I'm slightly confused by the address on RB's love letter; is he addressing it to Monique at 16 Rue de la liberation ITZIG ?? or is this his address?
If it's her address, then did DdH and RB also live in Itzig? (as DdH testified) or in Luxembourg.
If it's his address, then MC must have known where he lived with his wife.

That's what I thought as well but reading it a few times I am not so sure.

I had always assumed that MC lived in the same area as RB in Luxembourg (not sure how I came to that) but I had assumed that he had moved his family to the UK when things ramped up with MC, but it looks like they were still there and he was in full love bombing mode in 1980.

To ask her to babysit his son they must have been still in Luxembourg.

I find it hard to believe MC didn't know he was married, but his wife he seems to have kept on a short lead or complicit - jury still out for me on that one .

I believe this is the heart of the MB con/scam. I feel sure it's more than just RB encouraging her about convenience or marriage. Change of last name, yes. But he had to convince her that having the same intials was critical for some important purpose. And those of you above, on the Asian layover posts, are convincing me that's when they married.

And as MB was willing to change her name, maybe for marriage etc, why didn't she change her bank accounts to match? Can't believe he wouldn't have known the need for that if the end game was to get the money.

That has always been difficult to understand. The only explanation I can come up with is that she would have needed ID to change the accounts. If, for instance, RB was with her when she applied for her passport and HE kept her deed poll papers, she would have to wait for her passport to arrive to have enough ID (PASSPORT & DL) to change her accounts - or perhaps she did need the deed poll and he took it with him. If her passport was late arriving, perhaps she decided she could do it from the UK, knowing she had enough cash to see her through till then. Best explanation I can think of ATM.

@BonnieB what you write above reminds me of what the podcast said about conmen pushing things through urgently, so as not to lose the momentum of the con. So RB pushes her for the name change and helps her get it done, but the bank accounts maybe took more time, as you said. Or MB stalled him and said she could do it from UK. Only she couldn't. I wonder if the banks had regulations regarding deed poll name changes and account names? Because when she returned, she had no problem with the banks. More than ever, I believe RB had his plan. MB messed it up, either on purpose or by accident (or bank regulations), and this compromised MB's life.

I wonder whether the IDL in the name of FNR would have been enough to get a name change on MBs passport, or whether she had to wait for the deed poll name change to be authorised and paperwork received? The whole 'name change' scenario seems much more common in Australia, as RB was able to use to his advantage.

I am missing something very simple in the scenario of MB's name change and documents. MB changed her name by Deed Poll to FNMR and also travelled to UK under that name. What I don't understand is the international driving license used as supporting ID on her passport application. Was this the acquired license in the hands of RB? Had MB applied for a name change with her own license and therefore had her own IDL in the name of FNMR? Was MB's new identity/unusual name just down to using the dodgy FNR license? Or was it to circumvent any delay to the new passport issue awaiting the deed poll documents? I am sure you will all know the answer to this, so please help me, I just can't unravel it.

These are the exact thoughts I've been struggling with - would Marion knowingly make a name change in order to use a driving licence that wasn't her's? It's all so odd.

Hi everyone, I am not familiar with all the information out there so hopefully not just asking the same question again (sorry if I am) - have searches been done around boat hiring, purchasing, licensing etc by RB in 1997? Bryon bay? Norfolk Pines picture?

For someone who is so sketchy and inconsistent with detail, RB offered the information about the tea chests and the uniformed man visiting his residence with Marion. Could he be setting up his story now in the event that something is discovered?
