Apparently, Lyn did have a friend who kept on nagging at her police friend about it (I think it might have been Sue Strath). When her police friend became of high enough rank later, he pulled strings to reopen the case.
I will have to look for the links a bit later. I was just reading about this the other day.

''When her police friend became of high enough rank later, he pulled strings to reopen the case''

That in itself is a very interesting comment!

Here is a little bit about what Sue Strath did for Lyn. But there is more that I was reading the other day. How she used to badger her police friend (Paul Hulme) about it, even at parties.

1998: Senior police officer Paul Hulme assigns Lyn Dawson’s file to Detective Sergeant Damian Loone for reinvestigation. Paul had been urged to look into the case by his wife’s friend Sue Strath, Lyn’s friend who had contacted the Ombudsman about the case in 1985. Detective Loone takes over the case but finds that Lyn’s case file is almost empty; all previous documents appear to have been lost.

I thought everything Govt. was closed Christmas eve.
Australian Government might have their ‘picnic day’ today (I don’t think we used to get ‘Bank Holiday’ in NSW so would get an extra day off at Christmas instead). Service NSW offices were open today.

Yes you are right. From memory, Sue made the comment, that she kept nagging her friend whose husband was in the force and he would have made some comment like "I'll show Sue" and put his best detective Damian Loone on the case.

'Lyn’s case file is almost empty; all previous documents appear to have been lost'.
Sounds like someone got season front row seats to the footy.
Wow oh wow.

Here it is, tgy ......

SUE STRATH: I'd like to think if I went missing, someone would come looking for me. So I just kept nagging my police friend over the years as a social thing. I'd say, "What will you do about my friend Lyn? You know, and he just kept saying, "I can't. I'm in the wrong area."

But then he got transferred. And he rang me up and said, Sue, I'm going to do something about Lynette Dawson. I've got my best detective, Damian Loone, and I'm going to put him on the case to see if there's anything in it at all. I nagged for 15 years when finally the nagging paid off.

SUE STRATH: Some people think that Joanne has instigated this whole business because of the marriage break-up, but I don't know Joanne, and I don't know what allegations she has against Chris, only what I heard in court. But I've always been pushing for something to be done. I've always pushed for the police to look into the disappearance of Lyn.

The children should know their mother lived for them and loved them dearly and would never, ever have left them. And that was the main impetus of me pushing so hard - for the children.

Dang! Lost the sweep by only an hour or so.
You were pretty close. I was going for any day in March. I had a faint hope that the boys would turn out not to legally own the property they thought they did and it would take some proceedings to sort it out.

Close but no cigar, JLZ. March, however, would have been most satisfying.

Chris Dawson has been released on bail from a Sydney prison almost three weeks after he was arrested over the alleged murder of his wife Lyn. He smiled in the car on the way out.
