Sorry Marly, I didn't even think, I was just mucking around. I shall behave now :)

I was just thinking about what a difficult and awful time this must be for James Coleman's family and girlfriend.

They are grieving the loss of their loved one but must also be filled with unanswered questions - as well as also feeling deep grief for the loss of Kyle, as he was obviously extremely close to them all.

I really feel for them. Sending them huge love :loveyou:

Well that is a VERY interesting development, thank you sleepinoz for the update there.

Kyle and his belongings did not return to Mt Isa from the campsite... so what does this imply, with what was said about that previously...

Also I wonder what evidence suggests he remained in Mt Isa against his will (if that is a correct reading of what was said there..)?

It sounds like things are moving along steadily with this investigation, though.

It does sound like they are getting somewhere with the investigation, and hopefully we will hear more soon.

Hopefully they can find Kyle soon and get some answers for his family.

Missing Mount Isa teenager: UPDATE
July 18, 2014, 5:53 p.m.

THE Facebook site dedicated to continuing the search for missing Mount Isa teenager Kyle Coleman has revealed new light into the investigation.

A post earlier this afternoon on the ‘Please help find Kyle Coleman’ page offered thanks to family and friends of Kyle as the search continued, but also reported the 17-year-old did not return to Mount Isa from a camping trip.

Kyle was last seen on the morning of February 22 in Mount Isa and remains a missing person.

It was never definitively confirmed whether Kyle made it back from a camping trip with his mate near Camooweal prior to his disappearance. But a post on the Facebook site that helps keep the search alive, suggests he did not return to Mount Isa from the camping trip.

I notice that the MSM article also says ...

“We can however let you all know that in light of some evidence uncovered during the investigation it has become clear that our boy and his belongings did not return to Mount Isa from where he and his “mate” were camping,” the Facebook post stated. “We can also say that this was not a choice Kyle made but one that was made for him.”

“As more information is released we will keep you all updated, please be patient with us as we need to make sure everything is done in the right way. We continue to search the area for Kyle.”

http://www.northweststar.com.au/story/2435422/kyles-case-to-coroner/?cs=191

POLICE have started compiling a brief of evidence found in the search for missing Mount Isa teenager Kyle Coleman for the Queensland coroner.

Kyle was reported missing on Saturday, February 22, after he did not return home from a camping trip with his 21-year-old friend James Coleman (not related).

Police initially believed the teen lost his way while walking home from James’s Skewes Street home in the early hours of Saturday morning, but after a strange twist of events emergency service moved their search efforts to Undilla Station, 100 kilometres north-east of Camooweal, where Kyle and James were last seen camping.

.......

Mount Isa Police Acting Inspector Guy Harvey said since Kyle’s disappearance, evidence linking Kyle back to an area at Undilla Station had been found by police and Coleman family search crews.

“We found bits and pieces of evidence from these different searches and we can identify things that would have come from the two persons involved,’’ he said.

So they were indeed at Undilla Station........

I am so glad for Kyle's family that there is some forward movement here. I was worried nothing at all might be discovered due to the vast size of the land search........I'm sure it's better for them to have some knowledge of whatever occurred, rather than Kyle just completely disappearing.

But I'm also very sad for them, obviously.

And Sleep - thank you for being so 'on' this case. Much appreciated!!

this searching and not knowing could have gone on for much longer (as we have seen in similar cases). It is so good (for lack of a better word, sorry) that this family will get some answers. Once again, you Aussies really impress me with your care and concern. So sorry for this young one and all those who knew and love him.

Do inquests usually happen so quickly in an Australian missing persons case? I think I have only seen them happen years after the person goes missing. Does this mean they have a lot of evidence that Kyle is deceased?

Good questions. I assume it does suggest that there is fairly solid evidence that Kyle is deceased, otherwise it would simply remain a missing persons case.

I found this on the Qld Courts website - but it doesn't specify any actual time frames:

When is an inquest held?

Very few coronial investigations proceed to inquest. An inquest must be held if:

the death is a death in custody
the death occurred while the person was in care and there are issues about the care being provided
the death occurred as a result of police operations unless the coroner considers the circumstances do not require an inquest
the Attorney-General directs that an inquest be held
the state coroner orders an inquest to be held
the District Court upholds an appeal against a coroner’s decision not to hold an inquest.
In other cases, a coroner may decide to hold an inquest if it is in the public interest to do so. In deciding this, the coroner may consider whether there is significant doubt about the cause and circumstances of death or whether holding an inquest may help to prevent future deaths or uncover systemic issues which affect public health and safety.

The article says Kyle was left alone at Undilla Station...NOT by his own choice...
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm....Wonder WHAT would make anyone leave a pal in the open desert. Alone. More questions than answers....
