The parents of missing Sydney 16-year-old, Mahmoud Hrouk, received a tip that he might be in a house. They peered through a window and saw his blood-covered body, with what police say were 'brutal' head injuries.

Police say the parents are extremely distraught. They are seeking the help of the public and ask anyone with info to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

His uncle has told AAP Mahmoud had organised for his mother to pick him up after he mentioned on the phone he was at Mitchell St in Fairfield East.
The street is around the corner from where Mahmoud's body was found on Belmore St.
When the call to her son dropped out, Maha Dunia went to Mitchell St, calling out for her son but couldn't find him, family say.

Those poor parents, and his family. I hope they get answers soon.

Fatally bashed teen Mahmoud Hrouk 'a beautiful boy' from loving family

As the sun set last Saturday he asked Mahmoud to come and get some BBQ chicken with him from Granville.

"I said 'Mahmoud, Mahmoud come with me, please come.' He said: 'No, I want to eat McDonalds.' "I thought, 10, 15 minutes he'll be back."

Mr Hrouk said it was very unusual for his son to go out at night so when he rang him at 7.30pm and asked if he could go to a friend's house, he saw no reason to say no. When he was not home by nine Mr Hrouk phoned him and asked if he was okay. Mahmoud said he was.

"When he talked to me I swear to god from my heart, my son, [I thought] something has happened."

A chorus of relatives chime in and all swear it was very unusual for Mahmoud to be out late at night. His mother was the last person to hear his voice and she said her son asked her to pick him up from nearby Mitchell Street about 9.40pm.

"He said: 'Mum I'm over at [my friends] on Mitchell'…And the line cut," she said.

Her car screeched around the streets of Fairfield and Villawood all night and dozens of family members walked the streets yelling his name. The next morning someone told the family they thought he could possibly be at a house on Belmore Street.

It sounds like an abandoned house where the body was found, doesn't it?

NSW Police have arrested a 22-year-old man over the sexual assault and murder of Sydney teenager Mahmoud Hrouk.

Mahmoud's badly beaten body was found by his family in a home in Fairfield East in May.

Police said Mahmoud had suffered extensive injuries.

Police arrested the 22-year-old Fairfield East man at 3:00pm and he is currently being questioned at Fairfield Police Station.

Mahmoud was last seen on the evening on Saturday, May 16, when he rode his bike to a McDonald's outlet in Villawood.

I'm very glad there has been an arrest in this case as the details of the murder are so disturbing, it makes me worry for anyone in the community with someone who could do that on the loose.

So glad they found the perp so quickly. I hope it is the right guy. Whoever did this needs to be locked up for a long long time. This is horrendous. I cannot imagine how painful it was for the family to find their poor boy like that. :candle: :rose: :cry:
