"More than 40 Islamic organisations in Australia have condemned the actions and asked Australians to stand together. Such an act is condemned by all religions. All day we have been standing side by side with the police to identify the gunman and help as much as we can."

Thanks Sleepinoz and Miranda. I should've known after the GBC case this was my one stop shop. Duh! Good to see some familiar faces.

As of Monday, it was unclear what group was behind Sydney’s hostage crisis. At first, it wasn’t clear whether the plot was related to the Islamic State. Many suspected it was. But the original flag the hostages pushed against the window wasn’t an Islamic State flag.

But then the assailant offered to release some hostages. But only, he said, after he or she was given a flag of the Islamic State.

Kevin, we have heeded the call. We have been on high terrorism alert since September when a plot was uncovered to behead a random innocent Aussie. At that time, over 800 police raided certain homes throughout the east coast. We have terrorism-specific software we are using to monitor the internet. We seek out people who are funding terrorism. We cannot visit certain countries without special permission. If we do, we are not allowed back into Australia.

We are doing many, many things. There are many, many tight restrictions and laws that have been introduced this year. I think you may need to do a little research.

Still complete darkness at the Lindt Cafe, but you can just make out the black extremist flag being held up in the window
