A man excavating at his home in Geelong has found what appear to be human remains in an abandoned swag.

The resident made the grisly discovery on Tuesday on Sparks Road in Norlane, a suburb in the north of Geelong.

The resident said he saw what he believed to be a femur, hip bone, and skull covered in long hair, collecting one or two bones before taking them to the police station.

It is believed the man saw a femur, hip bone and a skull covered in long, red shoulder-length hair.

The Geelong Advertiser understands the property on Munroe Ct - where the body was found on the fence line - had been vacant for several months.

Neighbours told the Addy the tenants - a man and a woman - delivered catalogues for a living, but “vanished” from the property around six months ago.

Wow! My family live not far from there. Norlane has a water slide centre I used to frequent as a kid. A bit too close to home!

More human remains have been found at a Norlane property

More human remains linked to a man’s death more than a year ago have been found at a property in Geelong’s suburbs.

The remains were found near Sparks Road at Norlane on Saturday and are believed related to a death in 2019, Victoria Police confirmed.

The remains found in 2019 were identified as a 26-year-old Norlane man, police said at the time.

It is not clear how the latest remains were uncovered or what was found but they were taken to the coroner’s officer to be examined.

The human remains were first found in September 2019 when a nearby resident was digging up his property at Marnoo Court.

It’s understood bones were uncovered and were hidden in camping gear.

The investigation remains ongoing.
