There seems to be a lot made of whether anyone can independently confirm that they saw Karen on the day.
All of this concern revolves around whether any camera caught or person saw Karen actually leaving the house. What is of note is that i remember the police saying they would like to speak to anyone who had seen Karen leave the house that day, which implied to me that possibly she did not leave the house that day. I also have questioned whether this is just media spin making it sound sinister.
But a neighbour questioned why she would go for a walk with a handbag; that was a quote in a paper in the last day or two, which is an odd thing for a neighbour to say and made me think back to the comment by police that they seemed to not be able to independently confirm that Karen left the house, other than by Borce's word. This seems to frame Borce for murder.
I think Borce is a suspect; though i also believe that the police have no solid evidence on him that he killed Karen. Borce's actions can look suspicious, but without evidence there is no proof of anything. Someone else having done something to her is still firmly in the frame, despite the Herald Sun's best efforts to frame the husband.
Finally, in an entirely different reading, i wonder if the police believe Borce and want so called 'independent' confirmation of Karen’s whereabouts- not to implicate Borce- but to know who else did something to her, as Borce is not guilty. This is an entirely different reading, though one perfectly consistent with police statements, i think. The point here is that the police do not distrust that she left the house, but they want to know what happened to her after she left the house safely, which is when someone did something to her. Wanting CCTV footage or witnesses to this is pivotal. I think, however, that there is a bias against Borce in this regard- that police seeking CCTV footage or neighbours' reports are solely about Borce’s behaviour. I think that is most probably false and that police want footage and witness reports to know what someone else did to her, not Borce.
At the moment I am open to anything: Borce, Anthony Rickard, friends or associates of the aforementioned, and random strangers entirely unrelated to anyone.
