Behind a paywall, I think. I can only see the headline.

So did Paul and Marilyn's Teenage babysitter give evidence yesterday? From what I have read this morning from various sources it seems she and JC were driving with CD and PD . During this drive CD according to her said "the **** has to go". ? During this drive or a similar drive with the twins, she said CD got out and gave some guy and envelope ?money in a shop doorway. On returning to the car according to her, he is to have said " That problem is sorted" Am I reading fake news or has anyone else read this????? Why would CD and PD be driving around with their teenage babysitters????????

I'm sure that's intended as a rhetorical question.

The hard thing to understand (using 2022 logic at least) is how they had the nerve to risk being seen doing that. Two male teachers driving underage female students around - OMG!

Then again, we have heard teachers flagrantly drank with underage students at the local pub. I wonder if Chris Dawson had JC sit on his lap at the pub? Nothing would surprise me at this stage.

A former neighbour of Chris Dawson has told a Sydney court they saw Lynette Dawson working at a hospital more than two years after she vanished.

The more I read of that, the more I shook my head. What a waste of the court's time.

Rockcastle private hospital - where the guy without his glasses on saw for about 5 seconds someone who looked like Lyn Dawson - is now known as South Pacific private hospital. It is located at Northern Beaches.

So Lyn ran away from Northern Beaches...to Northern Beaches...and worked as a nurse in a hospital without using her qualifications, undetected by family, friends and the police.

Checked and it is only 18 klms from Gilwinga Drive, where the Dawsons lived to South Pacific Private Hospital.

Oh please!

Finally got around to attend court this afternoon.

Only got to hear two witnesses before court adjourned at 3.30. Crown estimated they would finish their case by Wednesday the week after.

I am sure the media will do a good job reporting on the proceedings.. I will just say that the attitudes of the late 70s and early 80s were quite shocking IMO. People didn't seem to care if someone's wife showed up with a black eye, or their good friend openly disclosed about sleeping with an underage student. They would continue to mingle socially, no problem.

oh thats great Via Marple.
Did you feel the vibe of the prosecution or defence stronger?

That's what the media don't give us.
TIA :)

I would love to be in the courtroom to feel what the atmosphere is like. It's so hard to judge on the snippets of media releases.

I don't like to judge someone who believes they saw Lyn. I don't believe it was Lyn they saw, but to have the courage to take the stand in a high profile case takes a lot of doing IMO.

I know in at least one long term missing persons case where the family believed they saw their son on video footage interstate after it was reported. The body was found 5 years later under the house.

IMO...
For a defence's strategy to have PD and MD take the stand is showing weakness and desperation. Major cracks are opening up now in the case for team Dawson...

I agree here, Bats. These other 'witnesses'.. the bloke in the hospital, his wife, their testimony was a bit feeble way back , and even more so now, for the same reason , neither of them spoke to Lynn. They were, perhaps unconsciously, rejecting the reality that it was Lynn, that it was a look alike, but not quite.

Same with the very elderly lady who spoke about seeing Lynn.... oh. on a bus?. She was very old back then, but she also did not speak with Lynn, or acknowledge that her assumption was correct. These are things the judge will give weight to.

And besides this, it is already been adjudicated that she is missing , presumed dead, and dead by murder.

PD and MD have a strong motivation to blatantly lie to the court, which I , personally, believe they have, by inference if by nothing else. They are both trying, and trying too hard and trying it on together to paint Lynn into someone her own family would not recognise. This will have weight in the summing up, too. It is absurd to paint Paul as never hearing Chris moan about Lynn. They shared everything, everyone says so. Their own mother said so.

That bit about Lynn saying she cares more for the kids in hospital, ,nonsense. and nonsense about Dawson being hands on dad, he didn't last a day without dragging Joanne back from her holiday to buckle down and 'take care of the kids'... he probably couldn't find their shoes.

Anyone would think JC was on trial.

How a 16 year old who is asked to parent a 4 and a 2 year old copes is going to be difficult. Most mothers have 9 months to prepare for their first child/ren.

Added the following:
From your article

She gained 2 kids she didn't want to look after. So does Paul now think that Lyn was murdered. I am getting confused didn't Lyn just leave? So JC murdered Lyn remotely from her caravan park with friends or she murdered her after the central coast where she was seen driving a car (without a licence), shopping back in Sydney after she was seen by her former brother in law. Lets not forget no one ever spoke to her. JC didn't have anything to gain after Lyn "left".

Yes, JC may even have had a loving "mother" figure in Lynette if the relationship that CD had established with JC was paternal instead of sexual.

Indeed. There are countless numbers of hands-on dads who are raising little children as single parents, who don't have live-in babysitters.

I don't think I can tell between that sort of vibes, since I had never attended a trial before today:)

But it is possible that defence was a bit more nervous, because they had jumped to objection more than once on thin grounds. And testing the judge's patience IMO

The eldest Dawson was also getting in and out of the room a number of times in just an hour and a half. I don't know why he needed to go out so often. CD meanwhile was looking passive when I looked at him.

Just released:
Episode 5 - The Teachers Trial podcast - Intercepted

Briefly (this podcast runs for 1hr 23min)
It starts with Hedley speaking to LD's first born daughter - Shannell Dawson (SD) (as per the old Teachers Pet podcasts)
SD cannot remember her mother LD.
And, how JC became her harsh step "mother" and being locked in the laundry because she didnt eat her dinner.
And, how it was not a normal childhood. How she was a little afraid of JC - and, how JC had slapped her across the face and she and her sister would be called "idiots" and "useless"

It runs through the witnesses this week from 07 June - to today 10 June 2022
The full 9min phone "intercept" call between Paul Dawson(PD) & CD is played
also;
PD's babysitter stated "CD should tell the truth" and someone could help him to tell the truth - everyone would have a better life
PD's babysitter admitted she was infatuated with PD and said "she stopped seeing PD" after he told her "that something terrible had happened and he needed to get out of NSW and go to Qld" !
Lynelle Dawson (former wife of older brother Peter Dawson) was on the witness stand in person today and how her own mother left her when she was a child.......and started a new life in NZ
KF a student at the school - also saw LD with a black eye outside the school in a car - and how she also witnessed another PE teacher banging on the door/trying to get into her shared office at school... and it was locked and CD and JC emerged from the shared office.
2 ex-neighbours also stated they thought they had seen LD working at a hospital - and a few other late witnesses
