Just one theory Bo...

just trying to help people see that its not all cloak and dagger that the neighbours didn't see anything...*if* she went for a walk to let off steam.

If she did like Borce said.... she would be out of visual sight within seconds...

Another poster here confirmed..and I would agree at 10.30am....no one is on thee streets just milling about to notice anything..... she could have easily walked out in the shiates to cool off without anyone seeing her....... nothing sinister... just what is possible.

Thanks for all your hard work putting the maps together, Puggs, I appreciate it and they're very helpful.

I agree, Puggs. Karen's disappearance may seem sinister but may not be. I am not married to any hard and fast theory this early in the game. I prefer to keep an open mind, otherwise I might disregard something that's potentially very important.

I truly don't know what has happened..... but love to uncover misconceptions as a way to assist.

Bullscrap about Neighbours not seeing anything, meaning anything

Number 1 means nothing. .....unless there are nosey neighbours fixated on the Ristevski house 24/7 prior to this event.

So the Maribyrnong River search area was closer to Moonee Ponds than Avondale Heights? Is that closer to where it flows into Port Phillip Bay or further away? In other words, if Karen entered the water at Avondale Heights would it be likely her remains and/or personal possessions would be taken by the current to near the search area?

Scientists do this all the time. They try to disprove their hypotheses and, if they can't, they become 'scientific fact' (theory really).

Neighbours may have seen something with their eyes but not their brains. People aren't 100% conscious of what's going on around them most of the time.

Their neighbours were probably mostly at work, or shopping after dropping off kids at school, etc. It's a very similar neighbourhood to where one of my brothers lives.

Never mind I searched Google Maps and can see that Moonee Ponds is downstream from Avondale Heights and the Maribyrnong River joins The Yarra before it flows into The Bay.

There's lots of twists and turns in the river in between Avondale Heights and Moonee Ponds where items could become snagged. It must have been a reasonable tip to Crimestoppers to concentrate the water search at the bridge.

If she did trip and fall then surely her bag and phone and possibly a shoe would have been spotted by now.

I'm casting my 'poll' vote for murder by AR as the most probable explanation at this stage. Motive: sexual obsession. The only thing against it is that one queries his competence. But I suggest that his drug use has increased following and as a result of the event. He may have been quite functional before. I think he intercepted Karen after she left the house; there was no appointment; she got into his car. Borce's impression was that she went out by the garage in the direction of the street not the river and I take that as a fair guide. I find nothing improbable about Borce's account of Karen's exit.

Does the river track have a rail?

I agree, JLZ, that it's more likely Karen met someone and left the area in their vehicle. I can't see Karen going for a 'nature walk' dressed as she was and taking those particular accessories with her. I also agree with Borce's statement being a fair guide. As for AR's competence at that point in time, who knows? His behaviour was certainly erratic shortly after Karen disappeared. However, his face appeared to be covered in lesions in the photographs accompanying The Australian's articles, which point to long term ice use. People can, and do, become violent when they're 'coming down' so it's possible AR 'ambushed' Karen that day, but they can also become quite depressed and lethargic so, again, who knows? I really doubt if Karen would've met him on her own willingly.

I've always thought Karen's dress on the day would have been considered 'smart casual' such as she'd wear to meet someone to go somewhere for coffee. I wonder if she had a male confidant who was not as trustworthy as she thought he was.

Did the police search the area around 'The Boathouse'? It seems more like the sort of place I'd imagine to be Karen's 'cup of tea' as far as going to have coffee and talk.

Yeah, you'd think so.

Oh, I want to see it but not enough to join. I can only see a few photos.

And wouldn't there be sliding and crashing through marks in the vegetation.

Drag marks on the grass or vegetation.

Could Karen swim?
