Am I allowed to ask what was the relationship between the flat mate and Morgan?

She attended the funeral with her boyfriend... As stated in the articles...

I just wonder why he chose a female... Instead of a male.. Flat mate...

She was a professional with steady income and 'not his type'. She seems to the most shaken-up (other than family).
He was building a fledgling business and if he was having a bad month, she may have helped. To ask a mate for money for day-to-day expenses is not kosher here.

Seems that Morgan was only in The Oaks pub for about ½ hour – arriving at 1am and leaving about 1:30am. He’d been at a friend’s engagement party that day. He was a regular in the pub, had been going there for about 10 years.

He sat at a table by himself in the pub. Maybe no other friends/acquaintances were in the pub that night. I wonder if he rang/texted someone (or several someones) while he was sitting there.

It’s only a 3min walk from the pub to his flat. I notice that there is an alley on his street that he would have walked past to get home.

Most articles say his flatmate arrived home just before 3am and heard noises from his room, then went to investigate.

Strangely, this article says she was awoken by a noise at around 3am.

“What happened next is not known but his Irish flatmate found him suffering from multiple stab wounds in his bedroom about 3am, police said.”

“The woman he shared the unit with told police she had no idea what had happened but was woken by a noise.”

<modsnip>

Then this article (below) mentions a neighbour hearing noises - so that may help to pin down the time of the attack.

"A neighbour said she was home at the time Mr Huxley was attacked, and recalled unusual noises from the apartment downstairs ."

"I may have heard someone moaning, I just can't be sure because there's a lot of noise around here," the woman said.

I wonder if this is going to turn out to be a similar motivation as the Jodi Arias / Travis Alexander case, few similarities by the looks so far.

Jumping off your post...

In The Jodi/Travis case... Many friends thought of Jodi pretty much off the bat when Travis was found murdered...

I wonder if there is "one" person friends of Morgan feel could/would have murdered him?

Are there any locals who can share the local flavor?

TIA... :seeya:

The Oaks at Neutral Bay is an iconic Sydney pub on the lower north shore. Very expensive area but also popular for renting because of stunning harbour views and closeness to city. Transport good with buses and ferries. IMO not unusual for males and females to share. Men often like it because women keep the place neat! Some women don't want to share with another woman, or feel safer having male flatmate.
Flatmate is degree educated health professional.

In addition to evidence obtained about funeral attendees I expect police will know a lot more than they're saying.
The area is very busy, Military Road is the main road and there will be a lot of cctv from local shops, restaurants and businesses.

Thanks, Legal!

Makes sense about female flat mate as the cleaner... Male as the protector...

New article ....

"Surveillance footage from inside and outside the pub has given police the exact times and movements of Mr Huxley, as well as helping identify other people who may have been in the area who may hold crucial information."

"The Daily Telegraph understands there was evidence on the dead man's body and in his bedroom which has indicated to detectives that a female could have been behind the horrific slaughter."

"He said the attack on Mr Huxley was symptomatic of a personality disorder and given he was found partly naked, Dr Petherick said it sounded as if he could have had sexual intercourse and then a fight."

Police sound confident.

It's worth getting a free logon to read (if you have an incognito email address to use). Few pics of Morgan with yet another girlfriend, JH.

bugmenot is another good source if it's a bigger newspaper like this...I don't think it's as useful (or at least not nowadays for smaller papers) but...I use it on many sites.

I agree... It sounds like the surveillance videos surrounding the area of the bar and his home are providing much needed information regarding who his attacker may be!

Additionally... LE reports that there is enough evidence in the room in which he was slain to provide quite a bit of evidence...

I imagine if there is any doubt... Found DNA could be a clincher...

I didn't need a logon to read ~ maybe you only need it in AU?? It seems like I remember X-ing out of a pop-up the first time I clicked on the link but I don't remember for sure. A lot of newslinks have the pop-up to register but unless you use that newspaper a lot you can just X out.

IMO I'll be curious to see if LE begins to look 'closer to home' for their suspect. :moo:

Just a heads up re the news links. Sydney Daily Telegraph, Brisbane Courier Mail & Melbourne Herald Sun are all owned by News Ltd. They all have a paywall, you're allowed to view five reports before they request you to sign up to view further. Following sign up you can view 10 reports before you're asked to pay a subscription fee.

However...if you go to news.com.au you'll be able to view all the reports, from each state, on the one site.

THE killer of Morgan Huxley may have attacked him while he was having sex, police believe.

In what they say may have been a "booty call" gone wrong, investigators have revealed Mr Huxley had taken part in sexual activity shortly before being stabbed 28 times.

A forensic investigation of the bedroom where the Neutral Bay businessman was found bleeding to death has uncovered evidence of sexual activity.

In this article it is reported that "Most of his friends have gone to ground, deactivating their Facebook accounts."

I do not know why they would deactivate their Facebook accounts...

Unless they were asked to by LE.... So that the Facebook activity may not be compromised.... And, therefore, avoiding interfering with the investigation?

For him to have left the door ajar, he may have wanted to keep the visit quiet to any other residents in the block -
But there are plenty of cameras along Military Road and at that cluster of intersections, and possibly down Watson Road from the shopping centre and the 'alien base' roof top with all its antenas and gizmos across from Watson Road.
In fact, that Suburb and surrounds is so well covered with cameras - right onto the Harbour Bridge and around the back of Neutral Bay, Cremorne, North Sydney, Crows Nest, Mosman ... even if you took the back streets you'd be on camera somewhere around there.

Pic - Road camera at intersection of The Oaks Hotel.

OK well if it was a booty call, doesn't some kind of contact need to be made to set up the booty call .. ie phone call, text etc?

If not, then even someone possibly who attended the prior engagement party?
He was a very popular guy by the looks of things. What a tragic betrayal of trust :(
Looks like the Police are onto it though - good!

Every time I see that there is a new post here I think it must be to say there has been an arrest, because I really think they must be close now. In the article linked above it says a woman got a text asking her over for a booty call in the days before he was killed, but she declined.

Just as a curiosity .. it'd be interesting to see that booty call pattern, I've always assumed that if a guy texts a girl for a booty call and she says no, that he just works his way down the list until he finds one that says yes. I wonder how much the feeling of 'being used' fed into whoever killed him that night?

I mean you know, like what if you're at a booty call and the guy says you were third on his list and the other two said no, or you see his phone or similar.
