What I do find interesting is BR' s annoyance at The Australian with regards to the reporting of the financial issues but he is seemingly unconcerned about the reporting of AR's claims.....

Priorities, eh? Very telling ... very telling indeed.

A forest like that would be not only a good place to dispose of a body but also to commit suicide

But how would Karen have gotten there? Oh I know, she hired an Uber Driver.

I don't know about that Herald Sun article disclaiming the search as being for Karen. I wish they had named a police source. It sounds as if police just would not confirm that the search was for Karen, not that they denied it.

This Age article names a police source when speaking about the search that may/may not have been for Karen.

Victoria Police would not confirm the report or specify which areas had been searched.
"The missing persons squad has searched a number of areas," Sergeant Anthoula Moutis said.
"The investigation is still ongoing."

An old tactic. Wait and watch for any movement so to speak.

There should be events like this even if it is a waste of time ... I do think if he has murdered her without leaving much forensic evidence the chances of him dropping her behind the house in the valley are slim to none for a few reasons. Firstly, the car access is poor to a lot of it, the easily accessed parts would have been her found already, and you are probably running a great risk being seen even late at night because it is a well populated area. Jill Meagher was driven up the calder fwy to Diggers Rest (!!), the little Indian boy who was killed by the housemate with the door (!?) was driven and dumped in the grassland around the airport in Oaklands Junction from Lalor, GBC went from Brookfield to the Kholo Creek bridge- look up those distances, they are all about the 20-30 minutes and km distance ... If Borce has done this and disposed of her, she will be found half an hour up the Calder hwy somewhere IMO - not on the highway per se, but concealed on a back road or in crown land. It is places they are somewhat familiar with but feels far enough away, and it can be done in under 2 hours, an easy time frame to explain away.

OZ I did a map, based on areas .... spots that I feel fit the criteria that your mentioning. The map is on the last or second last page of thread one.... I don't know how to bring it over to this thread...but if I figure it out Ill post it.

So, did this search have nothing to do with Karen and someone else just jumped on the link between a search in that area and the Ristevski family having holidayed in that area?
Confused.

POLICE have ruled out a link between the Barmah National Park in Victoria’s north and missing Melbourne mum Karen Ristevski.
Police were aware Borce Ristevski and his wife had visited the area but do not believe the location will yield any clues which will help them solve the case.

Would you please be able to cut and paste the whole story here? The article is behind a paywall and I can't even seem to access it via Google.

I have a theory about this. I'll have to do some research though before I put it out there. And it would require lots of forethought and cunning by BR.

Looking at your map- the gates to Organ Pipes park close by nightfall ... I think the terrain there would be difficult. But plenty of open space around it. Similarly, no access to Brimbank after dark and I'd assume similar issues to being seen near where they live. That said I have been told bodies have been found in Woodlands Historic Park though, and I assume the same issue with the closed gates, so obviously this isn't an insurmountable problem. Arundale and Annandale, I would consider them reasonably well trafficked. Open land, but plenty of through traffic, not isolated. That said so is Oaklands Junction ... I am being too picky.

I'm thinking Lerderderg could be a contender though I'll be frank, I have lived here all my life and no one has ever mentioned going there, without looking at the map I would draw a blank about the place personally ... maybe because people drive up to Macedon instead?

Can someone confirm whether the search at Barmah National Park was conducted recently? It sounds like the police have conducted a search but I'm confused as to whether this was recently or earlier in the investigation?

If you can't open paywall article, google them and click "open in incognito" ... while you are there, print to PDF, and you'll have a copy to refer to without mucking around.

It looks like SouthAussie may be offline but to answer your question, if an article is behind a paywall it is against Websleuth's rules to copy and paste it here, The article can be paraphrased with the link included in your post. It's also against the rules to post any more than 10% of an article due to copyright restrictions.

(BBM) - Maybe the alleged sighting of her boarding a bus was kosher, and she used it to travel out that way? (Slim chance, but always a possibility).

This is from the Herald Sun. I have a subscription. The rest of the story is just a rehash

ETA Vic poilce has also discounted the BIL's theory. Funny that!
