hmm, I like this theory except Bali is a densely populated small island, and AFAIK most of the slums are even more densely populated than the rest of the island. I think it would be v difficult for a foreigner to hide a body somewhere like Bali. Maybe he could bribe someone to help, but MOO is it would be much easier to find an isolated area in NSW than in Bali for this purpose.

Family friends operate a charter boat service. Boat captain willing to look the other way while a large package goes overboard into the Pacific?

As you pointed out to me Mishy and I doubled checked it by listening to the inquest again but when AC asks him what was his father’s name and after a bit of confusion with the DD name Aka then adds at the end de Hedervary but AC misses it and doesn’t question him again. He is saying his father’s name is DDdeH.

This is why I so want to see that ORIGINAL birth certificate. And even then how do we know he didn’t steal that identity many years ago?

Part of me still believes (JMO) that he was Hungarian Jewish refugee taken in by the Catholic Church in Belgium.

I think he added the deH name at the end because he realised that his kids to Diane hold that name and had no idea that their father WASNT a deH.

The lady said earlier that she didn't know how he got the photos of her but that she thinks he drugged her.

I think she may be embarrassed by the whole thing, and it is really her business and no one else's if she wants to keep anything to herself.

I am glad she was brave enough to come forward at all and tell what happened to her and can understand if she wants to keep some things private.

Blum was born Willy Coppenolle in Tournai, Belgium, on July 9, 1939.

After the 1942 death of his father during Blum’s formative years, his mother remarried. As a result his name changed for the first time, to Willy Wouters.

Some of this was in his testimony at Barter’s inquest. Other details are in archived newspapers and immigration records unearthed during almost four years of digging by volunteer researchers helping Barter’s daughter, Sally Leydon.

In 1956, aged just 16, Blum made the Belgian press after being shot at by police trying to evade capture. He’d been caught stealing lead piping and copper fittings from a construction site in Herstal and received a suspended five-month prison sentence.

Through the mid to late 1960s he faced Belgian courts for offences including larceny, embezzlement, impersonation and false documents.


Urgent police and ASIO clearances were obtained by phone on March 23 that year, his application approved on March 24, and citizenship granted at a Sydney ceremony on March 25. Bureaucrats have never been more efficient.


In reality his dad, Desire David, died from abdominal swelling, according to a family historian.

Blum could hardly claim his stepfather was on his deathbed either; he died in 1989. His mother, Maria Coppenolle, lived until 1990.


By 1980, still married to Diane, he was living in Luxembourg and having an affair with a woman named Monique Cornelius, the Barter inquest heard. Cornelius was in the process of divorcing a footballer, Fernand Remakel.

The music died when Cornelius realised Blum had a wife and immediately called things off.

To be able to gain clearances like he did, he must have some family with traction. Politician connections or maybe wealthy connections to families in important places =Maria was a tailor - he says she had her legs blown off = IMO BS of course = the paper reports she was an amputee = Her ARMS maybe.....certainly not her legs!

And Desire stole ferrets and drove cars = can't imagine them having extended family to convince ASIO

MC states she flicked him as soon as she knew he was married and after looking after 2 year old David DeH who was born in 1979. Yet they are still writing to each other when he moves to Tasmania.
And MC doesnt divorce FR until 1988 /1989
Yet she keeps letters from her lover for decades. And AKA uses her Exs name to convince Marion to change her name......THE ONLY VICTIM FOUND SO FAR THAT HAS CHANGED THEIR NAME....something not adding up here for me in regard to MC either.

Animal abusers, Liars, Comrades, living off the Australian Government for ever - while some believe she is innocent and a victim of coercive control - she has had NO problem taking money from the Government for pretending to be his carer!

I call that fraud, I call that lies. I call them living off the fortunes of others and giving their children the spoils of an education and properties all at the expense of victims.

Properties? I think they have friends in high places all right.

I hope the authorities are searching through all of the family's lives = I KNOW some here have found a Shipload of eye opening things on this family.

I wish the papers would just come out and spill it all - but that isnt going to happen if the authorities are building their case.

I for one would LOVE to see the kids on that stand.

IMO this is where recollections become less accurate once things turn sour. The lady designated by The Australian as Victim A advertised for a partner in a personal ad, so presumably was looking for romance. She allowed RB to take photos of her naked, so presumably this was a romantic relationship. So IMO the hook was romance and not the potential business proposition. “He’s ugly, he’s got not much education. No looks, no personality, insipid,” she said. “But the business, the business held me" as quoted was IMO not the opinion held until the relationship ended. RB was able to charm his way into many women's lives and affections..they must have found him attractive. All MOO, but as this romance scamming seemed to be a full time career for RB, he must have had something going for him....
Personal ads, coins, intimate photos for potential blackmail ..how many more ladies out there that were conned?

He certainly hasn't the chisled good looks of an Adonis but there are those rough diamonds type of men that some women are drawn to. IMO, he swoons them with his attentiveness, knowing just how much they long to be desired, wanted and taken care of even if that means going to another country with him to live. He's had a lot of practice to perfect it and a bonus for him would be his French/Belgian accent which IMO many women fall for. I am hoping more of his victims, which I feel sure are many, find the courage to tell their stories about this monster. I just pray that soon we can all learn what happened to Marion and where she can be found.

It would be great to do a refresher on all the properties they have lived in from the time of his arrival in 1970 on the Chusan to now - as much as we know of anyway, just to get a clearer timeline to the present day.

I still believe that although she was looking for romance, when she met him in person she may have found he wasn’t attractive to her, he picked up on that immediately and changed his strategy to business partnership. With the photos, it sounds like he drugged her. There are plenty of well known cases where romantically undesirable abusers have had to drug their victims in order to get them to submit eg Bill Cosby. Further, didn’t one of his other victims, “Charlotte”, state that their relationship wasn’t romantic. IMO, he just employed whatever strategy it took to get what he wanted, getting to know his targets and then honing in on their vulnerabilities whether it be financial, loneliness etc without the burden of any empathy or guilt getting in his way.

I think it’s been mentioned before but I wonder what has happened to those ‘blackmail’ photos? For any victim there must be an awful nagging feeling not knowing what he has done with them.

I did wonder if he took photos of JO when in the hotel room when she was ‘bewitching’ him or at any point. Was she asked? She strikes me she wasn’t intimidated by him and saw him as a bit of a fool.

If he did photo JO then it was likely his MO in the late 1990s was to take incriminating photos as leverage and to coerce.

If he threatened to send photos of MB to family, friends, former work colleagues etc that would leave the her in a very vulnerable position and under his full control.
