do you think the police feel that any additional information, or useful observations may be gathered at the funeral

I think they either have what they need or they don't have enough, now that's hedging your bets, but the Police have a responsibility to make an arrest as soon as they have enough evidence to sustain a charge. Seeing as the funeral has now been arranged would suggest that they have obtained enough evidence from the body to enable them to release it to the family for burial. Did that evidence offer enough, I think we will find out more in the next couple of days. IMO

I think if they have enough to arrest someone specifically if it's a family member then I believe they will do it before the funeral. I dont know if right and wrong play into it but surely if they have enough it would be wrong to not go ahead and make the arrest prior rather than allowing someone's murderer to attend their funeral...

I agree, inkpink, if they have enough evidence to sustain a charge they will arrest the person regardless of a funeral or not. Could be an exciting weekend, fingers crossed.

BBM
The coroner has most likely retained all the samples and photos required to prove any current results of testing, and for any future analysis, should it be required.

So they can now release Karen's physical remains and let her finally be laid to rest with dignity and grace. :rose:

Thanks for that, Southaussie! I wasn't sure what it all meant. You're most likely right!

I totally agree, as with bbm's post, it would certainly lessen the "dignity and grace"

On the one hand, it would be horrible for Karen's murderer to be at her funeral.
On the other hand, if it is a family member (Borce), it may cause more trauma on the funeral day for his support to not be there for another family member .... who probably would not want to believe he is guilty.

And it wouldn't be the first time a murderer has been to the victim's funeral. Far from it.

Terrible to 'lose' both your parents within one day (or so). Because even though Karen has been gone for a while now, the funeral will bring up such huge feelings of loss and finality.

:floorlaugh: Throw some my way please!! :floorlaugh:

Thanks for the laugh, I need it right now...the thought of AR attending Karen's funeral brings the worst out in me--it's just wrong, period!!!!!

Valium milkshakes are my favourite. Chocolate is nice.

Interesting might not be the word to describe the dispicable lot that may sit in the first pew and grieve such a good woman.

What a rotten lot they all seem to be.

I'm banking on an arrest a week after Karen's funeral. One or several might be asked to attend the local copshop and Constable Care will look after them for the next 40 years.

Yes I like the chocolate flavoured Valium milkshakes. :)

Exactly what I'm thinking SouthAussie. I know the media will be there and i admit I'll be reading any articles etc, but it is still sad for any innocent people all the same (Well the whole thing is sad)

A good point. I wonder if the police do make a judgement call though depending on circumstances or do they do what they do when they need to do it.....?

Monday funeral. Kevlar vests optional.

It is a lot to expect that people will behave themselves.. it's been a very long spring and summer, and lots of rage building up...

I saw CR and VR attending the Avondale house so they're 'on side' with Ol' Borce and SR.
I really don't like to describe it as interesting but any outburst could be gold to the police. Could LE use the built up rage to confirm an arrest Troopy or would that ploy be in acceptable.

Double post....

Police must be present for security reasons, you have mentally ill ice addicted stepson who openly blames BR for murder of KR.
AR could rock up high on ice with a gun

I was actually wondering if the police would be allowed to be at the funeral - as it is deemed to be private, which means only invited guests are allowed. And with Borce and Sarah refusing to cooperate with police, and wary of any tracking/recording/listening devices that may have been employed on phones, cars, etc - they may have been 'advised' to disallow police attendance.

Which would be a real shame for the police who have been working hard on this case and would like to show their respect to Karen at her funeral.

I don't think that even the police can gatecrash a private funeral, if they are not invited. Unless, of course, they planned to arrest someone there, which I doubt they would do as they generally show great respect at this kind of affair.

Though, if Karen's birth family are paying for the funeral, they would of course invite the relevant detectives and police officers, I would think. Seems to be no animosity among that side of the family and the police.

South Aus you are awarded the gold cup for your sleuthing during this. Thank you.

I was thinking the same about treating the occasion with respect and so it will be by the police BUT it is Karen's funeral and I'm sure the real ones who cherished Karen would say bring Justice on for Karen. Whatever it takes and I'm sure Karen would agree, I know I would.

Good to see you there Makara. I was worried.
