South Australian police fear a man last seen in February could have met with foul play.

Michael Purse, 32, was reported missing on April 24, but further inquiries revealed he was last seen in February.

Police say Purse was also involved in Adelaide's illicit drug trade and believe this could have led to his demise.

“We believe Mr Purse was involved in the illicit drug trade with associates in Adelaide’s western and southern suburbs," Detective Inspector Billy Thompson said.

Family of missing man Michael Purse left in 'terrible limbo' following suspected murder

The family of Adelaide man Michael Purse who is presumed to have been murdered has made an emotional plea for information about his fate.

Police said his phone had not been used, his post office box was filling up and his bank accounts remain untouched.

They said he was a known drug user who suffered from a medical condition, and his disappearance has now been declared a major crime.

“Today I am appealing for anyone with information about Mr Purse’s whereabouts, or the circumstances of his disappearance to come forward and speak with us,” he said.

Detective Inspector Thompson said police suspected Mr Purse was dead because he had not accessed his bank account or social media accounts, had not used his phone or been in contact with family, and had not been spotted for an extended period of time.

“We believe Mr Purse was involved in the illicit drug trade with associates in Adelaide’s western and southern suburbs,” he said.

I’ve only just started browsing but already interesting... quote from his mum “Someone knows what happened to my son … someone can give my son back to me, so I can visit him and talk to him again, even though I know he won't be answering”....

interesting wording she has there, esp the ‘I know he won’t be answering’ part

Yep, I wasn't aware this case until a family member or friend of a family member posted it in the Theo Hayez FB group.

Soon as started reading it, sounded like a good case.

Michael Jeffrey Purse, 32, was last seen on the 6th February 2019 in the city in Adelaide, South Australia, and was reported missing on 24 April 2019. Michael’s friends and family became concerned for his welfare after they could not make contact with him.

There have been no sightings of Michael since. Michael’s phone has not been used, his post office box has not been cleared and his bank accounts have not been accessed since he disappeared.

Michael was known to be a recreational drug user and suffered from a medical condition He shaved off his beard and cut his hair short shortly before he disappeared.

All efforts by Michael’s family and police have failed to locate him and concerns are held for Michael's safety and welfare.

Police suspect he has been murdered and his disappearance has been declared a major crime.
