Trial stopped as Simon Gittany ambushed by Today Tonight crew

November 8, 2013

Simon Gittany's murder trial was stopped after a Today Tonight crew ambushed him outside court in what has been described as “an interference with the administration of justice”.

The crew from the Channel Seven show allegedly approached Mr Gittany and his girlfriend on Friday morning with a microphone and asked him why is was so “controlling” and “jealous”.

Not long afterwards a trailer went to air stating “Explosive new evidence revealed in the Simon Gittany case, who is accused of throwing his fiancee off their 15th floor balcony.

The trial resumed about 10.30am but the court was waiting for those involved with the program to return

Just a guess on the "explosive new evidence"....I wonder if it concerns his history??

I posted a quote yesterday referring to the hidden hard drive but at the time I didn't realise that it was "fresh evidence"?. Does this mean that the prosecution has only just found about about the hidden hard drive and if so I wonder how they came to find out about it?.

Today Crown prosecutor Mark Tedeschi QC jumped on fresh evidence that the 40-year-old asked his brother to remove a hidden computer hard disk from the apartment.

He made the request while he was in custody between August 4, 2011 and January 20, 2012.

At the risk of getting rotten tomatoes thrown at me for posting 3 pics of them (I tried to make them small - larger pics at link below pics) ... does RL look really unhappy today or what?

I know I mentioned it before, but she just looks like a different person now. Not looking at the cameras, not smiling, not cuddling up to SG .... I want to say she almost looks shocked. And she went to court by herself yesterday, before SG was snapped looking agitated while 'talking' with her later.

Maybe it was nerves that she may have been called to the stand, or maybe she was made to kneel and submit to 'the one' last night?

I dunno ... it's weird. :waitasec:

Call me cynical, but I think the media loves to publish photos that fuel speculation. Photos of the happy couple one day, trouble in paradise the next. I have no idea if it's an accurate representation of their dynamic or if the media is being a little creative with their narrative.

I've been called cynical all my life, so I don't even know if believe myself. Lol. But you're right, it's very interesting and I hope it's true that SG is getting really rattled.

RL was probably feeling a little tense with the Today Tonight journo's all over SG and the fact that they weren't the least bit interested in her. :twocents:

Maybe she is beginning to realise that associating herself with an abuser of women, a man who comes across as particularly unlikable and arrogant, and possible murderer is not the best career move. Even if SG is found not guilty, he will be guilty in the public's eye, and she is tainted via association imo.

"But he went to see what had happened and told the court a group of people were trying to resuscitate what appeared to be a body.

He told the court he then saw a man, who he believed to be the same person he'd seen on the balcony, exit the building.

The man observed what was going on from a distance, before moving to speak to the group trying to assist the person on the ground, Mr Rathmell said.

Mr Rathmell continued on his way to work where he later called police to report what he'd seen."

Tighter bail for accused balcony killer

NOVEMBER 08, 2013

ACCUSED murderer Simon Gittany has been slapped with tougher bail conditions as his trial over the balcony death of his fiancee goes into its fourth week.

Justice Lucy McCallum didn't revoke bail but enforced extra conditions.

Gittany must travel directly from the court back home, and will be only permitted to leave the premises to go to his counsel's chambers on Sunday afternoon.

He must take twice-daily phone calls from police and inform them of the precise hours he plans to meet his defence team.

After the meeting, he must return directly home and only leave to return to court on Monday.

Balcony death accused Simon Gittany breaks down in court

November 8, 2013
Simon Gittany put his hands over his mouth, tilted his head back and cried.

He then leaned forward, wiped tears away from his cheeks and took a deep breath.

It was the first time his murder trial had seen such an outburst of emotion in the past three weeks.

Ok.....so he's at the family home rocking back and forth, crying over how much it hurts, but manages to pull himself together enough to organise the removal of the hard drive from his ceiling? Right, of course....:liar:

I couldn't believe what I was reading when I saw the headline but sure enough, there it was, in black and white.

p.s. I love that smiley. Most appropriate in this case!.

Mr Gittany asked his brother to remove an external hard drive from the ceiling of a Sydney unit.

He did this after he was arrested on August 4, 2011 and remanded in custody.

The court heard there was a possibility Ms Harnum's final moments were recorded on the hard drive.

Mr Gittany said he did not know where the hard drive was on Thursday but on Friday, IT consultant Craig McCoy appeared in court with the hard drive in hand.
