The podcast isn't just Xanthe Mallet, she talks to Sally Leydon and Jodi Ward, and there is talk of a new DNA forensics centre that Jodi and others ? are starting, plus there will be international connections. I hope Othram is one.

The podcast mentions cases that the previous centre had success in identifying and how, sadly, funding ran out in 2024
One they had success with is Tanya Glover, the lady in the wall. They were able to give her back her name.

And about Sally's new website Missing Matters which will be about other missing people, as well as her mother.

It's not so much an update on the case.
It's can advances in forensics identify some of the over 2000 skeletal remains, bones, fragments, and hopefully Marion.
And the new centre.

Is there any news on the whereabouts and status of Ric Blum and his family? Or do they just get to carry on living like normal despite we've uncovered their fraudulent and criminal behaviour?

Is this stuff addressed on a different platform? I'm not on FB any more, maybe there's updates there?

Thank you! I was being a bit lazy, sorry, by not checking myself but you’ve really motivated me now! This is really interesting - and necessary in order to keep up with and be able to work with organisations overseas. Will
Listen for sure

It's the terms and conditions for apply for an International Driving Permit.

The zoom didn't do much for me, I used my sherlock holmes big magnifying glass.

A WS post from 4 April 2023 re Zabdiel Zillig ...

ugh

From the Trove link above it’s obvious that Ric Blum met up with the organizer of this White Magic workshop at least once on the Gold Coast. Possibly in Bali too. A group like this could provide an intimate atmosphere where romance could flourish.

These workshops would be rich hunting grounds for someone like Blum and it certainly looks like he was gearing up for a new scam. Fortunately the ZZ name change was denied…

Is this similar to one of those stories in that repulsive book I read we believed may have been written by Ric Blum? I've mostly blocked it out of my memory but there was a 'story' about some guy who set up a spiritual meditation class that turned into a small cult what with the leader being so attractive and mesmerising to women. Insert puke face smiley here.

Puke face smiley rec’d and seconded. Yes that book was lurking in the back of my mind when reading about the workshop with Alan Oken (now passed away) and Maggie Kerr (now apparently retired and out of the ‘biz’). I wonder how many participants would recall a nosy braggart who might have been unaccompanied by his Australian wife? Although I believe he would have gotten entry through DdH, simply because from the Bali photos it looks to me like she could dress the part.

Does anyone remember the statement from a woman who knew RB from her childhood and then came across him again in her working life, she said that she saw him at a "group" that was mainly attended by women. I couldn't think what sort of group was mainly attended by women but open to all, then I saw the group pics of Maggie Kerr's get togethers and I personally believe this is the group she was referring to. Although I can't actually see him in any of the pics online
@KiwiNZ post sums it up in essence.

The DECADES he spent fooling different Government departments, how Customs worked, who he knew in Airline Companies, the flight costs and the travelling in and out of Australia for sometimes ONLY days, and where some of those Flights LEFT FROM, the Dept of Motor Transport, the way Banks worked, the way Police Departments worked, the way the COURT systems worked here in Australia, the Legislation around properties, the legislation around Wills and Deeds, the legislation around Accounting.
Legislation around business ownership, how off shore banking worked.

The witness who testified he was at a group for women.
The fact that his Cousins wife Christine L was left in Bali and couldn't speak English.
The fact other victims at the inquest needed an interpreter because they couldn’t speak English.

The small drop of perhaps truth that he told MC , that he was a spy for the British Embassy. Of course he was a spy! ! Just not in the context that she used it as. He probably had been there many times as an interpreter for someone at some point.

He EVEN told the world in his advertisement using Remakel. POLYGLOT.

A master of languages. It's why so many of us here could hear differing intonations in his voice. Hungarian, French, Dutch, Italian.

His constant trips to Bali that he knew so well.
The Evangelist groups he inserted himself into.
Evangelist Groups. Spiritual Groups. Groups for people searching for "new ways of living".

He was an interpreter.

Hi @mishy66 - good to see you.

I like your reasoning, but having worked with interpreters in the past, I just can’t see AKA having the necessary skills and attributes to be a good interpreter in Australia. In saying this, I am thinking back to some of his AKAisms, like “she jumped on my neck” and “employ a term of bacchanalia with Korean parents…”. Of course, this over the top language is partly due to AKA’s performance for the inquest (MOO), but I can’t see AKA putting his ego aside in order to give a clear translation for the benefit of others.

In Australia interpreters are accredited by NAATI – the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters - Home - NAATI Pretty sure that AKA would have needed a tax file number in order to work as an interpreter in an official capacity. I doubt he could have gotten away with multiple name changes. We know he wanted to keep a low profile regarding income so he could continue to claim the disability pension. And personally, I think he is 'allergic' to real work.

Yes, in the Remakel advertisement he claimed that he was a polyglot. He also said that he owned several properties and was looking for a permanent relationship or marriage. I don’t think we can rely on any statements made by AKA.

I agree he has learned much about Australian legal & financial systems, but I don’t think he obtained this knowledge by working as an official interpreter. JMO as always

I agree with the above points but there's a wild difference between the sort of 'helping people' with interpreting that AKA could have perpetrated and being an 'official interpreter' for authorities and institutions.

I would see it the other way around. He could have easily been someone who accompanied people to their appointments with all sorts of officialdom and institutions. He could have put adverts on cards in shop windows or small ads in local papers. There would / could be no regulation of this - in the same way even today in my country, someone can legally advertise themselves as a 'psychotherapist' with zero training or accreditation or evaluation. He could offer his language skills and paperwork skills to individuals or groups of people, help them fill out application forms or such.

Regardless, seems obvious that he had fully acquainted himself with the processes and details of many many institutions and regulatory bodies and played around in the gaps. As I imagine lots of paper fraud, con artists, identity thieves, scammers, etc will do. He has just been way more prolific and international than most it seems and may be a murderer.

He certainly had a "way" with words when he wanted to denigrate women.

I think he had a genuine dislike of women, to the point that he wanted to take everything they owned. including their confidence. He seemed to want to destroy them and leave fhem with nothing.

I think it's a two pronged issue with such prolific pathological antisocial abusers.

Firstly they will always predate on the weaker and more vulnerable in society, so that would be children / women / the elderly / the disabled / the deceased (yes, they also abuse the bodies and finances of dead people).

In this regard, it's why we've found out about Marion because she wasn't quite as vulnerable and alone as other victims maybe - she had a daughter who persistently wouldn't go away. She was known and established and well loved in her community where she was a professional employee coming in contact with thousands of children and parents. She had so much contact with others, it's quite mind-blowing really compared to say someone who didn't have children or who worked in an isolating job.

This sadly means there's likely to be scores, hundreds, or even thousands of more victims who will never be identified. He's likely a murderer, so many of them could be long since dead at his hands and we'll never know. His children and people who've known him could help out a bit in this regard IMO.

Secondly, they could angrily detests a certain demographic - psychological profilers comprehend this sort of thing. Men who target women who have a similar look or way of being to the thing that agitates / excites them. A sick compulsion and murderous rage. JMO MOO

I remember thinking about him being a polyglot. It's a very useful talent. But it's more than having languages, it's about understanding the nuances of speech. A good interpreter can translate but a really good one can listen and understand what hasn't actually been said.
In my case I interviewed Holocaust survivors with my actually very rusty Yiddish, decades ago when I was a student But I still got the underlying gist when there just weren't the descriptive words available in any language. It was difficult.
He can do that. He can listen between the words. So yes, he is an interpreter in a way. He understands how people communicate and used it to his advantage.
Lovely to see you @mishy66

I had a lazy day yesterday, read the book again and went down a rabbit hole miles long about the Brabant gang.
Thoughts -
The burying with hungry cats is ridiculous. An embellishment, a good story and makes him look like a maverick defender of an abused girl.
The champagne bottle was obviously tampered with - little holes in the top ! It wasn't poisoned. A device to confuse and waste emotional time for Evelyn. He knew that she wouldn't be taken seriously. Frightened women rarely are. Imagine if by some fluke it was tested, then Evelyn looks like an hysterical woman confirming a bias and He walks away.
He never ever gets his hands dirty. He walks, gets driven, uses public phones. Evidence depends on other people to say they were with him.
I think that he had people supporting him. Wether they were in his pay or being blackmailed I don't know.
I am going to have to write things down as I think.
My opinions only.
I think that his wife knows. I wasn't sure earlier but changed my mind. I wonder if she thinks he was all worth it.
My opinions only

No evidence whatsoever that he ever laid a hand on a woman either. There were threats with photographs and reports about the childcare facility.and I do believe he had an influence with Marion and the TSS and they were enough to tip Marion over the edge. Did the job and it always looks like someone else's fault.
I wonder if it's the same with a gun. It's not actually HIM is it , doing the damage.
That's how he can do it. It's not HIM. And that's what he says all the time.
I never took anything from you ! I was never there ! Not me !
And repeat.
Gaslighting works especially well when you are old and the authorities just want you to go away.
MOO.

I don't think he speaks like someone who has had much education.
I find his speech quite simplistic, and quite crude.

Hmm what about his flowery poetic letters and romantic overtures? The singing testicles etc?

It is possible he speaks many languages on a base level, in the same way that a market stall holders catering to groups of international tourists can. He also seems to have several languages just by dint of birth and location over time which is about luck and circumstance over education. However, he clearly fancies himself as literate and educated, so this is where some form of studying or reading may propel him - he did after all tell the judge that he was 'not right in the head maybe because of all the books I've read' ... or something similar, I paraphrase.

He's probably read a fair few books in prison or whilst holed up on his travels biding time, it's what people used to do before the internet, tried his hand at writing classes and called himself a poet or lyricist now and then. Seems the type.
