I was just listening to episode 39 Twisted Tales. It quotes from the Brief of Evidence the real FR claiming not to remember ever meeting FdH and also not knowing about the relationship between FdH and MC.

However MC claimed in the podcast interview that she asked her former husband (who had psychology knowledge) to suss out FdH as they were still on good terms and she was suspicious of FdH. He did and that’s when the FR identity card was stolen.

A bit of confusion.

The gist of it is that Ms Flammes relatives have a theory that Ric Blum may be connected to a spate of serial killings in Belgium.

Seems it's about a gang of three suspects.

Ms Flammes daughter Ms Plume said her deceased husband thought RB may have been connected to the gang

One of the three suspects is a man they call The Giant who is described as tall and with a limp.

Belgian LE has asked for information on Ric Blum, but have pointed out that he is not a suspect.

It's said that all the killings happened when RB was not in Australia.

The Belgian police want RB's DNA and fingerprints.

Wikipedia has an extensive page on the "Brabant Killers" looking at the dates the giant with the limp might have indeed been in Europe. I do hope DNA is tested for past crimes.
Stealing guns, cars, food, coffee and wine, killing people for it!!!

With the greatest of respect to the people who have allegedly ruled him out... but honestly how could anyone be sure where RB was or wasn't unless he was literally locked up in prison (and even then I'd be checking carefully) what with his proclivity for travelling in various names?

For everyone interested, the most used name for these ‘Brabant killers’ is ‘De bende van Nijvel’ (Nijvel is a place in Belgium, Bende means gang.) while googling this will get you more hits.

There is a LOT on this topic online. There are many theories, suspects and still at this day searches & investigations. There are suspects for ‘the giant’ (‘de reus’) but no proof.
It’s an old case that’s very much alive in Belgium.

Ah Ha! How interesting! I checked him on that a while ago re links to OC and sent through a tip but heard nothing then. More recently I was looking at that case for something else (Gentleman of Heligoland) and passed on a tip there too.
Initially (for AKA) I was interested in the perp they called “Le Géant” but he seemed too tall (at 6’5”) for AKA, but there were others in the gang that were tall but not as tall. The MO seemed good for his early life of petty crime escalating and the link to the gendarmerie were initially what interested me. How very interesting that it’s come up now.

As we have seen time and again both in this case and thousands of others, crook departments lead to
innocent suspects.

One thing this MB case has taught me is to never take the authorities account as legitimate in many cases. If SL had done that the world would never have heard of RB.

Hmmm, I have a different take. I feel we have to be a bit careful of never taking accounts by LE as legitimate….otherwise we have nothing to go on (or starting bases) apart from suspicion or feelings.

Yep which is why I did say IN MANY CASES...." One thing this MB case has taught me is to never take the authorities account as legitimate in many cases.
SL tenacity for the truth despite what the authorities told her about her mother, is a prime example.

From reading about various cases over the years, not just on WS, I I can see that many cases were not taken seriously.

I feel there was a lack of care and concern and the feeling that they just couldn't be bothered.

I think things have changed, or at least I hope so.
