Read more: Simon Gittany guilty of high-rise murder

NOVEMBER 27, 2013

"Justice McCallum found Gittany was in a state of “uncontrollable rage” on the morning of Ms Harnum's death after he discovered she was leaving him.

“He maintained that rage and in that state, carried her to the balcony and unloaded her over the edge,” Justice McCallum said."

Just watched Ch 10 news and apparently Mumma Gittany wasn't taken away in the ambulance! The family thought she may have needed an ambulance and after it arrived she declined the ride!

Channel 10 news said tonight that if it wasn't for Joshua Rathwell coming forward and the ripped up note in Lisa's pocket that led them to the surveillance cameras and footage the trial may not have gone the way it did. These items made the police 'rethink' their line of thoughts. Otherwise it pointed to a suicide.

WOW! That's so huge IMO he could have just walked away into the sunset.

I'd also like to say a big thank you to everyone today. Fuskier and Sleep, you're both fantastic and your time and dedication is very much appreciated.

:yourock:

Justice Lucy McCallum, Mark Tedeschi, the investigating officers and Josh Rathmell all have my full admiration and gratitude in obtaining justice for Lisa Cecilia Harnum. RIP beautiful girl. :rose:

My heart breaks for Joan Harnum. She has lost her beautiful daughter to pure evil but the sheer magnitude of this case will ensure that Lisa will never be forgotten. I can only hope that women of all ages will become more aware of the early warning signs of domestic violence and get the hell out ASAP.

An "unfortunate" coincidence

There was also a surprise passer-by outside the Darlinghurst Court Complex this morning.

7News reporter Jodie Speers is covering the story, and earlier tweeted that it was 'very strange to see Gordon Wood walk past.'

'It was in this same courtroom years ago when Wood was convicted of throwing his girlfriend off The Gap - he was later cleared on appeal.'

Wood's trial was led by Mark Tedeschi QC, the same prosecutor as Simon Gittany.

Last year Mr Wood was acquitted of murdering Caroline Byrne, whose body was discovered at the bottom of Sydney's infamous Gap in 1995.

The former chauffeur to stockbroker Rene Rivkin was jailed for at least 13 years after he was found guilty in 2008 of killing the model by "spear throwing" her off the cliff.

But the Court of Criminal Appeal found the guilty verdict was not supported by the evidence, with the judges saying they were not satisfied that suicide could be excluded as Ms Byrne's cause of death.

Mr Wood was released from jail in February last year after spending three years behind bars.

Today Wood told Fairfax's Lisa Davies he was on his way to the dentist, and said it was an "unfortunate" coincidence.

BBM: Yeah, right! Pull the other one!!

Simon Gittany guilty of killing Lisa Harnum

JUDGMENT DAY - WHAT WE HEARD TODAY:

- In the judge-only trial, Justice McCallum judgment lasted over four hours

- Distorted versions of the truth given by Gittany, judge says

- Gittany was monitoring his fiancee before her death

- Gittany's "scrutiny was intrusive and overbearing"

- Gittany is described by judge as "controlling, abusive, out of control"

- Judge says witnesses reliable, one said he saw Lisa being thrown

- Judge inspected apartment and conducted "careful analysis"

- No fingerprints of Lisa's on balcony, accused account "implausible"

- Judge says it is "plausible" Lisa was unconscious as she fell

She is satisfied #Gittany had "lost control" that morning.

Just wondering if the young guy 'assisting' RL is her brother (the IT guy) or is he her REAL boyfriend.

Screencaps from the video at the link below. If you can stomach watching the two videos of RL and the young guy constantly pawing her, you'll get to witness some really bad acting. Hand shaking as she moves the cigarette to her mouth, but doesn't quite get there. Notice how she stood with her face directly into the sun. Now that's gonna make your eyes water isn't it? One way to get the tears flowing!

Sorry, I see it has in fact been posted

I'm not sure if anyone has already posted this link to the judgment

There is no way the fellow who is supporting RL, alongside her father, would be her "real boyfriend". I think attacks on RL detract from the real issue; the fact that Gittany has been convicted of murdering Lisa Cecilia Harnum in cold blood, or hot rage.
