Please note this is not a complaint and is just relaying factual information.

Hello,
To those who have asked about how my verification process is coming along: I have been in correspondence with WS admin and have provided my ID and other requested information and am awaiting further responses. Unfortunately, I did not provide the thread (Lesley Trotter) and this has delayed the process as WS Admin are volunteers. I appreciate that as I am also a volunteer here and I know how time consuming this is.

Here are some photos from my walk this morning. *edited to add - you can see while some 'missing' flyers have been taken down, there are still some around the neighbourhood.

Thanks N4462,

Much appreciated as per Hinterland’s post…

I noticed the number on the top of the bin… do you know if the bins were numbered like that before LT went missing??

TIA

You're welcome :)

Yes, those numbers were like that before. From memory, I think one or two numbers are missing because they are so old; you can see the remains of dried glue. The police didn't take these bins away. But bins from Maryvale St were replaced.

Just know the police are still investigating and re-interviewing all the people who have already given statements. There are many detectives on this case. Any points of note are being focused upon and police are getting further information from those points. If it helps, the way the police have released information is strategic. Both myself and a neighbour in my complex have been re-interviewed.

I believe a reporter followed me home from the station. After I arrived home, a reporter (microphone and cameraman in tow) hung around our main entrance from after lunch until dark, but I managed to avoid them by going another route. So glad a neighbour in the next complex gave me the heads up. 'Not happy, Jan.' Believe me, you don't want a murder happen next door. Apart from the worry (about the victime) and horror/fear, it is inconvenient.

So pleased to hear that Police are still so active in the area …. And following up details!! Hopefully this will result in quick justice for Lesley!

I also believe the release of info, via Media and the Police is very strategic, in this case …

I do wonder about certain information that has been released ….. were Police putting pressure on someone by releasing the information about finding the mail from Lesley’s neighbourhood ??? Could the mail be important??? Could there have been threats delivered in the mail???

Also,
The last video updates of the search at the dump, on the news last Thursday, were all supplied by Police … you could see the Police Logo in the top right hand corner… so not independent news footage …. Which is interesting …. IMO

I don't think there's any hidden message in the mail, I've heard that kind of report from other dump searches in the past. It's just a way they can determine if they're in roughly the correct area, if they're finding envelopes or packaging with addresses from the same geographic area as the missing person. No conspiracy or codes involved.

MOO

I don't think the mail is important except for ascertaining correct location of police search.

Police new footage of the dump - could also be hygiene reasons? But, it is evidence so I doubt police would want news crews stamping all over possible evidence.

The topic of the enormity of a tip search came up in "Searching for Sarah MacDiarmid" podcast.

Vikki Petraitis explained the investigators reasoning at the time, considered it a better use of police and SES resources to extensively search of the local area and follow other leads in the absence of any direct evidence pointing to the tip.

The excavation option would have otherwise have been to excavate a tip area the size of the MCG, several meters deep with an excavator. This volume of rubbish to scour was only 48hrs worth of accumulation after Sarah's disappearance.

The magnitude of landfill searches is overwhelming. This was in 1990 well before cameras in trucks and the like.

Hope they locate Lesley (and Sarah) soon.

You know, I was reading page 17. I must have missed this page because that is the first time seeing it. Very interesting. That place where Massingham is standing outside is two doors up from LT's. Why the heck is that bin upside down? Does it look new to anyone or is it my imagination?

Side note: People seem very obsessed with their bins around here. My complex neighbour (is a very complex and weird person too lol) has a padlock on his wheelie bin and sent multiple notices about this issue *roll eyes*. I think the lady upstairs puts her rubbish in his bin because her bin is always empty and she is mostly at home with her indoor cat. I guess she puts the cat waste in someone else's bin now.

I wish police would update...I wish there is some news... Is there a person of interest?

The bin that is upside down has a yellow lid - recycling bin - I thought the bin LT was linked to was the general waste bin which has a green lid matching the base.

So not sure why that bin in the photo would be upside down or new??

Upside down if they recently washed it and wanted the water to drain out maybe?? MOO

So not a Lesley update. But I saw this on the new tonight. I'm not sure if waste is compacted the same in Victoria as it is in Queensland. But with Kelly they were able to tell what happened prior

"She was subjected to what the evidence showed is a sustained, deliberate sharp force assault including at least one stab to the area of the heart," prosecutor Jeremy McWilliam said.

Murdered in Feb 2021 and found in June 2021. That is a good chunk of time. So it is very encouraging that they might be able to determine what happened to Lesley also.

I am starting to lose hope that they are going to find anything or Lesley :(

I like to think that just because LE haven't given any more updates doesn't mean they aren't getting anywhere

Don't give up hope. We know she's there and they will find her!
