A Supreme Court judge has revealed hundreds of schoolchildren taught by murdered Melbourne Grammar teacher and librarian Cheryl Adamson continue to be traumatised by her death.

Justice Betty King said on Monday she had been approached on three separate occasions by people who wanted to discuss how schoolchildren who had known Mrs Adamson were finding it difficult to come to terms with her loss.

Mrs Adamson was murdered with her husband in a "double thrill kill" last year.

Justice King said she was told those mourning Mrs Adamson were glad the killer, Thomas Hemming, had been jailed in October because it gave them some closure and a chance to move on with their lives.

The judge on Monday heard an application by Channel Seven and Channel Nine for the release of the videotaped police interview with Hemming. She said the impact on schoolchildren of any television report about thekiller would be animportant consideration in deciding if she released the footage.

Channel Nine wanted to use the footage for a story on A Current Affair about the murders, while Channel Seven hopes to use it on either their Sunday Night program or news bulletin.
