anyone know if the courtyard can be entered from anyway other than the living room area in the unit?

I'd like to know that as well. I wonder if DJK might have ducked out to the courtyard, if he was still there, when he heard the flatmate putting the key in the lock when she arrived home?.

LOL - I surrender, just putting out thoughts as they come to mind.

Lol I think most of my posts are me doing the same thing!

I think this is very possible, if not probable. Perhaps the noises she heard were morgan trying to call to her for help :(

the back of the court yard there seems to be a house
which is accessable you can see the lattice house roof
to the right a railing
theres a pathway that leads up on the right with bushes to the left side from ariel view
id say thats the railing side???
as the brick wall would be the divider of the courtyards sitting side by side??
id say from the back property you could access his courtyard and also from the path on the side
any other thoughts

i still find it very hard to believe that mh let him to his unit unless they knew each other well and that doesnt seem to be the case from what we have been told

I’d say no-one better tell Grand Designs (TV show) about that strip of land … they’ll have someone build a strange shaped house on that prime piece of real estate!

Seriously though, it does look like it could be a valid escape route for a local who may know about it. If DJK didn’t just run out of the front door, that is. I’m sure the police would have searched it for any weapon, cast-off blood, etc.

(Not personally struggling with Morgan inviting DJK into the flat, sundaymorning123, he was evidently looking for company that night - judging by the calls he made to friends - and JR was out with the girls, and possibly may have thought of staying at her boyfriend's place afterwards and changed her mind.)

Is that a strip of vacant land that runs along the back of the flats, separating them from the houses behind?

Looks like the fences end, and there is a strip of vacant land between.

I tried on Bing Maps and rotated the image to get the back view of the units. Hard to say really although DJK could have hopped over a fence or two to leave the area I guess?. Below is the back view of the units. Blue dot is Oakleigh Units. www.bing.com/maps
Enter: 4-14 watson st neutral bay nsw and rotate

You're so good at this stuff enzeder! It does look as though there is another courtyard between Morgan's courtyard and the strip of vacant land by the view you've provided.

I'll check it out SouthAussie. Google maps are good for street views but I like how you can rotate the map with Bing.

I can see MH letting someone in that he doesn't really know. I've done it myself after a night of drinking, although I did live with my boyfriend. The girl I met was a local and I knew she was part of a bad crowd. But it was fine and we just sat drinking and chatting. The next day I thought I should be more careful, but drinking can really change how you judge people and situations. So it's not hard for me to imagine a man befriending another local man and going back for a drink at his place. Particularly if he was drinking all day.

The full address of the block of units is 4-14 Watson Street and is quite a large block.

In the pic below it looks like the courtyard was next to a house and basically at ground level.

A zoomed view of the house next to the units. Note the carport roof.

Carport-View.jpg

This is a street view of the house with the carport and the units next door.
The brickwall of the courtyard is visible and they even look like the same blue chairs that can be seen in the second attachment above. I'm not saying that that particular courtyard was MH's (different chair in the pic of him) but I am guessing that some of the units with courtyards are positioned along that end of the building and it would be easy to make a quick escape via the courtyard.

Thanks Makara. You can also see the white railing running above the garage door in the last picture that can be seen on the right of the second image.

I've been following the story and was doing some sleuthing the other night when they arrested DJK and said that he was gay. As I'm gay and also live in Sydney i thought i'd try checking a few of the online gay meeting sites and i came across DJK's profile on one of them.

I won't mention the site, nor profile name publicly but I can provide some details about DJK. His profile states he is 6'0" (183cm) and 77kg. He was last active on the site 8 October 2013 (day of arrest?).

Thank you Webhunter_au .. Good find :wagon:

  • #937
did he state what his occupation was on the dating site?

  • #938
Thanks Mrs G!

Sundaymorning - this particular site isn't so much for dating.. so it doesn't list those sorts of details like occupation.... ;)

Thanks enzeder! I guess DJK was up late the night before (Mon) the arrest using the site, there aren't usually many people online before 9:30am especially Mon/Tue.

<modsnip> it seems strange DJK would keep using the site after what happened. Although who knows with these things.
