I wonder how long it will take for Chris Dawson to apply for bail variation. It's a 45 klm round trip daily from Maroochydore to Coolum. There is a Police station in Coolum.
He won't be out for a few days yet, all the paperwork for mortgage, loans et al will have to go through legal avenues first and at this time of year businesses are winding down and processing $1.5 million will take time. He might just make it out for Xmas.

One of Mr Dawson's former students, Stacey Colgan, sat in the public gallery of the courtroom to support him.
Outside court Ms Colgan told the ABC she did not wish to comment because it was a matter for Mr Dawson's family.
Earlier in the day she posted a message on Facebook to the St Ursula's and St Brendan's school community saying she would be coming to court to show her support for "Dawso and his family".

"I know he would appreciate your support also if you're in the area, or I could pass on your messages to his brother," the post said.
"Mr Dawson was an amazing teacher and that's what I know for sure."

Ms Erwin said “Dawso”, as he was known to pupils, paid a lot of attention to impressionable young girls at St Ursula’s. “He wanted to be our friend, not our teacher, and he made that clear,” she said.

“In Year 8, he was seeking me out. He was the cool guy, the fun guy. He wanted to build rapport. He was literally grooming the entire class, that’s how I saw it.”

The outburst in response to her question about domestic violence occurred in 2000, when she was in a Year 10 personal development class, she said.

So, I was driving today and the radio news came on. They said that Chris Dawson is still languishing in Silverwater Prison, despite being granted bail yesterday.

According to them, both he and Peter are remortgaging their houses, and until that is done he will remain in prison.

i dont have a specific story of him referencing such but he does mention it often in other cases ive seen his work.

Well, I don't think that Peter's contribution can be a caveat. He is not up on criminal charges so the court would have no jursidiction to do that, I don't think.

Perhaps there is a question about the value of Chris' home. He would at least need to get it officially valuated for the court to ensure a caveat would cover the $750,000 he is putting towards his bail.

Excellent point about what might legally become the kid's inheritance, because if Chris Dawson did do a runner it would be seized.
