Found Deceased Australia - Matthew Leveson, 20, Cronulla, NSW, 24 Sept 2007

Perfect, the problem is LE should have waited before preventing a case on circumstantial evidence, in my mind Mr A is very much guilty, with no remorse for his wrong doing, he was clear to make a deal immediately after the verdict was read. His poor parents have to know that scum bag is walking around , and their son (whom i understand) was a bubble of sunshine is gone forever. I hope they find something to nail his 🤬🤬🤬 to a needle in his arm... I digress.

ABC Online reports that Leveson’s workmate Kerrieann Waud testified that the deceased had reached his limits with Atkins’ “********” and jealousy, saying that the day before Leveson’s disappearance he complained that Atkins was pushing for them to have threesomes.
“He wants me to pick up boys when we are out and have a threesome”, Leveson told Waud, adding that Atkins thought he was “God’s gift to men”.
Waud also said that Leveson looked on the verge of tears when he told her about a party the pair attended where Atkins allegedly pushed him around.
“That is why I have to go to the gym all the time and keep up with him, have you seen his arms?” he allegedly said to Waud.

http://tetrasys.fi/in/nyt/1096~151~37534/'He-did-it':-Matthew-Leveson's-mother-breaks-down

The mother of missing Sydney man Matthew Leveson fled a coronial inquest in distress today, shouting "he did it" at the 53-year-old man who was acquitted of her son's murder.
Faye Leveson, whose son has been missing since September 2007, stood and shook her finger at Michael Atkins, who was found not guilty of murder and manslaughter after five days of jury deliberations in 2009.
"He did it. He did it. We just want his body back," Ms Leveson cried out during an unscheduled adjournment at the Glebe Coroners Court in Sydney, as she broke down in frustration.
The courtroom altercation followed revelations Mr Atkins waited almost four days until he first attempted to call Mr Leveson's mobile phone, a coronial inquest heard.
Mr Atkins made that call around 9am on 27 September, 2007 - just hours after Sutherland Police had twice telephoned him that same morning to make enquiries about his missing partner.
The phone call went to the voice mail of Mr Leveson's red mobile phone, which police later discovered underneath a mat in the passenger seat side of Mr Atkin's car.

Giving evidence at a coroner's inquiry today, Detective Senior Constable Scott Craddock confirmed all calls and text messages made in and out from Mr Atkins' phone in the four-day period after Mr Leveson went missing.
Phone data revealed Mr Atkins had largely ignored incoming calls and text messages from the Leveson family in the days after Matthew went missing.
Several hours after Mr Atkins had made that first call to Mr Leveson, the court heard he then sent a text message to an unknown number.
Police traced the owner of that phone, a Sydney male who confirmed he did not know Mr Atkins or Mr Leveson, but that he was active on gay dating websites in 2007, Det. Craddock told the inquest.

A homicide detective also contended Mr Atkins's body language and eyes suggested he had wanted to give police more information when three officers drove him to the scene where Mr Leveson's abandoned car was found.
The Toyota Corolla was discovered on September 27 outside public toilets at Waratah Oval in Sutherland, a well-known gay cruise spot.
Leveson's body has never been found, since he vanished in September 2007. He was last seen leaving inner-city Sydney gay nightclub ARQ with Atkins.
During the 2009 trial, Atkins' defence argued Mr Leveson may have met foul play at the hands of drug dealers or a stranger involved in casual gay sex at Waratah Oval.

Oh dear, its like nothing ever happened :(

Neighbours of Michael Atkins in his Brisbane apartment complex say they are horrified by who they are living next to.
While Mark and Faye Leveson continue their traumatic search for their son Matthew's body in the Royal National Park south of Sydney, Atkins is not helping.
Instead, he moved to Brisbane where he has bought a unit right in the city's party precinct.
Atkins spends his days gardening, running errands and working out. He is even the president of the building's body corporate.

Remind you of another GC resident? ;) I swear it's like Sodom and Gomorrah up there during the past couple of years. I don't think I'll be tempted to visit for a very long time. If ever.

Gotta love ACA's 'spin' on news:

A Current Affair November 23, 2016

'The dramatic confrontation with Michael Atkins, the man who got away with the unthinkable after telling police where he buried the body of his former partner Matthew Leveson.

* Plus, the courtroom decisions that have many labelling our justice system a joke and the suburban hitmen terrorising quiet neighbourhoods.'
__________

* Yup, guess who they're talking about ;)

Atkins may be starting to feel uncomfortable now.
IMO though not uncomfortable enough yet.

http://www.samesame.com.au/news/14746/Michael-Atkins-Banned-From-Local-Gym

It has been reported by The Courier-Mail that Michael Atkins has been banned from using his local gym after management received a growing number of complaints from members.
Atkins, who recently lead police to the supposed burial site of his ex partner Matthew Leveson, was earlier this week handed a letter notifying him that his membership had been terminated. He had been attending the YMCA at Bowen Hills in Brisbane.
Having been spectacularly acquitted of Leveson’s murder back in 2009, it’s been reported that YMCA gym members began raising concerns after a 60 Minutes special aired on the case.
“After the 60 Minutes story, there were always whispers and looks from members whenever he was around,” one staff member told Courier Mail.
“But since he’s come back and the front page last week, it’s gotten worse. We’ve had several complaints from members.”
“He usually comes in during non-staff hours but even then he was helping other guys with their form in the gym, doing anything to flirt with guys.”
“We are a family first gym, we’ve had families raising their concerns and threatening to leave if we didn’t do something about the situation.”
A petition has been started by members of the local LGBTI community, pushing to have Atkins banned from all LGBTI venues not only Queensland, but Australia.

Bohemian. The way I read all that, is that Atkins texted Rogers on 24 September but didn't invite him to the ball until a subsequent text on 29 September. The reporters' phrasing is a bit vague in places, but that's not unusual.

Atkins did though, apparently, invite Bradley Johns to the Sleaze Ball.

http://www.sbs.com.au/topics/sexuality/feature/lost-boy

When Atkins arrived at the Newcastle apartment, he went directly into the shower. The two then had sex and went out to a nightclub nearby. Johns said Atkins expressed no emotion about the disappearance of his partner. He also offered him a ticket to the forthcoming Sleaze Ball, saying he now had a spare ticket. Johns ditched Atkins at the nightclub and fled back to the apartment, leaving Atkins stranded outside the security building. The filthy work clothes Atkins arrived in were later thrown away. No-one will ever know what clues those work clothes might have contained.

Reward Increased For Matt Leveson: "We Just Want Him Home For His Birthday"

'Faye Leveson’s heart is breaking all over again. On the phone, her voice cracks and falters as she describes the overwhelming disappointment of this month’s unsuccessful week-long search for her son, Matty’s body.

“It’s his 30th birthday soon. We were hoping to have him home for it, where he’s loved – where he’s so loved,” she tells me. “It was devastating, to sit there every day. It was like Matt was being murdered a second time. It was devastating.”

Following the delivery of an emotional letter on Monday night, the remarkably resilient parents of missing Sydney man Matthew Leveson have been granted some small solace in the form of a substantial increase to the government’s reward for any new information leading to the discovery of their son’s body.

Minister for Justice and Police Troy Grant last night said in a statement:

“This afternoon I spoke to Mark Leveson to inform him that the NSW Government will increase the reward offered for information leading to the discovery of his son Matthew’s body from $100,000 to $250,000.”'

How disgusting for Faye and Mark and their family and friends to have to go through this already over prolonged agony.

Whilst I'm appreciative of the increase of the reward for information leading to the recovery of Matthews body, authorities have their man. He seems to keep side stepping successfully and somehow gets to walk free

Michael Atkins Struggles To Sell Apartment In 'Urgent Sale'

Thu 1st Dec, 2016

'The man acquitted of murdering Matthew Leveson is struggling to sell his apartment in Brisbane, listing it for “urgent sale” after petitions began circulating to have him barred from local hang-outs, including the ‘family first’ gym he frequents.'

'SameSame have been advised that the apartment was originally listed for $459,000 and since been reduced to $430,000. He reportedly paid $408,000 for the unit at time of purchase.'

'Speaking to Matthew’s father, Mark Leveson, earlier this week, it’s clear that where Atkins runs to next is of little concern.

“We don’t care what happens to Atkins, we just want our son home.”'

Nothing found in search for Matthew Leveson

Published: 2:34 pm, Wednesday, 11 January 2017

A secret search for the remains of missing man Matthew Leveson in dense bushland south of Sydney has failed to unearth any trace of the 20-year-old who disappeared 10 years ago.
Homicide squad detectives launched a renewed bid to find Mr Leveson's remains in the Royal National Park on Monday, almost two months after a large-scale search was called off in mid-November.
'At this time, Mr Leveson's remains have not been located. Inquiries are continuing and further searches in the vicinity are expected,' a NSW Police spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
'As Mr Leveson's disappearance is the subject of an ongoing coronial inquest, no further comment is available at this time.'

THE devastated parents of missing man Matthew Leveson have spoken about their heartbreak after a secret police search failed to find the remains of their son who vanished a decade ago.

Homicide detectives have been searching for the body of the 20-year-old in an area of dense bushland at Waterfall in the Royal National Park since Monday.
Detectives focused their search efforts at this particular spot after receiving information from Michael Atkins — the former lover of Matthew who was acquitted of his murder in 2009.
After the search was called off today, Matthew’s father Mark Leveson told The Daily Telegraph he and his family were “completely deflated”.
“You are on tenterhooks because at any time they could stop and say we’ve found something,” he said today.
“We were waiting, hoping and of course the answer is nothing.”

Matthew’s mother Faye could hardly speak as she spoke about the search which concentrated on an area off McKell Ave.
“It feels like Matt’s been murdered over and over again. Each time it happens [failed searches] it makes me feel like Matt has been taken away again over and over again,” Mrs Leveson said, adding she would never give up hope.
“We will bring Matt home — we are not giving up on him,” she said.
“I knew deep down he wasn’t going to be there but you have to have hope.”

The most recent search comes after a team of detectives scoured a large area of nearby bushland in November.
Atkins led detectives to the potential burial site late last year in return for being granted immunity from prosecution for perjury and contempt of court after he lied at an inquest into Matthew’s death.

The inquest into Matthew’s death is expected to resume on March 6.
