Well that's a horrible injustice to Melissa and her loved ones.

To the judge and justice system there, what a crock. Her children will grow up to think her life didn't matter. And what an absolute insult and heartbreak all over again for Melissa's family and loved ones. (No, I don't include Rohan in that.)

Rohan shouldn't be walking free, nor should he still have custody of the children.

This is unbeliveable.

What message is this giving? Killing your wife is ok if you're famous or rich?

Rohan shouldn't be walking free, nor should he still have custody of the children.

The children were one of the reasons that his paltry sentence was suspended, apparently.

A judge in South Australia handed down a suspended sentence of nearly 17 months citing his guilty plea, his remorse and his role as sole carer of their young children.

All he really got was a little bit of a telling off (and the loss of his license for 5 years - plus a hefty defence bill, no doubt).

"To describe the consequences of the events on 30 December 2023 as tragic really does not do justice to the grief, the anguish and the turmoil those events have brought into the lives of those who knew and loved your wife," the judge said.

Melissa's parents are pure class ...

(paraphrased)

Mr Hoskins said that it is important that they have a well-mannered relationship with Rohan.
He said the children (he named them) deserve that. As they have done nothing wrong, and are just caught up in the tragedy. They have lost their mum, and it would not be ideal for them to lose their dad to a jail sentence.

Agree. I so love their approach to moving forward. They never wanted him to have a jail sentence. It's all about the grandkids for them now.

Dennis' lawyer had argued that he had no intention of harming his wife and either did not know or was "reckless to the fact" that Hoskins was holding onto the car.

She told an earlier hearing that despite his "stoic" front, Dennis felt a "deep, deep grief".

Yet he hasn't apologised to Melissa's family? It doesn't follow, imo.

Her family are in such a difficult position. I can't say I agree that they didn't want a custodial sentence. I would say anything to keep a relationship with my grandchildren, and privately seethe. As I'm not related in any way, I am happy to publicly seethe. This is not justice.

A person who can't show humility and apologize when it's really appropriate to do so is not an impressive person.

In my opinion, he thought he was better than his wife and thus disregarded her safety so severely. Such a betrayal.

The poor children are true victims.
Motherless.
Because of something that should have never happened.
What a shame 😒

A media statement spoken directly from Melissa's parents after the sentencing. (video in link, at top of page, only 3Β½ mins long)

It is worth listening to. Such gracious people. imo

Melissa's parents seem very stable and sensible. Her mum says the children "are good, they are happy". Her dad says that he is sure an apology will "come in time". He stresses that it is important that they all move forward.

Both tearful when he speaks of missing Melissa terribly.

Melissa's dad says that from the outset they were not pursuing a jail sentence for Rohan Dennis. The mental health and well being of the children have been in the forefront for them, and that remains so. Their health and well being is more important than a period of incarceration.

Rider arrested for domestic abuse in Andorra

edited to add: I searched the thread and saw people posting they didn’t think it was him

The DM also stated that it wasn't Rohan Dennis.
(Besides us working out that the person's age didn't fit Dennis)

The only problem was that it wasn't true. While Andorran police and media reported that it was an Australian professional cyclist who was arrested and charged, it was not Dennis.

Apparently, Rohan wrote a letter to Melissa... unfortunately she was deceased at the time, but, anyways, he wrote to her.... says he was sorry.

So .... I don't know where he addressed this letter to. ..

Quote Rohan, β€œThe only thing that I'm OK with about all of this, is that I'm the one suffering in this situation, and it's not you."

Really? I think not.
