inspector Whyte said.

“Police are very keen to hear from any one that has seen Jayden and in particular the red Nissan Pulsar Sedan with NSW registration CN3 2ZB, within the Charters Towers area from 3am on Sunday, December 31, and throughout the day.”

If the lads did argue "possibly about money", do you think they maybe argued about drugs? As his friend said that he himself had no money and had to immediately drive to Cairns to get some? If that's true.

Maybe Jayden had scored some, and wouldn't share. Then rather than Jayden becoming enraged, maybe it was the friend who became enraged.

News.com.au understands the two men argued about something — possibly money — and Mr Penno-Tompsett, who was driving, pulled over and left the vehicle.

It's all very fishy to me! :fishy:

Still reluctant to cast assertions to Mr Tattersall, but if I were the police I'd be interviewing people he was with at the NYE party.

Assuming he actually got there, would be interested to hear what he said about the argument. Since he would of wanted to vent with someone by that point.

Interesting they have expanded the time to when he is captured on camera. Very interesting. I missed that bit. Charters towers just had a massive storm go through so weather chasers report.

Or someone was dipping into something they were taking up to Cairns ? Who knows it's certainly a long drive straight through.

This Ch7 news video says they think Jayden was seen wandering around near the Acacia Vale homestead, at some point. And they very much want to know what the car was doing all day in that area.

I think Acacia Vale homestead lies between Acacia Vale Road and Stock Route Road.

They also think Jayden is "still in the area".

I also noticed that they are now clearly showing, and stating, the car's license plate number. In the original CCTV of the car (in the police update) they had it blanked out.

I reckon the heat is on.

They would know by now what time the car got to Cairns (if at all). They would likely have other CCTV from the highway, or banks/ servos/whatever along the way. They would have the pings and usage of both the lads' phones. They would have other witness statements - people at the party, people that may have encountered one of both of the lads at different times.

I saw this acacia vale part while watching the news. I would really like to know who the community member is that said he was there - was it really community or the "mate"

Something also when watching this i missed earlier they want to know "what the car was doing in the daylight hours of January 1 2018 ??? I am going to rewatch this ? Because I thought he was at the servo 31 December 2017 3am.
Wow I watched again I'm confused with the dates now. It's a 24 hr time frame the car is in town I think they are saying !!!
The way the officer speaks it's like they actually think he was wondering on someone's property

The update - from today - on the police website contains a number of photos.
One of the photos shows Jayden about to open the driver's side door of the car, on CCTV. Presumably at the servo.
The photos also show the kind of scrubland the searchers are looking in.

What does his stance tell you? It’s not an angry or aggressive stance because he would have his legs apart pulling at the door. It’s like he’s relaxed waiting for the door to be unlocked.

Yes, I noticed that, too. Sort of sounds as though the car didn't arrive in Cairns (or wherever) until the night on 1st January, doesn't it?

I also wonder if the person who might have been seen wandering around was not Jayden himself, but another 'stranger to the town' ... perhaps the car owner. Maybe was seen from a distance, by the station owner or a worker, and they reported it. In the CCTV at the servo they are both wearing similar clothing - black sleeveless shirts, shorts.

Yep. Or sticking the key into the lock to unlock it.

I watched the CCTV of Jayden inside the servo, over and over. It looks like he has the car keys in his hand. He is also stretching and wandering. Not looking tense at all. Just cramped from driving/sitting.
