This won't affect the point you were making, SouthAussie, but just so that no one is led astray: Erwan Ferrieux and Hugo Palmer went missing in Port Macquarie (NSW's Mid North Coast), about 400 kilometres or 250 miles from Byron Bay (North Coast or Far North Coast NSW).

No worries. I wasn't sure where Shelly Beach is ... all I know is that we went over Erwan and Hugo's disappearance on the (Byron Bay) Theo Hayez thread. And people were saying it is not too far from Byron Bay. They were speaking of a possible serial killer along the coast there - due to all the unsolved disappearances over the years.

There are a few Shelly Beaches in Australia.

One is in the Central Coast, near The Entrance. Another near Manly. And one near Port Macquarie. I bet there are more.

And the other two women? One with straight grey hair, the other dark, fuzzy? Friends, of whom?

I would say that they are friends of Barbara Grimley - perhaps from her Tai Chi class.

If that’s not him then there’s nothing to say he wasn’t there elsewhere with the son who managed to avoid the cameras as well.

The media stated that MC was farewelled by a "handful" of mourners.

My gut feeling is that Anthony Caddick, her ex-husband, wants nothing to do with any of this. Otherwise, his son would be living with him by now but the media is stating that OC is still living with AK. Either OC went to school that day or his photo is off limits.

Yes, I thought maybe friends of AG. I feel sad about the sparse funeral.

I honestly cannot believe that Melissa would somehow hack off her foot, or have it hacked off by someone else, to fake her death. It would be much easier to have taken her keys/wallet with her and left them at a clifftop location - or leave her shoes or her car at a clifftop location - if she wanted to fake her death.

I cannot begin to imagine someone who cared about their appearance, as much as Melissa did, would be happy to walk around with one foot for the rest of her life.
It would be a give-away as to who she is, if she did. "Hmmm ... that person with the prosthetic foot looks an awful lot like Melissa Caddick. Didn't they find her foot?"

I can’t imagine it either. What I guess I’m thinking is... is it possible that the sources they’re using to establish that it’s definitely her foot are authentic. And now that I’ve typed it I realise how nuts it sounds and what that level of jiggerypokery that scam would require, but... this is a mad case. So I’m allowing myself a little mad.

Mostly it’s the whole discovery thing that throws me. The incredible and remarkable good fortune that bits of her foot were found in her shoe after everything that had happened.

I’m just cautious about ruling out other twists in this story.

does a person need to legally be declared dead before holding a funeral for them?
i didnt think police had formally declared her death yet even though her foot was found?

I noticed in the media that some called it a "funeral" and others referred to it as a "memorial service".

When it comes to funeral terminology the most commonly misunderstood terms are Funeral Service and Memorial Service.

A Funeral Service is a service held to memorialize a deceased person with their body present.

A Memorial Service is a service held to memorialize a deceased person with their body not present.

However, it appears that her foot was cremated so I guess it was a funeral for which they must have had the permission of police.

I think it was actually called a Memorial Service, and not a Funeral.

No Cookies | Daily Telegraph

There is still no death certificate for the 49-year-old but The Daily Telegraph can reveal that the only part of Ms Caddick’s body that has so far been found — her foot — has now been cremated.

Dark hair women in white shirt, AK relative I think?

I was being a bit sarcastic & I don’t really think she has a gambling problem as much as a spending problem & potentially mental health issues.

IMO she thought she was invincible until August 2020.
Or thought she was, (invincible, that is)!

Some of you may have followed the tragic murder/suicide of the Hart family (2 women, 6 adopted children) by driving off a cliff in California 3 years ago. As I recall, 6 bodies were recovered, 1 has never been recovered, and of 1 of the girls, only a foot in a shoe was ever found. It was all so very sad.

The affidavits are back!
ASIC v Melissa Caddick - Online File, Federal Court of Australia

Page 29 ... they have also been investigating accounts in the names of Adam Grimley and Anthony Koletti.

Item 80 (c) and (d)
https://www.fedcourt.gov.au/__data/...n-affirmed-9-November-2020-main-affidavit.pdf

I am glad to see that ASIC have been looking at this from several angles.

It looks like Melissa was transferring (various) client money to CommSec shares - the difficulty being it was into her own CommSec account and not accounts established for her clients.
This would have made it easier for her to manage the CommSec transactions. Spend less time in account management. Not saying this was the right thing to do, just pointing out a fact.

Gary Jubelin's 'answer' to Melissa Caddick mystery - 2GB
Article from sound recording 2GB:
Gary Jubelin has weighed in on the mysterious disappearance and death of Melissa Caddick. ...

...
The former chief detective in the William Tyrrell case told Chris Smith he doesn’t believe speculation about her survival carries any weight.

“I think the answer to that mystery … I don’t think she could have been involved in that [alleged criminal behaviour] on her own.

“I would be looking at people that might have been on the peripheral, or might have been aware of it, because I’m sure she would have spoken to someone after the bubble burst.

“Those people might know what her mindset was and might have answers to the mystery.”

Let's hope so Mr M........ and also hope the investigation is in full swing along this path....

It’s very hard to believe she acted purely alone and if she did that no one else had any knowledge once it was all crumbling in, there must be more to this than has been made public.
After the ASIC raid ‘she had a normal night’ not only that had ‘a party’ but still got up for her usual run on her sore ankle
