Or maybe he stole his whole wallet as a memento?

Good point Mrs G. He could well have taken it as a 'trophy'....

PS I love your avatar!!!!

Another street view special.. :B

This is a close up of the view DJK would have had of the Oaks, from directly across the street at the corner of Grosvenor Lane. I gotta wonder if that's the bar Morgan was sitting at (the pic of the feller seen in this shot gave me the willies..).

Apparently DJK was in that Lane while Morgan sat drinking his last beer. It does sound to me like that bar -was- where Morgan was sitting.

There's no side street access from Military Rd to Grosvenor Lane after Vinnie's that I can see, just shop fronts.. so DJK must have turned the corner at Military/Ben Boyd Rds and ducked down the lane.

DJK may have entered Grosvenor Lane via Young Street? (a little further along from Vinnies).

Well lit up at night he would have had a great view of the bar and patrons, it certainly does sound like DJK was stalking Morgan to some extent doesn't it .. who would stand in a lane way like that watching otherwise, seriously?

I was thinking that too, enzeder, but went for turning the corner near the Oaks as I am pretty sure he was seen walking toward the Oaks, not away from.. but I could be wrong, there. I'm thinking he wandered past, spotted Morgan alone and ducked into the alley to pace around and get his courage up or something.

Yep, Mrs. G. I think it is no coincidence at all that he was lurking there minutes prior to Morgan leaving. Also, Morgan appears not to have known about it. Nuff said there.

I do not believe Morgan knew DJK was trailing him, until DJK spoke to him at the lights.

Yes, clearly he wasn't confident enough of the reception he'd get by walking into the Oaks where there were other people around, but waited until Morgan was all by himself to make the approach .. very telling.

DJK must have been loitering/lurking around the Oaks/Grosvenor Lane area for about half an hour, prior to approaching MH, because he finished work about 1am and MH left the Oaks around 1:30am. I wonder if he saw MH going into the hotel at 1am and decided to wait it out in the lane?.

On the night in question, the kitchen hand allegedly worked at the Military Road cooking school, cleaning up after a private function on Saturday night, finishing at about 1am.

Security cameras outside the Oaks Hotel captured a man in chef's pants, carrying a satchel, running after Mr Huxley as he left the pub at 1.30am.

It's also quite telling that Morgan went nowhere near the lane, IMO. And the convo happened at the lights on the main rd, quite out in the open.

I think it was more about DJK being nervous about approaching M than anything else. Maybe also being very sure M was going home alone..

eta: thinking about this a bit more... DJK is lurking, probably with a good view of Morgan. He sees Morgan leave... and then has to run to catch up, from the corner of the Oaks.

So why the delay followed by the quick catch-up? Was that a snap decision, to do more than just ogle?

I know the area quite well, and to head home MH would have no reason to go near the lane. He would have come out of the doors of the main bar (it's opened the latest) and turned right toward Military Road (where he waited is a fair bit down from the lane - half a block) and then turned right again when walking down Military Rd to the Watson St lights. The Thai restaurant where DJK caught up to him is pretty much the next shop along from the Oaks on the Military Rd side (the lights are just after the Thai Restaurant). People drive up and down the lane a fair bit - I usually park it in - and it has bars/cafes on and off it - it's quite wide. As is Ben Boyd Road which it connects to which the Oaks is on - two lanes and also cars parked and right turning lanes. So there's a bit of distance.

Sydney Cooking School is across from Oaks (on the other side of Military Rd) in between Ben Boyd and Watson (note you can't see in to the back bar which MH was sitting in from Military Rd). Vinnies is on the same side as the Oaks on Military Rd but in the block away from Watson St. The next street after Vinnies is Young St which the lane runs off. I just looked up the SMH article and it didn't say which direction DJK was walking past Vinnies - just it he was captured on their security system (which was the shots Police were using to identify him).

Also, DJK would walk home to Spruson St down Ben Boyd Rd but in the opposite direction of the Oaks - so if he was walking home after work at 1am he wouldn't have seen MH sitting in the back bar BUT maybe saw MH headed to the Oaks when he was leaving work (both reported around 1am), walked down Military Rd past Vinnies and into the lane off Young St.

Looking at the timeline a little more closely … these reports say that detectives only spoke to DJK for the first time about a week before he was arrested ... and only days before he contacted them and evidently put himself squarely on their radar! He was arrested 8th October. Maybe speaking with local businesses about DJK made them think he wasn’t that much of a suspect initially? He was quiet, he was working that night, that was the way he walked home.

“Detectives first spoke with Kelsall about a week before he was arrested and charged with murder ….
However, while detectives were continuing with their murder investigation, and before they were in a position to speak with Kelsall a second time, it will be alleged he contacted them with other details of what took place that night.”

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/ac...ad-his-last-beer/story-fnii5s3y-1226739920271

"The Daily Telegraph can reveal that Kelsall had already been interviewed by police, days before he contacted them to say he had engaged in sexual activity with Huxley the night of the fatal stabbing."

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/ne...ad-his-last-beer/story-fni0cx12-1226739920271

So that is probably why they didn't have his DNA before ... they hadn't spoken to him yet. And even when they did speak with him, they didn't regard him seriously enough to ask for DNA? Or he refused?
RSBM

But this doesn't add up. Shoddy journalism again, or police forgetting what they've previously disclosed to the media?

Homicide detectives interviewed Mr Kelsall at North Sydney police station about two weeks after Mr Huxley's death, later seizing his satchel and glasses for forensic testing.
Mr Deverall said that Mr Kelsall had to wear prescription sunglasses inside for the next two weeks because his glasses had been seized.

Which was it?? C'mon media, give us some concrete facts!! DJK was arrested on the 2 month anniversary of Morgan's death, meaning that he was either interviewed around 6 weeks before his arrest, or a week before his arrest.

ETA if he was wearing the prescription sunnies for 2 weeks at work, they couldn't have interviewed him for the first time a week before his arrest, then 'later' seized his glasses for forensic testing. The media timeline just doesn't add up.

Err, Fruity - you're a month younger than you thought you were.

Morgan was murdered on 8th September, and DJK was arrested on 8th October. Not TWO months - only ONE month after the murder.

Unless I'm mistooken....
