Herald Sun and news.com.au are both owned by Murdoch right, of course the articles are the same .. ?

Yeah but different 'click bait' leading back to the subscriber-only Herald-Sun articles. Kidspot belongs to them too. All reinforcing each other's take on a story. Independent, unbiased journalism is rapidly becomng a thing of the past *sigh*

Have the "courage"...

"Police stepped up their search for the missing mum last week, setting up an information caravan in the hope it would generate some fresh leads.

They also took the unusual step to call on anyone who had information, including family members or people that knew the Ristevski family, to have the "courage" to come forward"

Courage .. That's interesting, what could people be afraid of I wonder .. Connections? Sounds like people who knew them would know a lot more than they're saying, police might even be reaching out to Sarah with that comment. My guess is there was family violence and or control, previously only known to the inner circle.

Using the word Courage is unusual, although it's not an 'Unusual Step' to ask anyone including family to come forward.

BIB: Can you imagine that though. Folks would go ballistic. Why is BR not saying anything? He must be hiding something, he must be guilty? Yep, the husband done it alright, no doubt about it etc etc etc. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't, in my opinion.

I have to agree with this .....

And I just love the play on words ...

In the article linked below it say the HS reported that BR has been encouraged by police not to talk publicly.......

it then changes to BR has said he was told not to talk about the case .......

maybe both are true statements its just how either BR has interpreted and relayed what police have said or the media putting their own interpretation on it.. (spin = $$$)

If the police said to me...Hey look.... its probably best you don't get too caught up in this media frenzy, we'd probably prefer you to not publicly discuss the case ..... let us do our job...

Technically they havent told him he can't. ...... just suggested that he didn't. ..

So the further statement (again attributed to the Herald Sun) says police said they did not stop People from talking to the media again is most likely true...

BUT then the spin is ......Borce Ristevski will not make fresh appeal to find his missing wife ..... sounds so much more intriguing and sinister doesn't it.

Thanks for that - I drive up and down Puckle all the time - must admit I didn't notice it at all.

Completely irrelevant. I lived with my Nana for a while back through the mists of time when I was a kid. She always talked about 'going down Puckle'. Thanks for the memory Em. :-)

It is National Missing Persons Week.

Ch7 TV news just said that police are appealing to anyone who may deliberately have gone missing to please contact someone to let them know they are okay. No need for any other information, just surety that it is the missing person and that they are okay.

There seems to be a lot made of whether anyone can independently confirm that they saw Karen on the day.

All of this concern revolves around whether any camera caught or person saw Karen actually leaving the house. What is of note is that i remember the police saying they would like to speak to anyone who had seen Karen leave the house that day, which implied to me that possibly she did not leave the house that day. I also have questioned whether this is just media spin making it sound sinister.
But a neighbour questioned why she would go for a walk with a handbag; that was a quote in a paper in the last day or two, which is an odd thing for a neighbour to say and made me think back to the comment by police that they seemed to not be able to independently confirm that Karen left the house, other than by Borce's word. This seems to frame Borce for murder.

I think Borce is a suspect; though i also believe that the police have no solid evidence on him that he killed Karen. Borce's actions can look suspicious, but without evidence there is no proof of anything. Someone else having done something to her is still firmly in the frame, despite the Herald Sun's best efforts to frame the husband.

Finally, in an entirely different reading, i wonder if the police believe Borce and want so called 'independent' confirmation of Karen’s whereabouts- not to implicate Borce- but to know who else did something to her, as Borce is not guilty. This is an entirely different reading, though one perfectly consistent with police statements, i think. The point here is that the police do not distrust that she left the house, but they want to know what happened to her after she left the house safely, which is when someone did something to her. Wanting CCTV footage or witnesses to this is pivotal. I think, however, that there is a bias against Borce in this regard- that police seeking CCTV footage or neighbours' reports are solely about Borce’s behaviour. I think that is most probably false and that police want footage and witness reports to know what someone else did to her, not Borce.

At the moment I am open to anything: Borce, Anthony Rickard, friends or associates of the aforementioned, and random strangers entirely unrelated to anyone.

I have a feeling that when the Herald Sun published the article that a 'key person of interest' has put up a 'wall of silence', that is when Borce Ristevski was formally told by police he was a suspect in the disappearance of Karen. Borce then hired a lawyer and the lawyer told him to keep quiet and not be as talkative to police as they might use something against him in a future trial. This hasn't been mentioned, i don't think; though it seems likely. People were mentioning that Borce had clammed up, though i don't think it was mentioned what precipitated that move and the hiring of a lawyer. Being told you're a suspect would do that. And even the police would have told him to get a lawyer. I don't recall that being mentioned in the media.... just spinning.

I think the media said that a 'key person of interest' has 'put up a wall of silence'. If you really want to split hairs, then you could argue it is Sarah. Sarah is not a suspect in the disappearance of her mother- she did not murder her. But Sarah could very well be a key person of interest if she knows about the private lives of her parents- and can shed any light on the claims of Anthony Rickard. Thus, she hired a lawyer and stopped talking to police for anything she says can possibly implicate her father (or herself or her mother) in a crime, which she might not want to do just yet; or, she may not believe anyone has committed a crime and might inadvertantly get someone arrested and charged and then be compelled to testify against them in court, which she might not want to do. It's complicated.

The simplest is to assume Borce lawyered up as the police told him formally he is a suspect. But other options are possible.

Question to the forum,

Concerning Karen's phone, is it possible for the service provider to retrieve recent calls, sms's from that sim?

Surely all data is recorded is it not?

Possible second phone is also to be considered.

.

Whilst no genius about the machinations of CCTV cameras - I do find it odd living in that particular area given the fact that these large and somewhat expensive homes would not be equipped with these. Backyards virtually back onto acres of nothing. I would imagine insurance policies would be that much higher without such equipment installed. When I drove by last Sunday I noticed a personalised number plate in the drive way directly opposite number 23 where 3 men were chatting. I appears that the number plate MAY belong to a local accountant/firm in surrounding areas. Because it was tucked away in the driveway it simply looked like it belonged by a home owner rather than parked along the kerbside. Feel free to PM for the number plate.

Didn't Edward Snowden let us all know that all phone / internet data goes via US servers and is captured by the NSA? Also I seem to remember legislation that required telcos to keep and store communications, but can't remember if that was 6 months worth or longer? It's a warrant anyway, investigators serve the telco with a warrant and can get texts, location data, calls, Internet searches etc. So yes, they can get all that and more.

This Australian Government Attorney Generals website says we retain data for 2 years here in Australia.

How game would you be to take Basil for a walk on the trail ...... to count the number of cameras?

If I had any genuine reason to head that way ..... I'd go with you. ..and bring my Rotti for protection.

Only joking..... I seriously wouldn't be walking the trail alone....not until this is all sorted.
