Re CD physically abusing Lynette before they were even married - she may have later asked herself, as Suzanne Morphew did, "What was my younger self thinking?!"
I hope she did from time to time.
Not confident about though as it appears Lynette was besotted with chris.....no matter how badly he treated her....she took it....and didn't want to face him as the monster he was.

In her eyes they had made it.
A beautiful home beautiful children beautiful careers.
Just not so beautiful marriage......
3 out of 4 ain't bad.

She had weathered the storm many times before and they were still holding float.
IMO Lynette accepted treading water and tried to make it look like freestyle.

Lynette wasn't going anywhere......and he knew it.

Yes. I would assume it is Paul and Marilyn at the back. I had to check because I saw that picture a few days ago as a Christmas photo but when you see it as full size it looks a bit like a school and I thought it might be the child care centre.
yeah the pictures on the wall look like kindy displays.

The childcare centre makes sense.

The woman sitting there smoking....lol.....its almost a jail sentence for such a crime now days.:D

The Australian's update this morning :

'The trial of Chris Dawson for the murder of his wife Lynette will resume on Friday with evidence from the former lead detective Damian Loone. Mr Loone joined the NSW Police Force in April 1986, more than four years after Lyn vanished. In 1998 he was assigned the investigation of Lyn's disappearance.'

Paul Wilkinson must be sitting it out in Goulbourn Correctional Centre, watching how Dawson is going with this problem. Wilkinson had a similar problem back in 2005, and he had every reason to think he'd got away with it. No one saw him murder Kylie Maree LABOUCHARDIERE, no one has ever found her body, but there he sits, convicted of her murder, and sentenced to 30 years before being even considered for parole.

It seems reasonable to me that the Dawson brothers would have been keeping a very careful eye on what happens to blokes who murder their wives, in NSW over all these years. I mean, just in case , someone might get niggly, some one might decide to get stroppy about Lynn's 'disappearance' and take matters further. It was always on the cards that this would happen. Always the possibility that someone, some nosy interfering journalist, perhaps , would suddenly jack up and turn stuff inside out, all the eggs in the basket cracked and leaking.

Some get away with it and no doubt, Dawson sees himself as one of those... Some don't though, and they have years inside the dreary walls of Goulburn to cogitate about it.

Chris Dawson had a long time to get complacent and probably couldn't believe his rotten luck when a 'nosy interfering journalist' by the name of Hedley Thomas got on his case.

Would love to be a fly on the wall at the trial if Hedley testifies and Dawson locks eyes on him.

Giving evidence at Christopher Michael Dawson’s murder trial on Friday, former detective Damian Loone said the police had conducted proof of life checks through bank accounts, Medicare, social security and the Australian Taxation Office in 1999 and again in 2001.

“What was your belief as to whether or not there were any government records in existence pointing to Lynette Dawson nee Simms being alive?” asked crown prosecutor Craig Everson SC.

“There were no government records,” Mr Loone replied.

Maybe the ongoing abuse of Lyn was in part a definite strategy to make her leave. I saw something very similar between a married couple that I knew many years ago. (and the plan succeeded).

IMO that is very significant.

Yep, close enough to 20 years missing at that stage and nothing from any of the proof of life checks tells us something loud and clear. Not to mention another 20 years after that and there is still no sign whatsoever of Lyn.

Damien Loone admitted that he had approached the matter from the start as a homicide rather than a missing person and said JC’s answers to questions seemed truthful.

April 2013 , Mr Loone obtained the services of a hypnotherapist Dr Gary Banks and a cognitive interview was conducted with Lyn and Chris Dawson's eldest daughter. Mr Loone said no lines of inquiry were pursued from this.
I just thought it was interesting .

Mr Loone said he investigated those claimed sightings and they were found to be not credible.

Under cross examination from Ms David, he defended the decision not to put evidence of any claimed sighting before either of the two coroners’ inquests in 2001 and 2003.

“Those alleged sightings were investigated and found to be false,” Mr Loone said.

Mr Loone added that an officer assisting the investigation – former detective sergeant John Prendergast – had looked into the claim that Ms Dawson was employed at Rock Castle Private Hospital in Curl Curl two years after she went missing.

And it was found “she was not employed there”, Mr Loone said.

I wonder if they were hoping to discover whether or not the eldest daughter had any childhood memories of something she may have witnessed.

...to believe Silkman or not...hmmm...

MOO
The closing statement by the prosecution may not give too much weight to this witness in the end... they won't need to.
