A neighbourhood friend may have offered her a car to borrow.
She may have ran to someone's house at 5:30am. Didn't she party the night before? I'd be exhausted after a raid and party, running at 5:30am would not be on my agenda.
Which ankle was purported to have been sore?

Oh my, I only just now saw this, 14th February they were speculating, a week later MC's foot is found..
I didn't realise the media had run with this and, um, had some fun with guessing what disguises she might have used..Geez...

How about Andersen's The Red Shoes?

The old lady became very ill; they said she could not live; she had to be carefully nursed and tended, and no one was nearer than Karen to do this. But there was to be a grand ball in the town, and Karen was invited. She looked at the old lady, who after all could not live; she looked at the red shoes; she thought there was no harm in doing so. She put on the red shoes, even that she might do; but then she went to the ball and began to dance! The shoes would not let her do what she liked: when she wanted to go to the right, they danced to the left: when she wanted to dance up the room, the shoes danced down the room, then down the stairs, through the streets and out of the town gate. Away she danced, and away she had to dance, right away into the dark forest. Something shone up above the trees, and she thought it was the moon, for it was a face, but it was the old soldier with the red beard, and he nodded and said, "See what pretty dancing shoes!"
. . . .
On and ever on she danced; dance she must even through the dark nights. The shoes bore her away over briars and stubble till her feet were torn and bleeding; she danced away over the heath till she came to a little lonely house. She knew the executioner lived here, and she tapped with her fingers on the window pane and said,--
"Come out! come out! I can't come in for I am dancing!"
The executioner said, "You can't know who I am? I chop the bad people's heads off, and I see that my axe is quivering."
"Don't chop my head off," said Karen, "for then I can never repent of my sins, but pray, pray chop my feet off with the red shoes!"
Then she confessed all her sins, and the executioner chopped off her feet with the red shoes, but the shoes danced right away with the little feet into the depths of the forest.
. . . .
Wow.

Can I just say for the record that everything I say is my own opinion unless stated to be fact with references or links provided.

All scenarios I suggest are hypothetical.

Thankyou.

It looks as if most of you are now agreeing with at least some of the scenario I posted about a week ago.
That is that AK could have been the one who drove MC to the Bournda Beach area to hide away where MC had attended a school camp.
Most of us have now agreed that he would not have driven her there in his Audi as that would have stood out.
My theory was that he hired a car for the purpose. But could he have used her Mercedes instead?
They could have left after OC went to school but could he have been back home before OC arrived home from school?

This journey Dover Heights to Bournda Beach would have taken 5 hr 55 min (451.9 km) via Princes Hwy/A1
So he would have needed at least 12 hours just for the driving.
If they left at 5.30am when OC heard the door bang, AK would not have been back home until 5.30pm if he just drove her there, turned around and drove back again straight away.
You would not expect OC to lie on AK's or his mother's behalf. So if AK or MC did not bang the door, who did?
I guess you could argue that OC is old enough to let himself into the house after school.
Have the police asked OC if AK was home when he arrived home from school?

Could AK and MC have left soon after the raid and AK arrived home at 5.30am?
Assuming they left as early as 8.30pm, and the return journey took 12 hours, AK could not have arrived home until 8.30am so who banged the door at 5.30am?

So perhaps a possible scenario is that when AK got up that morning and MC was not around, AK might have asked OC where his mother was. OC tells him that he heard the door bang at 5.30am so they both assumed she had gone for a walk. But when she did not return before OC went to school, AK might have told OC that he would drive around to "all her favourite spots" and if he was not home when he arrived home from school, not to worry as he could still be out looking for her. In this case, MC might have been up and banged the door so that OC would hear it and think she had gone for a walk. She then hid from OC and did not emerge until after he went to school. Then AK and MC left. Now I would imagine that OC could have been worried about his mother all day and at least could have phoned his father or his grandparents to ask them had they heard from MC as AK was not at home when he arrived home from school? But, as AK could have warned him that he might not be home, perhaps he did not worry.

The rental car and isolated accommodation (for 3 months? with keys in a lockbox) could have been booked the night after the raid and food and shakes, etc taken.

What do you think?

A neighbourhood friend may have offered her a car to borrow.

I don't think so as that person would have reported that, I would assume.

Have the police said they have anyone as a person of interest.

If not, I'm not going to speculate about any particular person.

  • #448
Not if they didn't want it known.
But I like your theory Estelle.
Except the music heard blaring the night after the raid bothers me. If that is a fact? I can't recall who wrote about it but I'm sure I read it on WS before the thread was overhauled.

If it is a fact, the music was covering something up. Maybe some home surgery?

Have I failed to post according to the rules Tootsie?

I should just be on to this instead of having to ask you but I don't want to compromise this thread and hope you can quickly advise me.

You can’t completely erase a post. You can do an edit, remove the text and put “DBM” (deleted by me) and save.

ETA: If you can’t t edit anymore, you can report your own post and ask to delete it. But IMO the first thing (edit) is preferable to don’t make extra work for the mods.

Thankyou for that.

There is a link here for etiquette and rules ... it is easy to read and may clear up a number of things.

IMO I think we can speculate on who could have driven MC to her hiding place even though AK is not a person of interest.
But we cannot speculate on anyone who could have ended her life perhaps.

Is that the way you see it?

If Melissa indeed had a secret shack somewhere down the coast, she could just as easily have had a secret ordinary looking car stashed in a garage somewhere not too far away.

There’s 3 vehicles that I’ve seen.
Merc
Audi
4x4 - why would they need a rock climber and where did they use it?

Body language OwlHeart, did you notice the pause AK did when a reporter asked about the party?
