Well, for two weeks police were filming in there and had the entrance blocked off without even letting the residents know. They were concentrating on the walkway and right in front of it at the gap between the houses and path.
I will state also I know of the owner of the big house among other people and houses in the court. The house has been a work in progress for quite a few years and in case you were curious no major concrete work in the past year!

Two weeks? That's a lot of police manhours.

I wonder if the 'Italian lover' is actually just a friend, maybe not even a close friend, but BR didnt want her to have friends and accused her of having an affair. That could also impact how SR sees her mum if BR is feeding her lies.

With the peerless ct stuff. I wonder if KR has a usual route she takes when cooling off. Could BR have been waiting in the lane to confront her?

It certainly makes the question of if br was alone or not in the car more interesting. Did he drive back to their house from peerless first then drive to mt Macedon.

And where does blackhill Rd fit in? I still think he disposed of handbag/phones/evidence there and VR later went to search for it once they realised the police had been able to track the phones there.

Would the stormwater go directly into the river?
I recall LE were specifically searching the river for the bag.

This is is amazing, who said they had a hairdressing friend who saw Karen walking that day?!?

WHAT A TURNAROUND! My head is spinning. I was dead sure Karen was murdered in the home and didn't go for that walk.

I think the stormwater drain for that suburb would discharge into the Milleara Rd Drain. The twin Peerless Rd drainage grates look pretty big. Perhaps they access a sump pit that traps heavier sediments. Council would vacuum this occasionally.

Thanks Rich. I was hoping you'd chime in.

Any idea about how long it would take to visually inspect the drains and sump in one particular (and quite limited) area? Two weeks seems a long time to me. Maybe there was some digging involved?

__________

[OT: Deja vu Rich. Didn't we have a massive discussion about drains in relation to an unrelated unsolved case? That took almost as long as the time for the film-making on location in Peerless.]

I am probably stating the obvious but I think the most interesting thing about that little laneway from Peerless Court is that it appears to lead directly to the reserve and walking path that continue behind the Ristevski house.
Does anyone remember if the police used dogs in their initial searches of the reserve and walking tracks?

My daughter did, said her client saw her that morning. I have asked her to contact me unfortunately to no avail.

Yep that's the gap I'm talking about.

Also in reply to the previous poster also regarding the timber door with a bolt. No it's not from police.

I'll be seeing my friend tomorrow so I'll let you know of any updates over the last couple of days (if any).

Oh and Emirates, it's not unusual for that many cars to be in that court. Lots of Europeans with large families!

Thanks Mella it was almost like a street party.

Em, wish we knew on which street your daughter's client may have seen Karen that morning. Rhetorical musing on my part as we can't intrude on either your daughter's or her client's confidentiality...

It's surprising the media didn't pick up on the search and street blocks ect on pearless

And, more importantly, what time? Karen may well have gone for a walk at some early that morning (there's always a kernel of truth to every lie).

If so, at this stage, I'm not certain Karen left Avondale Heights from Peerless, and travelled directly to her lonely resting place between two logs at Mount Macedon, without returning to her home first.

Thanks Mella it was almost like a street party.

You'd think certain times of day and days of the week might put somewhat of a dampener on the Peerless street party though, ie; family members who are absent because they go to work, run businesses, attend school, etc.

Maybe the elders of multi-generational households would be at home most days but not the younger generations, other than perhaps stay-at-parents. The household demographics would be interesting (to me, anyway).

It was Emirates, tgy!! She posted about it like 2 months ago and unfortunately, I think I was the only one who jumped on it and got all excited. I've been bugging Emirates for updates---been waiting and waiting patiently for this lady who saw Karen out walking that morning to make contact with Emirates. Apparently, she lives on the same street as Karen. :scared: I'm not really surprised cause I always believed BR was telling the truth, at least, the part where he mentioned KR going for a walk that morning to clear her head. Just knowing there maybe a potential witness who saw Karen out walking, helps a great deal and yes, a massive turnaround indeed!

EDIT: Ooops, Just seen Emirates has weighed in here! :D

I am still thinking that maybe she didn't go for that walk. Maybe someone planted something in the drain (bag/wallet) to give the impression that Karen was murdered for a perhaps-falsified $850 and her bag was stuffed in the 'nearby drain'. (Nearby to the hypothetical mugging for the $850.)

If this was part of a planned falsified set-up - to steer the police in the wrong direction - some 'concealed evidence of a mugging' may be something that was planned also.

Possibly the planner of the murder thought that police would search drains a lot earlier. Along with the river and the riverside parklands.

I can't get out of my mind that a previous one-or-two-time poster said that this was a planned crime, according to sources that may be aware of that kind of detail. But the post was removed.

.

There's a few other possibilities that come to mind, mostly to do with concealing evidence during or after the fact.

Somehow I think if they find Karen's personal effects that she supposedly left home with, ie; her phone, her handbag and wearing shoes (if one or both were not recovered with her remains), they could possibly be found in separate locations.

We know Karen's phone pinged in Gisborne (along with BR's?). I often carry my mobile phone about my person (eg, in one of my pockets or in my hand) while I'm moving about my home. If Karen was doing the same at the time she was killed, her phone could have been easily discarded through a car window or even have slipped out her pocket unnoticed by her alleged murderer somewhere between the location where she was killed and her remains were found.

As for Karen's shoes, if neither, one or both weren't found with her remains, that could be the result of a few scenarios. She was barefoot when she was transported to Mount Macedon, one or both of her shoes was discarded or lost (as for her phone above) enroute either to or from Mount Macedon, including locally. The same for Karen's handbag and associated personal effects.

I wonder if Peerless Court was overlooked at the time for cctv checking, maybe they've done it now ..... reckon there'd be plenty of cameras there but not sure how long vision lasts, no idea [emoji848]

Hi UT! Do you remember if em mentioned where the lady saw Karen that morning? On Oakley or elsewhere in their neighbourhood?

Or police have returned to check again? Or a resident has spotted someone/thing unusual while scrolling through their footage?

My whiskers are twitching again remembering BR being so concerned about discovering whether or not his neighbours had CCTV. Did he ask immediate neighbours only or those in surrounding streets, eg; Peerless?

It's possible but I don't remember the police specifying any pieces of jewellery Karen was said to be wearing in the missing persons appeals or posters, or including any on the mannequin they used to attempt to jog people's memories, when she first disappeared (or subsequently).

Was there some detail or details wrt Karen's jewellery I've missed?
