Extremely similar circumstances, froggy. Have you, or anyone else, made a thread for her Missing Persons' case?

No, if I knew how to I would.

I agree, tiddles. He's the weakest link IMO too, if there's a domestic crime to be uncovered.

Yes if she tripped and fell you'd hope the police would have spotted some changes to vegetation and investegated.

My main purpose of showing the steepness of the terrain was more to point out if she did go for a walk back there..... then it would be very quick for her to become "out of line of sight".

Meaning I can't place any sinister ideas on the Neighbours not seeing her that day.

One of my theories is she has met with foul play on the trail...further on the trail where its close to the river. She may have been
Attacked...simple blow to the head, someone has grabbed her purse and pushed her in the river.... and she has drowned.

Not only are Karen and Natasha missing, but also that other woman whose name escapes me but was been mentioned a couple of times in thread #s 1 and 2 (she went to the same school as the Claremont victims ... just disappeared from her house one day) ... they could indeed all be related - anything is possible.

I still feel that Karen disappeared voluntarily and has done a stellar job in staying hidden. I hope she is safe and well somewhere but that if she is she'll put a call into Crimestoppers to let them know that she's safe and that the police can stop wasting time looking for her.

I agree, Puggs. Karen's disappearance may seem sinister but may not be. I am not married to any hard and fast theory this early in the game. I prefer to keep an open mind, otherwise I might disregard something that's potentially very important.

This is where I am at also.....

Lorrin Whitehead is the lady who went missing from near Geelong. The thing about Lorrin is that she did get her mailed stopped and had no reason to do so that anyone knew of. Unless of course, someone could do this on your behalf. Either way, it seems like an odd measure for someone either committing suicide or running away when you will be missing when you don't show up to work. But maybe in a distressed state, this was just something she thought to do which might help her cause. Lorrin disappeared from outside her home, last seen at a supermarket.

I saw an article this morning from the US about a woman who ran away and lived rough, leaving children, and popped back up after 10 years. Lots of drugs involved. I am thinking that most "new life" disappearances would run more to that sort of story than middle class business owners running off without a trace. The longer she is missing with no activity the less likely this seems. I mean, she could use an ATM somewhere to access some cash and disappear into the ether again, if you've done it once you can do it again.

I've always thought Karen's dress on the day would have been considered 'smart casual' such as she'd wear to meet someone to go somewhere for coffee. I wonder if she had a male confidant who was not as trustworthy as she thought he was.

Ahh now that is interesting, as I've thought if she was having an affair maybe they were hiding her, but she would be particularly vulnerable in her agitated state and no one knowing where she was and maybe causing someone a big problem who was only after some fun. How many people get dumped by their lover when they leave their spouse? Another scenario to add to the list, someone she reached out to once leaving the house.

Certainly haven't got all my shiate together... long day at work grrr

Just for consideration.... July 7th 2011.... Michael Atakelt Body found floating near Raleigh Bridge (Anglers Tavern) 11 days after he Disappeared
29th Nov 2007 Womans Body found near Orford Road ....I couldn't find any other information?
Sept 2nd 2012 8 days after a man decided to try to swim to the other side of the river following a drink...Anglers Tavern...his body is found.
Wednesday 5th Feb, 2014 Rezene Mabratha Engada went missing his body surfaced later that week.
Brendan David Bernad. Murdered over drug debt at the end of January 2015...first body parts surfaced in first week of February, other parts surfaced March 22nd 2015, parts found near Boathouse Restaurant Moonee Ponds later parts found upstream near Anglers Tavern.

sheesh...and that's what I was able to find in a quick 20 minute search...... the Anglers Tavern seems cursed....more likely the depth of the river at that point....aybe like a catchment area??

arrrggg other stuff..... too much....

Fishing forums....where people have been charged for laying nettings in that area of the river ......mesh nets...charged as they can endanger wildlife and catch up and drown ...platypus...etc.....

ahhh spent.....

I remember the guy who drunkenly got in to swim across the river, the low level of concern for his welfare from his "mates" always struck me.

I think you might be on to something about it being a catchment area ... the bridge might make a difference, the bend, and then there are more people around that area as well.

Hi there, could someone send me the link to AR's posts please? I can't find him on Facebook and want to see what everyone's talking about!

No sorry, because it's not allowed - we're not permitted to sleuth social media pages of family members.

RSBM.

Maybe not someone she was necessarily having an affair with; although that's a possibility, but someone she knew intimately enough to disclose her financial difficulties, and/or AR's alleged threat to self-harm, etc. Someone she thought may be able to help her remedy one, or both, stressors but whose intentions she misjudged.

And the thing is his body didn't resurface from the water until 8 days later in the same area he was last sighted......

I'm thinking there is much more debris at the bottom of the River than I originally thought.

I know under that bridge at the Angler people have fished for decades...so may well be plenty of old fishing line caught up on the rocks...

Even that poor guy murdered over a drug debt..... (dismembered) first parts started floating within a week....but other parts didn't surface till the March...two months later

Both of these examples were in summer....... so well above my 3.3 degree standard....

will have to research how much other crap and where along the river has been historically dumped..

the next lowest point in the river that anything could possibly surface would most likely be a km south of the Anglers...in the wetlands opposite the golf course.

Ohhh so sad ... I never knew about the mail being stopped in Lorrin case.

Is there a thread here for her?.... Can someone post me a link if there is....I am super hopeless finding my way around here.

I've been thinking about Karen's work attire and respectfully disagree with whomever it was that said they didn't believe Karen would've worn the clothes that the mannequin is dressed in, to work. My reason is that in a lot of the pictures of Karen online, she is wearing black - be it a dress, shirt or top ... I personally think black is her go-to colour - and the picture below supports my theory. Also, I note that Karen's make-up was minimal in this shot ... I have seen images of her online where she is wearing a full face of make-up, but those appeared to have been taken at a function. Perhaps she liked to maintain a more fresh, make-up free, look for work?

Although the outfit the mannequin is wearing (also pasted below as a reminder) isn't what a lot of people would consider to be dressy, it is smart, and we can't see what's underneath the jacket:

(I'm guessing she probably had a top on that is similar to the first photo above).

There's an elegant boutique at the bottom of my office tower which would be (I'm guessing) comparable to Karen's, and the women who work there seem to display varying levels of dress ... a couple of the older ladies are dressed to the nines, fully made up and with very clunky jewellery, but then there are a couple of younger ladies in their (I'm guessing) 40s who look smart but don't overdo it so much as the older ladies do. So yes, I could see that something similar could happen in Karen's store (what with someone having described a very dressy older lady).

Also, as far as the Coach handbag and wallet are concerned ... there was a post on one of the early news articles on FB, from one of Karen's (claimed to be, anyway) friends that said something along the lines of she remembered the fun they had on their BGK trips. BKG is a common abbreviation for Bangkok, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if Karen purchased her bag and wallet from there (as do a lot of women who want to dress and accessorise a certain way but perhaps can't afford to [I'm not saying this was the case with Karen but it is possible]). She could've also used those Bangkok trips to buy label-less garments to which she'd then affix her own label, as a lot of fashion stores do (again, I don't know if that was what Karen did; I'm merely speculating).
