I don't know if i'm the only one that gets this feeling, but don't you feel that if the police were not suspecting it is the husband, wouldn't the police come out and ask for more help? It's as if the police have gone quiet. I find that telling. If it is not the husband, then it is someone else; but it seems as if the police know who it was and they are just putting all of the pieces together. I'm not sure if they'll have enough information, but it just seems as if the police know who it is, for it they did not, wouldn't they be making more noise in the media? They don't seem too worried and pleading for help from the public.

Absolutely correct.

I just jumped on the thread and tried to play some catch up. I'm a little puzzled about something that maybe you guys can enlighten me on. Back at the beginning of the thread it was reported that the cops believed this woman may have been murdered. After reading the initial reports though, my first thoughts were that maybe she went off by herself and committed suicide in a secret location due to the fighting and stress.

Can somebody give me a brief explanation why the cops think this is a murder ? Has some kind of evidence been collected that is pointing them in that direction?

Thanks in advance, and I'll try to refrain from asking anymore dumb questions.

I think it is hyperbole from "grave concerns" - http://www.news.com.au/national/vic...SF&utm_source=News.com.au&utm_medium=Facebook

Great answer.... personally...Im ruling out alien abduction though...

My thoughts on illness is Asthma. ..... cant back that up with a link...but Ill stick with it regardless.

Id imagine the trail is used by many locals on a regular basis...daily...not sure of traffic on a Wednesday morning at 10 though...a google earth search of the walking track can provide..... provoke some further thoughts and ideas maybe...

The sticking point for me on a domestic side ....to counter those thoughts.. is......was the daughter home or was her statement simply what was relayed to her by her Dad..being that they argued about finances ....Karen went to clear her head.....either way....its not painting a pretty picture....so would someone guilty of wrongdoing offer up such damaging statements to her disappearance....or is this honesty. ..

If the daughter wasn't present...then any other less alarming story could have been told.......its the transparency of the circumstances of her leaving..last sighting...that has me intrigued

After driving by their home on the weekend - the most obvious route would be to simply walk out the back door and you are on a walking track.....you could go for miles and miles. Whilst the walking area is a little more remote than others it is quite densely populated with homes backing directly on to the track. But why would you take a COACH handbag with $850.00 in it !!!! After years of walking around that area - I don't think I have ever seen anybody walk with a handbag especially one that you had to hold in the hand and not sling over your shoulder. A back pack yes but a handbag ....seems odd to me.

I am feeling more and more that this is a deliberate disappearance on Karen's part. I will say I think that Karen's relationships with her family (immediate and wider) and friends are not what we would expect them to be. I get this impression from both the little that has been said, and what isn't being said, even aside from the extreme allegations. I think her husband is completely aware how these circumstances come across and has no choice but to wear it. I think he is used to wearing things.

I feel icky potentially "blaming" a victim, but if I am correct she isn't the victim, her family are.

Why that amount of money .. Were they supposed to pay someone that day? I still think the husband is lying and he killed her, I also think he's lying about the cash.

Could it be float for the business? Or maybe it could be business takings which haven't been banked. It is a lot of money to carry around in this day and age for general spending.

The only thing I can think of is that she was already dressed ready to head off to either their Broadmeadows or Watergardens shop..... and maybe her phone was in her bag, so she just grabbed it as she walked out.....

The police were told Karen had $850 in her handbag. Which means someone (probably Borce) knew the exact amount she was carrying. Pretty sure my OH wouldn't have a clue what money I have in my handbag. (Very little.) :-)
So either Karen was given that money or openly said she had it. Probably a float for the shop, but still a risky amount of cash to be carrying around in a handbag.

Sadly I'm feeling the same way. Maybe it's just me but it seems like family and friends are keeping a really low profile. The main people that are saying how lovely she is are people who have visited the shop. Surface "friends" or acquaintances really not true friends...

I don't think there was any money .. That may have been part of the fight, then he conveniently disappears it along with his wife, buying time with the creditor etc, that's what I think. I don't think the murder was preplanned, I just think once it happened it was convenient to say she took the non existent money too [emoji848]

In regards to the SS it seems the day he was interviewed by police for whatever reason is the day he came out with molestation allegations. Coincidence?

I too think if the police thought there was a crazed killer on the loose they would be appealing to the public more but yet there is silence! They will rehash a news article from the previous week. If my memory serves me correctly with Jill Meagher there was a lot of news reports with the husband constantly on the news pleading for information. Granted she was found after 3 days but we saw a lot of her husband during that time. Yes he was a suspect initially but he was there bravely fronting the cameras. I see nothing from Karens family. She had her Aunt once & her husband & daughter once

Also with the $850 in cash. I wonder how he knew specifically it was $850 & not say around $1000. My partner would have no idea how much I was carrying which leads me to believe the money was for a purpose. Rent for the shop?

I'm thinking the opposite, kind of. I'm thinking there was money involved, and that it was part of the fight, but not related to creditors, more to do with someone else as in "blackmailing" maybe. She wanted to go ahead and deliver, the husband did not. I don't think the murder (IF there is one) was preplanned either. All JMOO.

I think it probably prompted them. He has said he is no longer outnumbered. He has mentioned again to only being with his mum and meeting his dad in his teens, and is positive towards his dad in that post, unless it is sarcasm. I think he believes what he says, I won't dismiss that he could have a problem with reality like a previous poster's family member, I have seen it myself what people can convince themselves of. It looks like he's had a rough life. Quite a contrast to the private school and designer label lifestyle of his sibling.

I thought rent for the shop too, but then I thought it doesn't sound like enough .. I'll see if I can find out what shops are worth to rent there, or in similar centers..

Ok it's really hard to get an accurate picture of what their rent would have been, but shops in shopping centers in Melbourne can come in at around that amount so it is possible .. I'm just unsure, we could call the centre and find out for sure, but I'm not doing it!!! [emoji851]

I would have thought most businesses do a direct bank transfer online for something like rent.

I think the $850 was either the takings from the previous day's trading to be taken back as a float that morning...or something far more sinister: blackmail money.

I know in Chadstone they come in asking for the days takings then take a % of that! Freaked my girlfriend out the first time it happened to her. She was a newly employed at a jewellery store. Im unsure if something like that would happen at that shopping centre. I've only ever driven past once & it seems as if only locals would frequent?

I do think though that $850 seems unlikely for rent it doesn't seem enough. I know I'm contradicting myself as usual :blushing:
